For me, this is the quintessential footage of true Rock-n-Roll at it essence; a shirtless man, hair flowing, unleashing a force of nature on his guitar while the band holds it all on the road.

This is from Live at Palladium - HALLOWEEN (1977). If you dug this you need to watch the entire performance. Frank closed the show with a rendition of Black Napkins. Steve Via has commented that he never heard anyone play the guitar like Frank did on that night. Coming from Via, that's saying something.

the big dude with makeup that he got to sing was a security guard, a fan ran on stage and shoved frank off at a show and he was seriously injured/could have died so from then in he would have a security guard on stage at all times but he wanted it to be apart of the stage presence hence the makeup and getting him to join in with the performance

Nice reaction. You are in luck, the complete show has been released on digital media incl a cd sampler, the full set comprising of ALL Palladium NYC Halloween shows that year (1977). Epic indeed. The show seem here was the actual Halloween show (released on video as Baby Snakes). In response to one of the other commenters, no his solos where definitely not scored! A lot of parts usually are (depending on the band and era) but Zappa enjoyed doing complex solos carried by simply (1 to 3) max) chord progressions. Kind of like his trademark. Listen to the 3 available all guitar solo albums the master has released, then you'll get the idea.

John Smothers, Frank's security guard, was the big guy that Frank handed the mike to. John was a fixture at every show right beside Frank ever since he was attacked on stage by a jealous fan who didn't like that his GF was a huge fan. That as a seminal moment in Zappa history, marking the end of the original Mothers of Invention.
And yes, the studio version is recommended, especially since this is only the end of the song.
