Thanks for the tip on removing the shafts. I must have watched 20 videos doing another way. My shaft was stuck and your way worked the best. Thanks for the video!!
thank you very much for the video. just changed driver side axel it was leaking from the differential. Had a few issues getting the axel out but got it in the end. thank you again
Great video! My new shaft had an O ring as well. I did not use it due to the factory shaft not having one. Hope I was right… my shaft would not come out with the punch. I also couldn’t remove the roll pin that holds the pinion shaft. I made a slide hammer out of 12” visegrps 30” of all thread, some black pipe, a couple nuts and washers. 3 wacks and it was out! Thanks again for the great video!
Yeah I have the exact same truck and my front passenger side seal started leaking. I was thinking I would have to tear all the way into it taking the hub and half shaft and both ball joints apart. Thanks for the info. Good video!
Im working in 2004 hemi. Right side (passenger) axle stub shaft is stuck to the intermediate and both are pulling together- cant remove even tapping with hammer
I was in 4 wheel drive last night and when i turned right it was real tight then a loud, PING!!! All of the sudden my 4 wheel drive was gone and theres a bad clicking sound. It was on passenger side. Do u think it was axle? I looked underneath and seen my stabilizer link was broken and looks like fresh grease/ fluid coming from axle
My CV axle is stuck to the intermediate shaft and the intermediate shaft is stuck in the diff. I've been beating on it but nothing. Both are stuck. Any tips?
Open the diff cover and remove the spider gear pinion shaft in the center out, make more room to pry or beat the intermediate shaft and cv axle out together. But have to remove the cv shaft out from the knuckle first. Good luck
@@silverstonespov5291 that snap ring? Just remove and it comes out? I didn’t know. When I rebuilt my 2003 ram hemi, i spun the gear and removed the large pin in the middle and the snap ring on the axle then I tapped it out. I don’t have to remove that big pin? Just the snap ring and it comes out? Much easier that way.
@@JacksonGuitarsPlayer03 Yes, just like the CV axle shafts, push it in and tap it out. Not like the solid axle or semi floating axle. When the diff cover remove you can see if it had C-clip or snap ring. Good luck !
@@silverstonespov5291 it has snap ring. Ok then I removed the big pin because I was told that how it comes out. But you saying you can just tap it out from inside the diff and not have to remove that large center pin. Trucks already all set but I just wanted to ask. Thanks for replying sir!
@@JacksonGuitarsPlayer03 You were probably better off doing it that way. On our '03 we fought it for ages trying to just tap it out. Ended up pulling the cross pin like you.

A very well-made and well-explained video. Thank you!
Great video. In the future, list the part numbers for the seals.
About home many hours does it take to do this exact job to remove cv shafts and half shafts
Great video
I'm wondering,
Can you remove diff cover without removing steering rack
Yes, It’s shouldn’t have to remove the steering rack
@@silverstonespov5291 thx 🙏
What is the bearing behind the seal where the intermediate shaft goes I think that’s what’s wrong with my truck
Intermediate shaft support bearing

Right side (passenger) axle stub shaft is stuck to the intermediate and both are pulling together- cant remove even tapping with hammer
In that case you might have to remove the intermediate shaft too, see if easier when both are outside the vehicle

Yes, sound like your axle, they are very commons

What is the seal part number from napa for the passenger side??
Sorry, I don't remember the part number
you have to push out a pin in the differential to remove that longer axle shaft
No, because the shafts is held the diff by the clip that came with the shaft not by the C-clip

Very good
Where does the o ring go on the passenger side?
on the shaft on the outside of the seal between the seal and the c-clip where the cv axel slides up.
