    Thinking about getting a volantex ranger for slow speed proximity and long range fpv. Which one do you prefer 1600/2000/2400? I was thinking the 2000 then I can get the 1600 wings if its too big. Kind of want something like the zohd drift that I can fly in less ideal conditions, more stability and more power to penetrate wind.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, sounds like a good plan! I do like the 2400 wings though... really stable at slow speed, but also more drag for longer range at higher cruising speeds!

    Wow! Both an impressive build and impressive end result in this Flying Dragon's flying abilities.
    You're skills a definitely a order of magnitude where I'm at, but really enjoy videos, as you share so many great insight that apply to any model plane.
    Regarding the cracks in the plastics, I'm wondering if its due to a lack of UV protection? A hint would be more noticeable marks on upper wing vs underneath. A UV lacker (paint), or just a strip of laminate covering would help protect. (UV tends to make plastic brittle. You may also notice a colour change in colour, or chalky surface appearance)

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад

      Thank you, really appreciate the nice things! :) As for the plastic... it hasn't spent that much time outside to be honest, have not yet looked on the underside, but the stress points would be different on both sides due to different types of loading - on top it is pressing the plastics together, on the bottom it is pulling them apart!

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад

      Like I show in the video, I was not able to get the Flying Dragon to get into a spin! As for the Clouds, it goes into a spin when the CG is wrong even by a little! CG needs to be a bit forward and this shouldn't happen!

    I want to build a dual motor long range plane, it seems to be a flip between X-UAV / MFD crosswind or something similar.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад +1

      Well... in my opinion the Crosswind has more potential for longer range than the Clouds, given it has more space on the inside... plus it is a very stable plane!

  • @bridgetstoli2347

    Could you build modular batteries that could be ejected as they ran out for longer flights?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  2 года назад

      Hahaha, what would be the point?! That would be one expensive flight! Also... they would have to be moved around as you eject them, so you can preserve the balance of the plane, which is yet another problem... so I can't see what could possibly be worth such a waste of money and effort?!

    • @bridgetstoli2347
      @bridgetstoli2347 2 года назад

      @@ArxangelRC Dead batteries are dead weight. They can be tracked and recovered. Ejecting in pairs would preserve the center of gravity.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  2 года назад

      @@bridgetstoli2347 Well... I am not sure that they would be worth recovering after falling from even a km up... not to mention that you never know where they would be dropped... so they might be in an area that is very hard to get to... making this even worse of an idea... and again... the problem with CG remains - how to move the remaining batteries after you drop the depleted ones!
