    I use the Adam A5x's paird with the Adam sub 7, in a fairly small work space. Which is why I use Sonorworks 4 monitor correction software and I love my setup. Don't think I could do without my sub!

      A sub7 won't provide full range sound. You're missing most of the content below 30Hz, even with room gain.

    • @dot.initial
      @dot.initial 4 года назад +2

      mohamedahmed1023 read carefully again „fairly small room“ - if you put in more than this like 18Hz or whatever it will destroy the rest of the frequencies ..

    • @mohamedahmed1023
      @mohamedahmed1023 4 года назад

      @@dot.initial depends on what you call a small room. It won't destroy the other frequencies- you're referring to excessive room gain and room boominess caused by resonances/ slow decay times. I have two 12" subs in a 15' x 12" bedroom. They were easy to integrate with some good placement and digital room correction.
      Unless the room is the size of a small guest room, you can fit a full range sub.

      @@ADAMAudioBerlin Hi. I have a Kawai NV10S hybrid grand piano. Kawai claim that the speakers inside are top notch. However, through the headphones (DT 990 Pro) frankly I forget that I'm wearing them, the instrument sounds and behaves exactly like the real thing. Through the speakers it's a much less pleasant experience and the piano often sounds not very realistic/convincing.
      I'm working on some potential solutions and one of them would involve getting your T5V + T10S bundle.
      I have ZERO experience with any of this stuff, I simply want my piano to sound much better, so I need your advice.
      My question is:
      1) in your experience of top end digital piano speakers/speaker systems, would getting the mentioned ADAM bundle improve my situation? Or would I have to go for some of your far more expensive products to notice any difference?
      2) Using external monitor speakers is it even possible to create/maintain the illusion that the sound is coming from the instrument as if it's an acoustic piano, just as I get now from speakers that are built into the instrument (yes, the quality of the sound might be poor, but it does basically sound like it's coming from the piano in the usual way sound comes out of an acoustic piano)?
      3) does the mentioned speaker bundle cover the full frequency range of a concert grand piano, even in the base (which is where I find my piano speakers lacking the most, even though specs say that it has an 8 inch woofer)?
      4) the back of my piano is about 60-70 cms away from the wall. Is that enough space to put these 3 speakers into behind the piano, or would this be a problem/seriously degrade the sound?
      5) if I buy this bundle, do you have tutorials, or perhaps you could suggest the correct way to set the speakers up behind my piano (physical positioning etc.)?
      6) related to 5, would I need to buy stands for the T5Vs?
      Thank you!

    I'm moving with my A3Xs to a bigger room and really think a sub would improve things a lot (the A3Xs only go down to 50Hz after all). Any thoughts about which sub would be best for me? The Sub7 is said to be ideal for small speakers and the AX series and the Sub8 is said to be the perfect match for the AX series, too. So the difference basically is 28Hz vs 32Hz coverage? Will they both work well with my A3Xs? Which would be the most ideal combination?

    Hey guys! Thanks for this video, I've been pondering getting a sub for me A7X's for a while to get a proper low end representation for electronic bass-focused music (DnB etc). Your recent home studio acoustic treatment was handy for some tips too! Just wondering whether the T10s would pair with A7X's or should I really save up for a Sub8? I think Sub10 would be overkill (both in price and size), as it seems both the T10s and Sub8 go down to 28hz. I really like the idea of front-firing over downward firing though, and the control knobs being on the front of the sub8...

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  4 года назад +3

      Hi this is a great question! The T10s on its own would be very underpowered with the A7Xs, so in that scenario, we typically suggest getting dual T10s subwoofers to match, but it can be quite un-ergonomic in many smaller spaces, so for this scenario (and the very valid reasons you mentioned above) we would suggest the Sub8 as it can be a great match with the A7Xs even if it's not 'perfectly' matched with the SPL. Thanks for watching!

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  Год назад

      Hi there, The Sub8 is designed for smaller rooms up to 20 square meters. It is an ideal match for the ADAM Audio A Series like the A77H and goes down to 28 Hz. Also, the Sub7 has been designed to complement smaller monitors such as the AX Series or A Series down to 32 Hz.

    Hi Adam Audio, thanks for the great video. I’m looking for a sub to pair with my A7X’s. Quick question: to quote Stephan Mauer from the video: "The option to use a foot switch to bypass the subwoofer and crossover, and listen to the monitors exclusively, is a very useful feature too -- especially if you work on material that does not always require the low end extension, or if you would like to give your neighbors downstairs a little break" (6:20). Very well said. I agree completely. But then why, oh why, oh why, (oh why) do you *not* offer a foot switch on your Sub8 or Sub10?? While there are work-arounds, like putting the sub on a different pair of outputs of the audio interface and selectively muting that to bypass the sub, my audio interface only has a single pair of outputs, nor do I have additional hardware controllers. But even then, that would make it impossible to use the crossover feature when the sub is active. Why don’t you stand behind Stephan’s statement above and offer a bypass foot switch in your higher-end subs, especially given what’s probably a negligible additional cost to do so? You’ve basically pushed me to a Focal Sub6 to pair with my Adam A7X’s, just so I can have a bypass foot switch! smh...

      @@ADAMAudioBerlin Thank you ADAM Audio for your reply. So what would you (or anyone with experience with this) recommend, for those of us wanting bypass functionality on a Sub10, for the reasons that Stephan concisely presents in the video. Of course upgrading to an audio interface with multiple outputs is one avenue, but again, that doesn’t allow for crossover functionality. Is there a recommended external hardware switching device that can essentially perform the function of a bypass footswitch? i.e. switch between only satellite monitors operating at full frequency response, to monitors + sub arrangement in which frequency is divided between sub and monitors at the chosen crossover frequency? Or, are people using Sub10 with A7X on different output channels, no crossover, and happy with the results? Thanks.

    I have focal CMS 65 (6.5 inch 108db SPL) - Would the Sub 7 be a great match for these or would the Sub 8 be much better (or T10S)? Does it matter if you mix brands? It's good you mentioned about the SPL - I always wondered if it was important to have a certain ratio / similarity or difference between the woofers in your speakers and the one in your sub. Like perhaps if you have a 6 inch monitor you want an 8 inch sub or if you have a 4 inch monitor you want a 6 inch sub etc. Which is likely to give a better upgrade in sound - an upgrade in studio monitor (and therefore a lower extension) or adding a sub?

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  4 года назад +1

      Hi! Great question... The Sub8 would be a great option there as it would significantly extend the low-end along with being very close in terms of SPL. Mixing brands does not matter and it would add quite a bit of depth to your monitoring. Hope that helps!

    Hi - I have a pair of Focal Alpha 50 in a small studio (office) which I use occasionally to do final checks on my mixes as I primarily use headphones. I cannot afford to completely replace my speakers for a new 2+1 system so I’m looking for a suitable sub-woofer and I’m hoping that the Adam Sub 7 might be suitable - can you confirm this? The SPL’s seem quite similar.
    I’m anticipating moving up to a larger studio space (repurposing the dining room - shh, don’t let the wife know just yet!) about 13 sq.mts. I have room treatment and Sonarworks - do you think the above combination (alphas and the sub 7) be adequate at moderate volume for the bigger room?

Especially whilst our rooms are getting smaller day by day which leads to a series of ugly modal room resonances and plus the low-end is not going to decay naturally... Video idea: where to place your sub, should it be on carpet, or on floor?

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  4 года назад +8

      This is a good idea, but to give you an answer now, it doesn't matter much... as carpet can't help absorb that low of frequencies, nor can the hardwood 'diffuse' it as those frequencies are so omnidirectional and pass through both surfaces.

    • @DeadWhiteButterflies
      @DeadWhiteButterflies 4 года назад +2

      I was wondering a similar thing actually. I'm not entirely sure if should have the sub under my desk or above it in the centre [of my desk] on a short stand. I've seen some set ups with sub free standing on a set of wheels off to one side. I'm just not sure what's best and can't decide.

    • @GuitarAlex
      @GuitarAlex 3 года назад

      From what I've read (from people who at least seem to know a lot more than me😅), in a music studio, it is better to have hard wood floor instead of carpet because carpet absorbs high frequencies, but doesn't really help with low ones. The problem is that as you treat for the low frequencies, the high ones start to be over-treated making the room sound dead.

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  2 года назад

      Hi John! It definitely would. On the one hand, you would hear deeper bass, but also because the woofers of the T7V can take care of the mid frequencies and leave the bass to the T10S. The T10S is designed to work perfectly with the monitors of the T-Series. Keep in mind, that some acoustic treatment would also benefit your room acoustic. Especially the low end is difficult to handle. We would recommend bass traps in the corners if possible in your setup. Let us know if you have any further questions. All the best, Daniel.

If you're budget is 4k and with your room size you can definitely look into the Sub10 or Sub12 in combination with the new A7V or the S2V. The T10S also has less amp power, but plays just as loud (104 dB SPL). Besides that, the T10S is made for critical listening in a home studio environment, whereas the Kube is a Hifi product, so it really depends on your use case. We hope that helps!

      Hi joelnaattori! You could use any interface with at least 2 outputs (balanced or unbalanced). We could recommend brands such as Focusrite, for example.

    @ADAMAudioBerlin I will get to pair of A5X in the next few days and I am thinking about a sub too. I know that the best choice for A5X would be the Sub8 but I will not have the budget for that right now. I would like to ask you if a Sub7 or T10S could be a good match for A5X? My room is about 5 x 4 and 3m tall. So the most important question is: Can I calibrate the Sub7 and the T10S with the pair of A5X on a way to get a correct audio image and if the answer is yes, which one would you recommend more for A5X, the Sub7 or T10S. Thanks in advance.

      @ADAMAudioBerlin  Год назад

      Hi Gregor! You could pair them with both subwoofers, but the T10S is intended to match ideally with the T Series. When you want to match a Sub with an AX Series (A5X) monitor we would recommend the Sub7 or Sub8. Even with the T10S going down to 28Hz and the Sub7 to 32Hz, we would think the Sub7 will be a better match.

    Hi Stephan! Great video. As you know, I’m a proud owner of a pair ADAM T7V. I have a quite large studio. About 8 meters long, 4.5 meters wide and approximately 2.6 meters high. I’m looking into some extra low frequency extension for my T7V. Will the ADAM T10S a good choice? Or am I better off buying a pair of the new ADAM A series studio speakers? I hope you can give me some advice, Stephan. I would really appreciate it! Thanks 🙏 in advance.

      Hi Emiel333! If you are happy and don't want to change your T7Vs, the T10S would be the perfect match for it. But if you are looking for an upgrade, the new A Series would be a great choice! All the best!

      @@ADAMAudioBerlin Hi Stephan! Thanks for the fast reply. An sich I’m happy with my T7Vs. I want to be able to judge the frequencies between 30 Hz And 80 Hz better when I’m working with music. I think the T10S is a great addition to my T7Vs. Also, like you mentioned in this video, I will have more headroom with the midrange frequencies and that’s very cool. So I can work all the way down to 28 Hz and up to 25 kHz if I buy an ADAM T10S. I’ve looked online and saw the T10S for a reasonable price tag! I will dive a bit deeper into this subject so I can make a decision soon. Thanks 🙏

    If I Use A Sub With My Setup, And Then Mix And Master It And What Not, When I Then Play It Through A Different System, Such As A Car, Is It Realistic To Make Say EQ Decisions With The Subwoofer And Then Listen Through A Different System Than Without A Subwoofer?

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  4 года назад

      Yes it should be very accurate as long as your subwoofer is not hyping up the low-end in your studio. While subwoofers can add 'fun' bass, they are a tool that needs to be accurate for proper mixing decisions just like your monitors.

    I bought the T5Vs bundle with a focusrite audio card at Musicianfriends last month and they are still in back order, and that's why I couldn't buy the subwoofer. I may cancel the entire order. All reviews point that the T5v are better speakers than the regular competition. KRk, Kali, Yamaha, pre sonus, JBL , Tanoy and others. But man, that backorder is killing me.

      Hi Tinus! Since you have the possibility to choose a crossover frequency the T8Vs can work very well with the T10S. If you work with bass-heavy music this might be the way to go for you.
