    I used to run T5Vs with the Adam T10S sub. Then I upgraded to AX5s but kept the sub. Here is what Adam had to say (so nice):
    I reached out to our National Sales Manager for some help and these are the instructions he provided:
    "I’ll start by saying that the T10S will be slightly underpowered for this setup as you have more powerful amps and a higher output with A5X’s. In any case though, I think you should begin by making sure that the crossover switch is set to 80Hz. From that point, turn the volume of the sub down while playing the A5X’s at your standard listening volume. Pick a song that you know well and slowly increase the volume of the subwoofer until you hear the lower freq’s fill in. From there you should be at a good starting point to begin mixing. You may have to adjust here and there over your first couple mixes but as with most audio gear, you will have to dial it in."
    Let us know if that helps!

    What do you think of using a much higher sub/monitor crossover frequency? With smaller monitors I find that this works really well because high-passing the monitors allows more headroom. I can drive the speakers much louder without distorting because everything below 150Hz is being handled by the sub. I prefer this because the mid range is more critical than the lows

    Thanks Adam Audio for the informative video! I'm in the market for new monitors to purchase very soon, coming from KRK Rokit 5 G2 (one speaker has died after years of use). This video cleared up most of my concerns with the pairings of the T series, especially the new T8v + T10s combo I've been heavily considering. All the other videos have been very informative and I'm glad those resources are available.

    I bought a pair of Adam A7x, but I sadly found that its speakers are not 7 ". They are only 13 cm. They have little depth. If I want more depth but no worse quality, what do you suggest? Change it to A8x? They say that that there is a hole in the middle.The T8v doesn't sound that clear.Maybe the A77x? or sub10 is the solution?

      Hi Antonio! This really depends on your room size and setup. The T5Vs are great for studios with limited space. You should check them out at your local dealership, to compare the sizes. Have a great day!

    I have a pair of Adam A77X monitors.
    I am a composer/engineer/producer of fairly traditional rock, pop, jazz, world music (I do not do dance or hip hop).
    They are a dream to record and mix through. I cannot praise them enough.
    But I do have one question for Adam Audio: How do you recommend that the monitors be configured (A on the left and B on the right, or vice versa)?
    I find that having monitor B on my left and A to my right seems to provide a slightly wider image. The manual does not stipulate if there are phase issues with putting the lower bass woofers in the middle, as I have done. Many thanks.

    I have two T8Vs and a 10S subwoofer. When music is playing quietly, the subwoofer turns off after a few minutes. Is this fixable?

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  2 года назад

      Hi Ricky! If the subwoofer unintentionally switches off during operation, we recommend increasing the input level (=volume of your interface) and adjusting the volume of the subwoofer and satellites accordingly. For the best signal-to-noise ratio, we generally recommend that you adjust the input volume you use to drive the Sub as loud as possible (without clipping the input of the T10S) and then turn the volume down accordingly. It's been proven to be effective to increase or adjust the level as described. It is technically possible that the subwoofer switches to standby even if a signal is present. This happens when the threshold of the sub is not reached for a longer period. Please bear in mind that this threshold was chosen with care, as the sub should not switch on accidentally or unintentionally in case of slight background noise or voltage peaks.

    I am ready for new monitors and am enamored with your new T8V's. I love the idea of a full frequency monitor without need of a subwoofer. My studio size is 12 foot 8 inches width by 17 feet length. The room is moderately dampened. What would you suggest I purchase between the T8V's and the T7V's? I'm not concerned about neighbors. I have a little question. I've had my pair of A7Xs for a little over five years, love them to bits, goes without saying. Over time I've noticed little dust particles, tiny hairs etc., that have built up over the tweeters (fairly small amount, no audible effects). I have left them as is, no blowing/air, no touching at all, watched your maintenance video, but I'm still curious whether this is something I should keep an eye on or do anything about.

    Hi Adam, I too am trying to pick between a t7/5v t10s bundle or the t8v, I just wanted to ask what size you would consider a small/large room to be, also what situation the 5/7 bundle would be compared to eachother, thank you very much, love the content, super helpful.

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  3 года назад

      Hi Cameron! Thank you for this question. What size of room are you working with? Choosing between all these options is really not easy. For some the T5V + T10S bundle is the perfect choice because they don't have much space on their desks. Some want to keep it minimalistic and go for the T8Vs because a lot of space allows for it. If monitoring really deep frequencies is important for your work, we'd suggest going for T10S bundles. A 2.1 system in this price range will usually perform better than two nearfield monitors alone. The T8Vs are able to go as low as 32 Hz whereas the T10S is able to go as low as 28 Hz. Hope that helps! :)

      @@ADAMAudioBerlin Thanks for the reply, yes my room is 5x3 metres so a decent size room, but unfortunately it is a dual purpose room so I cant do much in the way of acoustic treatment especially for sub frequencies. Space for the t8vs isn't an issue as I do have room for stands. I am also on a bit of a budget which is which is why I was more thinking along the lines of the t8v but if the difference in performance is worth it with a 2.1 system, considering my room would only be lightly treated, I would spend the extra money. Also I produce house music, so very bass heavy. Hope that helps to give an idea of my situation. Thank you so much for the advice.

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  3 года назад

    I wish Adam made a micro monitor series like the Iloud Micro. I feel that to spend $800 on a pair of monitors and a sub is good, if you live with your parents and have your own room in a house, or you have a steady job and you can have a permanent studio, but most likely, you're going to be hitching rides from friends or family, or living with other people who probably wont want a full studio next to them. But people who are broke, dealing with very tight spaces and thin walls, I wish they made something you can put in a back pack, and can take with you to hotels, a friends house, etc. I also wish Adam had the ability to screw on mic stands, like Genelec and Eve audio. I hate the idea of speakers being knocked off by accident, especially high end monitors. If there were small monitors like this, hopefully they pack a huge punch. Enough for producers who make drum and bass, dubstep, or other bass heavy genres to at least have a strong enough reference to make tracks on the go. It would be a hell of a challenge. Just a suggestion.

    Would love to see some recommended "patch cord" configurations and electric power cord requirements for one or more typical set-ups (A5X - Sub8) including interfacing with an internet-connected desk-top computer system with a good Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC) as a primary source - plus interfacing with other traditional pre-amplifier sources (FM Tuner, TurnTables, Aux Inputs, plus a possible BlueTooth connection with one or more iPhones - for iPhone "Parties" with Multiple Participating Program Selectors - ie - fellow party animals). Thank you for this detailed take on some of the most popular questions on the web. I am a fairly new owner of T7Vs. I have a question about rear ported speakers and their distance from the front wall. You have mentioned that a minimum of 1 foot would be okay. I have also heard that you are familiar with gearslutz, so you probably know that many well-versed members of the site attest to the fact that more you move rear ported speakers against the wall, the more you push the SBIR frequencies up in the spectrum towards the mid section, which are reportedly much easier to treat than sub frequencies. So the idea here is that, given the sub frequencies are omni-directional, you need to push them against the wall as much as possible, leaving maybe 10-15 cm from the rear panel.
    I was curious about what your thoughts on this. Does the 1 foot mark include the depth of the speaker by any chance? Given that T7Vs have a depth of 29 cm, plus a 10 cm distance from the wall to the back panel, will amount up to nearly 40 cm (1.3 feet). Are your measurements from the woofer to the front wall? I wanted to make sure of this dilemma as there are conflicting comments all around the web as every room is different. Many thanks!

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  4 года назад +2

      Hi this is a great question... ultimately we think the best acoustic outcome is to not be close to any of your walls, and rather, the listening position be a third of the room away from your front wall... so if your room was 12ft long, your listening position would be 4ft away from the front wall, which then would determine for the most part where your monitors would sit. We understand that isn't always possible, for some people, and though many people fear rear-ported monitors up against a wall, we have not seen drastic differences from rear-ported to front ported monitors. The low-end is omni-directional coming out of the port, so it doesn't make a huge difference in distance as you will already be a few inches away due to cabling coming out of the back of the speaker. It's more important to perfect the distance between yourself & your monitors with the equilateral triangle to make sure your bass isn't too boomy (if they're too close) or if there is a washy stereo image (too far apart).

    Adam, why do you waste electricity by leaving your monitors on all the times? It might not hurt the monitors themselves but it certainly isn't very environmentally friendly. Wasting electricity where there is no need for it whatsoever is such a waste, increases the carbon footprint and contributes to a more serious global warming. You, as a company should be environmentally responsible. It actually concerns me hearing that you allow such a waste of a resource, whether that's electricity or water to be wasted.
