- The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is an excellent car on paper. Great price, excellent tech, and the exterior looks stunning.
Does the interior match how it looks on the outside. While the price is great, are you compromising on a few important aspects?
In this review I take you through many things about this Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max including 3 very important aspects that are compromised in this range topping Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max 7 seater.

i did the test drive, when you set the car to comfort mode, the car suspension becomes softer and the steering is ultra light, it suits a guy like me. literally when you change the mode to normal the suspension feels a bit stiffer and the steering feels heavier a bit. But when you set to the sports mode, automatically it changes into beast, i would say a firm ride, meatier steering feel and the transmission ratio goes higher revving attitude. The fuel consumption is worse but thats what you expected from a 2.0 turbo with 256hp on 1.5 tonnes SUV. on long journey, especially on free ways or highways, I don’t see any issues on safety.
That is amazing. Thanks for the insight. True, it's a beast and drives really fast even on ECO mode. With time, you will get use to the feel of the steering and all other functionalities. The AI function is really handy and useful. A brilliant touch by Chery. Have you test driven the Omoda C5?
Wait how do you change suspension settings?
@@ushirshah its electronically control. the mode comfort, normal and sport
@@MotoringAndTechWorld i did not yet. Maybe will check on the Tiggo T7 Pro first.
@@mohdalimohdzain4241 you mean eco normal and sport?
I am now confused with all those Chinese cars at first I thought of Haval h6 GT and Jaecoo J7, I did not look at Chery before. But Jaecoo J7 made me to look at Cherry Tiggo 7 and 8 promax and I think l love them as well. I am so confused right now which one should I go for?
Yes there are lots to choose from. What about a hybrid? Have you looked at the Haval H6 Hybrid? Its really nice as well. I do have a review on it on my channel if you would like to see what its all about. If you havent already, please subscribe to the channel. I will really appreciate it. Thanks Sandile.
@@MotoringAndTechWorld Yes I have watched the Haval h6 hybrid over an over, I love it's front grill a lot. What I don't love about Hybrid and Hev vehicles is that it does not have spare tyre's.
@@sandilemajiya7831 that front grill is amazing. When I think of the H6 hybrid the first image that comes to my head is that stunning front grill. You are right. It's a pity about the spare tyre. What are your thoughts on the Omoda C5?
@@MotoringAndTechWorld Yes Amoda is a very luxurious SUV with great features and beautiful interior but the exterior is not that attractive to me that is why I don't like it.
Considering the T8. I have the T4 for about a year and a half. No mechanical issues and no electronic gremlins. Fuel consumption is an issue. Even the T4 is pretty quick. Would like to feel the power of this model. Handling isn't a strong point but I drive mine hard in sports mode through corners and bends. It grips but there is body roll. Absolute dream on the 'long road'. Reels in the horizon. Thanks for the good review. Will test drive it.
Hi Brian. Thank you for your great insight as always. Have you test driven the Tiggo 8 Pro Max as yet? Would love to hear your thoughts after test driving it.
I’m keen to see a review of the AWD T8 pro max.
Will do my best. Which other cars would you like to see?
@@MotoringAndTechWorld hi there, the J7 Jaecoo and I see J8 is coming as well.
2013 Touareg. Childlock - I can still control the windows from the front. Also the childlock button also locks the door so you don't have to manually set it on the rear door.
That’s amazing Issy. It’s a really handy feature to have. Thanks for watching the video. What are your thoughts on the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max? Please subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. I’ll really appreciate it.
Found this video on my FYP. Needed
Thanks for watching. What about this video did you find valuable?
@@MotoringAndTechWorld most of the other videos were mainly positive. You provided potential negatives for me to think about
@@uwaisasmal that is true. Have a look at my Tiggo 7 Pro video. Some of these negatives were corrected by Chery which was great to see. Main one now is the fuel efficiency.
I love this car. It has just been launched in Dubai. Unfortunately the brown interior was a deal breaker for me, otherwise I'd have bought it.
Thanks for your comment Olga. Such a pity, does it not come in any other colour interiors? What do you specifically like about this Chery? Since you will not take this one which other cars are you looking at? Thanks for watching Olga. If you are not subscribed already, please subscribe to the channel. I will really appreciate it.
I just bought it in Dubai (oct 2024) with the grey/white interior. Stunning!
@@Dutchbird757how's your experience so far? I am also planning to buy this but not sure about after sale services.
It is an absolutely amazing car, beats all the chinese cars in UAE , with its price , by far the best car !
It is definitely great value for money!
Your the first reviewer who has more than 1 or 2 negatives Apart from Suspension and Fuel Consumption the other reviewers give the 8 excellent reviews
That was what i felt in the car. I might have been a bit critical but it’s important people know about some of the negatives as well. Subsequent to this review I have reviewed the updated Tiggo 7 Pro Max and it was absolutely amazing. The negatives I mentioned in this video apart from suspension and fuel were all rectified. I was really impressed. Have you seen my review on the Tiggo 7 Pro Max?
Thanks for the comment Johnny and for being part of the conversation and the channel.
All other SUV manufacturers put huge enine (more than 2l) which breaks luxury regulations limits and annual registration cost 5-10x more than cars with engine up to 2l.
I had test drive T8Pro, 1.6l and it's really good.
Thanks for the insight. Are you inclined to buy the T8 Pro?
@@MotoringAndTechWorld bough it yesterday. It's really good.
It's a nice car I'm in love with this Cherry
It sure is a great value for money proposition.
Have you reviewed any Exeed cars? Any experience with those?
Especially with the 7 seater VX model
No I have not reviewed any Exeed cars. Thanks for watching and commenting. Which country are you in?

@@UmairAhmed-jj1gt welcome to the channel. Is this the first video you have watched? There’s over 200 videos on the channel. Have a look at some of the others. Maybe you could find some value in other videos as well. Welcome Umair. It’s great to have you here.
I suppose some of the stuff you mentioned as negatives are driver dependant becausenIntest drove 2 versions of the Tiggo 8 Pro and to me I felt its quite comfortable and the seats felt great. Most motor journalists agree. Great video btw. 👍👍
Thanks Thabo. Yes it is driver dependent. And I just compared it to other cars I have driven. If you watch my Tiggo 7 pro max you will see that I mention that there are already improvements made. Which do you prefer between the Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 7? Thabo, thank you for the feedback and for watching.
@@MotoringAndTechWorld The Tiggo 8 for sure.😁😁 The 7 seater configuration will be great for my fam. I also love the looks of it. 👍👍
do you work for Kia, having had a 1.6 sportage and the problems. never again
Hi Tony. No I do not work for Kia. Sorry to hear that. What problems did you have with your Sportage?
gearbox and elec
@@tonykronk how did you find the service of Kia when you approached them to fix the issues?
The tech is not really difficult to implement, but the engine refinement, handling, suspension tuning etc…now that takes years to masters, this is why European cars cost a lot
It makes sense what you are saying. Chery is doing a good job but they still have catching up to do in many aspects. What are your top 3 favourite cars from 2023?
@@MotoringAndTechWorld 1. Ford Ranger Raptor; 2. Lexus RX and 3. GWM Ora Cat. The Ora car makes the list only because of the price, our EV market is still insane when it comes to pricing
What about the fuel consumption....???!!! Why doesn't anyone mention about it ?
Chery has not yet perfected the fuel consumption as yet. And a car of this size with AWD and a powerful engine is going to eat away at your fuel. You will struggle to get under 9L/100km in traffic with this car. But remember it’s driver dependent as well. This is just an average assumption.
Hi .. i bought cherry pro max facelift .. drive very good .but in fuel consumption not good
Awesome. Which other cars did you compare it to before you decided to buy the Chery?
There’s ways around it research it on RUclips use shell petrol
Great review. I think Kia shortage compete with Cherry Tiggo 7 pro though.
Thank you. Yes you are right. I’ll have a Tiggo 7 Pro Max review on the channel soon. Please subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already.
I must apologise in advance. This is my first encounter with your channel and as such i may mis-read a thing or two about your review.
That said, it sounds like you've under-researched this car. At best. For instance, the "AI robot" you speak of is able to open windows, sunroof, tailgate, adjust sircon, temperature, fan speed among many other features. This is just fundamental information that you should know as a reviewer. While this is not that important, versus how a car drives, for instance. The fact that you seem not to know it, makes it look like you haven't taken the time to test the car properly and that brings to question the quality of your critique. Obviously, the horse has bolted on this review. But my advice for your upcoming reviews is to thoroughly review a car before making the video so that your critique is based on a solid foundation.
The Tiggo 8 weighs 1.6 tonnes. Produces 187 kW/390Nm. Fuel consumption of around 8-9 l/100Km is not bad. In terms of practicality, it competes more with the Sorento than the Sportage. Considering the price difference. Most South Africans would rather take an "unrefined engine and suspension" and inferior fuel consumption of the Tiggo 8 over a Sorento any day. And this is showing, look at the sales figures. This is already among the top selling 7 seaters in South Africa, warts and all. South African motorists aren't stupid. They know good value when they see it. And, more critically, no one (in their right mind) buys a 7 seat SUV for its driving dynamics! Real petrolheads know this. They wouldn't bash a fat 7 seat family suv on the standards of a sportscar. Unless they were ill-informed or intentionally misleading their audience.
Hi Londa. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to write a detailed response. Your thoughts and insights are appreciated and I will take them into consideration for future reviews. Yes, you are correct the AI function can do many functions including open and close driver and passenger windows (front and rear) amongst many others.
I did not indicate these in the review for purposes of not making the video too long. No doubt the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has way more pros than cons. Whatever I mentioned was based on my personal experience of the car and not just what was mentioned on the spec sheet. (I was not thinking of any particular sports car in comparison).
You are correct. In size & practicality it competes with the Sorento. In price it is closer to the Sportage.
Just as an aside I tested out a few more of the "AI robot" functions on the Omoda C5 review.
Thanks again Londa for watching the video. For the 2023 year what are your favourite SUV's (It could be 5 seater or 7 seater)?
Great informative review👌
Thanks Reza. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
All 2L turbo in this weight of the car give the same or worst fuel economy. want to save fuel stick to 1.2 to 1.5L
true. It does make a huge difference. Have you seen my review on the Suzuki Eeco van? And also the Honda Elevate is quite fuel efficient. What are your thoughts on the Elevate? Have you seen my review on it?
I have chery omoda 5 ex purely awesome ❤

Thanks for good review
Thanks for the kind words and for watching Sipho. Were there any particular parts of the review that you enjoyed?
I'm driving the 2022 Tiggo 8 another issue I have is the fact that these cars do not have door auto lock . Frustrates me that I'm driving an SUV that cannot auto lock doors
Hi Aphiwe. Thanks for the insight. Yes that is frustrating. It’s not nice when a new, modern SUV does not have features that you would expect. Other than that, how has your experience been with your Tiggo 8? Would you recommend it to others?
@@MotoringAndTechWorld very good experience. It's a nice car packed with alot of features. I've had the car for close to 2 years now and still happy with it.
@@aphiwemagengelele2975 that is amazing to hear. When you get your next car would you consider getting the latest Chery Tiggo? I can see the popularity of the Chery's on the road and can definitely see why it is so popular. Is this the first Chinese car you owned? I receive many enquiries about the new Chery Tiggo's. It is really nice that an owner of the car is giving advice. Thanks for taking the time to share your insight. I am sure many people appreciate your advice. Even though people aren't replying to these comments they are definitely reading them :) Thanks again Aphiwe.
@@MotoringAndTechWorld I was actually looking at their new arrival. The Jaecoo 7. I want to check if out after Launch and do a test drive. I'd definitely buy a cherry again given that they improve on the minor things we complain about like the door auto lock thing (being a South African auto lock comes as a priority) , turbo lag when you hit the accelerator, also I think it would be worthwhile for them to consider a desiel variant for fuel efficiency. These ones on petrol are heavy but I understand because they are SUVs and most SUVs are heavy on fuel.
Would you recommend ot over a haval H6, (aside from the 7 seats)
Khalid, I have reviewed the Haval H6 hybrid and yes I would recommend the Haval H6 hybrid over this Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max.
@@MotoringAndTechWorldglad you recommended h6 hev. We planning to get one, the only downside is the missing spare wheel

@@MotoringAndTechWorld I'm based in South Africa. I'll share my thoughts after a few long drives
@@jay1900 that sounds good. Looking forward to it.
Most people I talk to it come down to price. You can compare it with other brands witch might be even beter but then most of them say it give them value for money
yes price is becoming more and more important as the price of new cars increase. you are absolutely right that people are looking at what they pay for. Many car buyers are looking for luxury at a good price rather than buying any budget car. And this is exactly what the likes of Chery and Haval are doing. What is your personal opinion of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max?
Just watched Malaysian, Philippines and Turkish reviews. Their opinion is 100% different from yours. Maybe it outshines the new Mahindra XUV700 that got slagged by the Aussie Reviewers.
Thanks for the insight and for watching. The variants differ per country. Have you seen my review on the Mahindra XUV700?
Its kinda looks like a Hector..... Nice review 👍
Thanks Ayush. What’s your thoughts on this Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max?
Hi .. i bought this one ... drive is very good but in fuel consumption not good
What fuel consumption are you getting?
@@MotoringAndTechWorldowner here. Bought it last year December. I now get 8.7l / 100km.
@@MrJohnRoccohonestly that's not bad
Is it already leaking oil 6:33
lol well spotted. No it’s not leaking oil. That is a mark on the road.
All wheel drive?
Hi Jeronimo. No it is a front wheel drive. There is rumours that there will be an All Wheel Drive variant coming to South Africa in 2024. This has not been confirmed yet though. Which country are you in?
Ya i also noticed the seat quaiity and the unresponsive screen. They could have done better there
indeed. Thanks for your insight and for watching. I will be releasing a review on the Omoda C5 soon. Keep an eye out for that one too.
Is the a Kia review. Have watched a couple of yours so far and all are Kia this, Kia that. Fuel consumption is determined by the driver. Heavy foot, more petrol. I drove a 3.5 v8 Rover for years and got a better fuel consumption than from my 1275 mini's.
100%. The driver does play a big role in the fuel consumption.
I'm nt sure was this a Kia Sportage or Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max review, please compare apples with apples... thanx 2 ur critics on the 8 Pro Max I'm currently busy getting the MY24 8 Pro Max AWD🎉😂😂😂
Will do. Thanks for commenting. I would love to hear your insights on your brand new car. By the way, if you want to see a real KIA Sportage review I do have them on the channel. Which cars were you deciding between before buying the Tiggo 8 Pro Max?
U welcome, I'm in the market of buying a 7-seater, so l did my research and compared the Kia Sorento, VW Tiguan, and Toyota Fortuner... BUT with all the technology and value for money, I've decided 2 go with the Chery 8 Pro Max AWD (I'm nt planning 2, buy another SUV 4 the next 10 years😊 7year service plan will do👌🏼)
@@mrjsam-wp4465 it's a great choice you made. value for money and technology is definitely there are you are not paying an excess for these features like the other cars you have mentioned. In my review of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max I was being a bit critical. There are many reviews showing how amazing this Chery is and rightfully yes. I just wanted to bring to attention a few things that I wanted to draw peoples attention to so they do not miss it. All cars have pros and cons. Sometimes its important to also know the cons to determine whether you can live with it or not. If you can then go ahead. I just want to give as much info as I can to help people make informed decisions. Maybe next time I will be a bit more balanced. Thanks again for watching and supporting the channel. I look forward to seeing your comments on my other videos. If there are any improvements or specific info that you think is important for me to include in my reviews I will do my best to do so. I appreciate all the insight and input. Thanks again. And enjoy your Chery.
It's totally understandable👌🏼, and thanks 4, the critics uve made, it helped me 2 make an informed decision 2 buy the AWD instead🙏🏼... keep up the great reviews👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼!!!
@@mrjsam-wp4465 it is my absolute pleasure! Which country are you in?
Chery cross over is too good. Person driving it might be drunk. He is lying about this car. I m also using chery 8 Pro in pakistan it has a tremendous power with silky smooth ride. Chery car is super intelligent car
Different countries don’t have the exact same specs and feel of car. There was a later model that came out after this one and I’ve reviewed the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max of the new model and it was much better and improved on all the things I spoke about. The particular one I drove was not really great. See my latest Chery review and you will understand. Thanks for the comment. Please note that when I review I base it on the current model I’m driving and feel of it. It doesn’t represent all Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max.
that car is totally voice activated, windows aircon sunroof radio, climate control, boot open etc
Yes the tech is really next level. If you forget your phone on the charging pad then it even reminds you to take your phone. I forgot to mention this. Chery has really went all out in the tech. It is really impressive. Have you driven one before? Or do you own one?
I'd like to see them focus on more important stuff like drive quality and suspension quality. Telling a car to open your window when the switch is right there by your arm seems to be more of a gimmick to me
