I've dropped a few holes in past years for 50+ grams, it's hard work, up at Whela and near Moliagul. 7ft to 20ft is common if targetting wash. I'd be really interested in knowing where are why someone has been in recent years been sinking there. Figuring that out is more of a puzzle the trying to read the ground I reckon. If you're ever done with the spot I'd love to know where those holes are, haha
great vid DFG.👍👍👍 shows the pain and hardships we go through enjoying our passion. When you come home with colour somehow seems to make it all better. bullant stings and everything else. kep swinging mate- low and slow👍👍👍
Liiiike this vid,,your tool too, happy to see you happy, better than last vid, sick and/or sad face, Made me worry, I have my seasons too.Good job, friend, keep goin'ha ha,
I live in Alaska and I would like to go to Australia to do some metal detecting. Who would you recommend I contact for a ride out into the Outback to search for gold?
Not a lot (read: not any) "outback" prospecting happening down in Victoria so I have no idea, sorry mate. Probably want to look Western Australia way...
Great vid mate with a bit of everything, exploring, detecting and fails. Lol the car tailgate. Your new pick seems to work pretty good too digging up those little nuggies.
Cool video, like how your videos show the ups and downs of things that can happen prospecting, the making of the pick will be good video if you do it, cheers beau
That looks like a great pick! I’d like to see a video when you make the next one! Good grief about the latch! I can imagine you were not a happy camper. 0.19 is more than you hoped for! I’ve always wanted to ask. They put so much effort in the “diggers holes”, would it be worth jumping in one and going down a few more inches? Or punch into the side of one? There must have been gold or they would put the effort in. Just curious. Great video as always!
Im just as curious as you. So hopefully someone with more knowledge comes along and enlightens us both. Seems logical enough to me though. I mean if im finding gold in the tailings then surely there will be more below if punch a new hole between some of the old holes.
I can only imagine that digging a hole that big wouldn't be allowed. Maybe not directly, but because of other rules. Like, you're only allowed to dig up to 1 cubic meter per day, and have to put it all back by the end of the day, or something like that, y'know. But one could easily do it and get away with it though, depending on the location...just not if they're posting it on RUclips haha.
hey mate, we have done a fair bit of detecting over the years in comfort and now we are putting our Commander up for sale, it is a great vehicle, reliable and safe, we have avoided caravan parks like a plague, we had the freedom of so many places that are hard to reach with the peace and quiet that comes with it, found some good gold and fished some amazing places. if you want to see a video on it visit RUclips and search for: 4x4 motor home SLRV Commander , you will notice the new paint job and we have made a few upgrades, if you are interested contact us and do an inspection, you will not be disappointed😁 REPLY
Oh shoot, sorry for the crazy late reply mate. This got spam filtered out and I didn't find it till now since I mostly just use the RUclips creator app which doesn't show spam folder. Anyways, I just had a look on RUclips...and yeah, that thing is amazing. But I ain't going to beat around the bush: there is NO WAY I could afford sonething like that so thanks, but no thanks. Maybe one day, but that day aint today. Best of luck with the sale!
Strange that you did not noticed any smell from the exhaust when the tail gate opened , what kind of steel did you use for the pick ? I hope you are having better luck next time you are out ,cheers
If anything it was the dust. Fumes were imperceptible. The dust I could feel between my teeth. An i just used mild steel. Obviously not going to be as strong as it could be, but unless im in crazy hard ground or bashing rocks with it i think it'll last a while judging by its first outing. Worst case I'll have to get the mallet out and straighten it. Am going to make another one with the remaining steel over the weekend and will reinforce it a bit this time.
Get yourself some white bentonite clay and a bottle of Juniper Essential oil. Carry a tiny tupperware container and if you get bitten/stung mix the clay to a paste with the Juniper EO and put it on the sting. 5 minutes and you'll forget you were bitten.
thanks for the remedy tips. two days ago stood on a unseen nest and now recovering from 8 bites-stings. masssive swelling on hands, stomach and underarm. 👍👍👍
When im driving up a crazy rough track the car is making noise, and with trees 2inches from either side of my vehicle I was firmly concentrated on the front end...
Well yeah you cant really go wrong with the gpx5000 though ey. You're only really losing the slighly better portability, and the waterproofing (and maybe the ease of use), but gaining loads more versatility and bigger deeper targets.
@@DigginForGold wipe it on like a lot let it soak in for a few days than just wipe it down with cloth few days before you use it , u can use cooking oil i just use diesel sump oil from my services on my wood stuff that weathers outside works good

Yeah the 2300 was just about the only thing that didnt fall out as I'd stowed it away safely on the back seat thankfully

looking good boy just keep wiping the handel with some sump oil from your car it will last longer than you think soak it good
I might just do that. Will it feel greasy to the touch for a few uses or something though?
