You know, this happened to me too. I thought I found the horse of my dreams, but the owner decided last minute that she didn’t want to sell, and I was devastated. I stopped looking for a new horse, and went about my life as normal. Then, my husband sent me a one-of-a-kind filly that was for sale (and she was below my initial budget as well!) I am so glad that the first horse we were looking at didn’t work out, as I found my heart horse instead. I wouldn’t trade her for anything and the bond we have is like no other. Your horse will find you too, and you’ll know it was meant to be. 💗
I remember the first time I bid in an online auction and bought a saddle (which was an expensive purchase for me). It was very close at the end and I was literally shaking from head to foot. Goodness knows what I'd be like if I was buying a HORSE! I think you did very well and I'm sorry you were disappointed but you know my neighbour always says "what's for you won't go by you", and sadly this wasn't the horse for you. I'm sure you will find your dream horse when the time is right.

Another wonderful source for adopting horses are the various programs for re-homing retired racehorses. The adoption fees range from free to around $2,500, depending on age and their status as prospective mounts for pleasure riding or competitive sport. Most deal with Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds, but you can also find off-track Quarter Horses, Paints and Arabians.
The selling prices at that auction were totally crazy. One horse went for over 9K! The BLM wild horse online site crashed right after the auction ended. Thank you for sharing your experience! It was so exciting, and then totally heartbreaking, of course.
It was so frustrating! I won my girl in that auction. I got her for $45 in the original one, and when they did the redo, despite no one else bidding on her basically the entire week before she went for $355. The Canon city was a nightmare to pick up. That whole auction was a nightmare! But I do love my girl.
On a related note to anyone who wants to bid in the BLM online auction, there's a Facebook page that is very helpful. Also waiting to the last few minutes to bid is NOT recommended as the sire crashes frequently :/
My 'dream horse' is a black or a buttermilk buckskin but I found a sorrel mare on the online corral, and I fell in love with her. So she's become the perfect horse in my eyes even if her coat wasn't originally my choice. I did end up getting her and on that note, I find it a much more guaranteed option to bid through the online corral since it's less confusing/chaotic and you can set up the automatic bids. Good luck with finding your dream horse!

I have 2 horses both of which would not have been considered my “dream” horses but they are the best things that have ever happened to me. And I passed up so many horses to have the 2 that I have. So when it’s meant to be it will be.

So sorry you weren't able to get her! I check that page routinely and not too long ago I found a gelding I was in LOVE with and went through the same scenario. It absolutely broke my heart, but that's auction I guess.
I have a bad habit of looking at horses that are for sale near me as well as horse sales and one day I was looking at a horse sale that was kinda far from where I am and I found my dream horse! He was PERFECT! 14 hands, 4 years old, great temperament, sound, well broke, level headed, kind, willing to please, started in roping and reining, was very much capable of going any direction in western riding. I was in love with him but was sure he was going to go for an arm and a leg... he did and I was heartbroken. It sucks but I haven’t lost hope yet maybe I’ll find my dream horse someday... the sooner the better cuz my current horse is going to be 31 soon.
Man, I can relate to this so much. I'm 5'9"-10" and my dream horse is a mustang, but... They're all so stinkin' tiny!!! And unfortunately the rare larger ones typically go for the highest price in these online auctions. Every time they list new horses, I browse through the 15+ handers and fantasize about which one I would bid on LOL.
Thanks for this, it's been my dream for a long time to adopt and train a mustang someday. Don't know if I'll ever get there but I still enjoy thinking about it.

You'll find the best and perfect horse hopefully sooner then later.. and who knows she might have been bad with ridding or something- I got my 3nd horse at an Auction not to far from my home and he was not on our list at all and he was extreamly sweet on ground but when i would try and ride him he would to mini rears.. I wouldnt ride him for long but the forth time i tried to ride him he ended up getting spooked from one of my dogs inside and he ended up bucking me off.. ... His old owners gave up on him because of this as he bucked them off aswell.. Just a bad habbit that he has.. were going to try and send him to a trainer as we dont have the right stuff to train him... Anyway i hope you get your dream horse soon ;) (And i love your vids!!
Paint is it’s own breed, it shouldn’t be too hard to find Paint Arabian crosses. I have never looked though. I also wouldn’t think finding an Arabian with pinto coloring would be too hard to find either! Don’t lose hope!!! God will give you your dream horse ❤️

The plain ones usually don’t get bids. If you tell a TIP trainer what you are looking for, they will try to find it for you. $125 from a TIP trainer
This is how I got my first (and only) mustang was through the internet auction.... Lost her at first and was lucky enough to have the winning bidder contact me and say she passed. Literally made me melt to the floor cause I was so happy! She checked very box I had and is my new best friend!! Love the mustangs so much and I cant wait to get another! (After I tell my mom I want another 🤣).... Sorry you lost your girl! She was absolutely stunning! But you'll find the right one! Just give it time! (It took me almost a year to find my girl)

Correct. When you enter an Extreme Mustang makeover the horse is not yours, it belongs to the BLM still and you are only contracted (basically) to train it, compete and then it gets auctioned off. It helps wild mustangs find homes
If the horse youre looking at is in one location but there’s a pickup location elsewhere that’s close to you, will they move them to the location of your choice when you adopt?

actually; there are Arabians of 16 hands...granted, not a lot, but they do exsist. Specially the Russian Arabians reach that height. But yes; you won't find a 100% Arabian in pinto colour

Bareback riding! It's great for bonding and it helps with your core strength in the saddle so it has benifets for both you and your horse.

Arabs are only solid coloured. If it's a paint, it isn't purebred. The white spotting gene isn't in the breeds bloodlines.

actually; there are Arabians of 16 hands...granted, not a lot, but they do exsist. Specially the Russian Arabians reach that height. But yes; you won't find a 100% Arabian in pinto colour
