Pick up Thor here: amzn.to/2qBV7zY
D.I.C.K. : Director of Intelligence and Classified Knowledge
Way better than mine.
D.I.C.K. = Director of Intelligence Coercion and Kickassness
Rob's rundown on Stark trying to make Thor register was priceless, and so was that scene nice job Sal and Jason! I WOULD LOVE to see this scene playout in the MCU imagine Tony trying to make Thor register when he returns to Earth , lol
I saw the thumbnail and I was like "WOW, Ben looks different.... WAIT A SEC! IT'S JASON" XD
"Ehh, I'd still notice all this shit." My favorite Sal quote ever.
Thanks for letting talk until I was THOR! haha.
Sorry for the bad joke. Just glad to show up.
THOR welcome back, anytime!
Glad to see DC sent you to the east coast! We get the Avengers East Coast/West Coast Reunion Crossover finally!!! lol Oh and in response to the video:
Iron Man: D.I.C.K. of SHIELD
(Director of Irrational Communication and Killing)
Jawiin It's all about the JOURNEY. ... into MYSTERY! Yes, I do amuse myself. Great episode, guys!
You were awesome, man. And trust me you weren't THORing. :)
Jawiin We weren't worthy of that joke.
After this, I really want you guys to do Jason Aaron's run on Thor because it's great and got me into Thor in comics.
"if you ever see mjonir, might as well try to lift it." unless your in the ultimate universe lol.
Imagine how great neal gaiman's Thor would be.
Read Neil's book on Norse Mythology. It's great! Even Swedes and Norwegians have complimented him on how the Aesir were portrayed in Sandman.
I never knew it was JMS who did the Twain quote in Civil War, nice.
I live like an hour and a half from Broxton, Oklahoma. Can confirm, nothing here.
You know I would seriously watch the whole video of the comic pipe crew playing with those Batman toys they got on the last page
Great video, guys!! Keep up the awesome work. Definitely want to see a back issues for the Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic, The God Butcher / God Bomb, run. Favorite Thor story of all time.
Tony Stark D.I.C.C (misspelled for extra cool factor)
Dude
Instigating
Crappy
Change
I read that Straczynski Spider-Man issue (The Conversation issue #38) Sal recommended a while back. It's fantastic!
I just start watching this episode, and totally missed the fact that Jaiwinn was on the couch until I heard him speak and was like "That's not Ben or Ethan" lmao
Haven't seen this yet but JMS's Thor is my Thor. It's the first run of the character that I read when I got into comics. Keiron Gillen did a bang up job after him and kept his tone mostly through his run but I couldn't get into other runs till except Aaron's current run.
With Jason on here I know this will be a good episode.
Am I the only who didn't know who Jason was so when they casually strolled through introducing Jason I'm like WAIT HOLD UP WHO ARE YOU? ARE YOU A RANDOM FRIEND OF SAL ARE YOU A RUclipsR? I loved what he brought to the couch and much like the book covered in this episode he had a lot of great moments.
They kinda followed up with The 50 State Initiative. They did Avengers: The Initiative for a few years. I really dug it. really utilized the marvel universes C and D list characters that never got used more than 3 for 4 times. the first comic run I read all the way through its run.
The premise for the way that Thor awakes the Balor seems like it is very similar to Ananke in The Wicked + The Divine (Tiffany reveiwed it with Daneill in a episode of Hack and Splash Page)
HOLYFUCK HE'S ON THE COUCH!!!
*AGAIN!!!!!!!*
came here looking for this comment
At about 8:15 Sal proves what we all knew; he is worthy.
About JMS Spider-Man: I bet Tom Holland would love to do an adaptation of that run if he had the opportunity to play Spider-Man up until the age of 35.
That bit about Jeff Goldblum at the beginning had me laughing until I remembered... Wasn't he blue - and furry! - in Earth Girls are Easy?...
From what I heard, Idris Elba hated being in Thor 2. I believe that he didn't know he was contractually obligated to be in it. So he moved onto some other, bigger and more serious roles, and was then notified he had to come back, get into the makeup and costume, and film his parts. Which he wasn't happy about.
Man today was a boring day, I needed this. Also Jason should bring some of the Weekly Pull onto the Schmoedown InnerGeekdom Championship.
im waiting for the day we get sal vs rocha or sal vs macuga lol it would be awesome! or sal on geek history lesson. cheers friend.
OH MY GOD. JASON IS ON THE COUCH. HOLY CRAP!
Didn't know Jason lived in OK! I'm from the OKC area and absolutely LOVE this run. Really wish Oklahoma was as popular for filming back in 2011 so Broxton or another smaller town could've been featured in Thor.
"Or burn him"
-Jason, 2017
I literally just finished rereading this run on comixology. Thank you for putting this up. What fun!
I bought that thor and ironman figure combo pack that had the issue of them fighting. Great purchase and always wanted to read rest of the story
thor is a criminally underrated character imo
Whoa! I was hoping that after the X Men video, yall did something more with Jason but I didn't expect a Back Issues. Can't wait to watch this one!
It's funny, the version of the story of JMS's beef with Marvel editorial that I heard (and I stress that I don't know how true this is) was that JMS was fully briefed and aware that Marvel wanted Thor and the new Asgard status quo to be central to Siege from the start. Like, those were the editorial terms that he agreed to. But when it came time to actually participate in writing Siege, JMS didn't want to (maybe he just wanted to keep writing Thor stories uninterrupted?). And so he took his proverbial ball (writing/story plans) and went home.
Tiff's face at 19:12 says it all XD
Thanks for the show. you make the work day go by so fast.
You guys are great, you put a big smile on my face. Verily
so great to see jawiin on the couch. jason could you get sal on the collider trivia schmoedown? i think sal would dominate!
You guys know that the no you move speech comes from Mark Twain, right? Right!?
I really loved this. More crossovers. More hero variety.
I think Jawiin has been the best guest host so far!
Iron Man - D.I.C.K. (Deputy Inspector Controller of Knobs) @ S.H.I.E.L.D.
Replacing all knobs and dials and keeping them at their right setting since 1969!
Groovy Baby!
Great episode and that thumbnail of lifting Mjolnir looks boss
My first Thor run pretty nostalgic this episode
Loved this volume. Was my first thor read
Is there no love for Walt Simonson's Thor on that couch?
Mango Man That was my Thor
Mango Man My THOR too! Love Simonsons cartooning. He currently has a book out entitled RAGNAROK that is pretty old school. That said, Jason Aaron is badass on THOR!
That era made it more myth based. Walt used lots of bits of the eddas
I love Simonson's art, but Esad Ribic's art is just so perfect with how epic and mythic he makes everything look.
Fraction's Ages of Thunder mini really drew heavily from norse myth too. I enjoyed that more than his run in continuity
i had commented that it would be cool that yaw( comic pop and jawiin) do a back issues and here every one on back issues .. im going to enjoy this !!lol
5:25 Jawiin's amazing impression of Jeff Goldblum..!!
On a lighter note, does anyone else think this guy is Ryan Reynold's lost twin..? Both in looks and voice/actions. Like a Separated at Birth story or something..?
Actually JMS was involved in the screenplay of the first Thor movie.
Is this the first Thor back issues ?! AWESOME !!!
We also did Thor vs Thanos!
ComicPOP Right I totally forgot ! That was AWESOME too !!!
Bill the Dinner guy was great loved his story.
IIRC Mark Millar rejected doing Thor for Ultimate Fantastic Four in 2005. It would have been interesting seeing how Thor fitted with the New Avengers pre-Civil War bs.
YES MORE JASON ON COMIC POP!
I hope that when the thor movie comes out they do Thor the God butcher i really want to hear sal and tiffanys thoughts on it
Kieron Gillen comes in after JMS leaves and basically writes an ending to this run, wrapping it all up.
I like the fact that Donald Blake doesn't exists anymore, makes Thor less complicated.
My birthday just got even better!!!
+Payton Lowry Happy birthday!
Payton Lowry Happy (now belated I think) Birthday!!
We need a special Tangent made for Sal's explanation on "Move the car George"
really liked this run, esp part 2 with lokis crazy plan and the Bor fight. Still prefer the God Butcher run but this was a great reinventing the character.
39:45 Lady Thor goes way back from the 70's in a what if story where Jane Foster lifted Thor's hammer. Her character was called Thordis
Edit: I just realized this video is old and no one will see this comment
Nico Lodeiro I just saw it
I'm actually a huge fan of the winter soldier arc, but I didn't read it until fairly recently. I'd love to hear your take on it
Great episode! I think JMS actually wrote the script for the first Thor movie, so this volume is a rough draft?
Tony Stark, D.I.C.K. of S.H.I.E.L.D: Director of Idiocracy and Condemning Kindness of Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division
Thor had a knack for finding bills to be bros with
This has been really fun having Jason on back issues. Maybe he can get sal and Tiffany on collider heroes? I think Jon Schnepp would like what they do. Sweatys unite lol.
Treeshaker Marc we would love that!
Yeeessss!!! Jawin!!! Thor!!! Fuck yes. And I have just enough time before work to watch this. I need a slice of pizza to go with this...
Ja-for the win-Inman, again? I'm not complaining!!
I've had an awesome day since it's my birthday and a back issues to top it off even better
Wait a second, I thought there was something else Jason was going to help discuss on the couch. Something about the future in the process of ceasing.......
People only thought that because they wanted to.
Yeah. That's my bad. Sorry about that. My hubris got me. That's a seppuku for me.
D.I.C Director of Internal Commands
it looks like ethan and ben got smooshed together into one guest star lol
Idris Elba has gone on record saying he doesn't like playing heimdall, and I agree with him
moments like "move the car george" are fun character moments
D.I.C means director in charge
RIP Redundant Giant man :( :( :(
i read this aat a comic shop once
it was great love tiffanys outfits
YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAGGGGHHHH I've read part of this but THOR!!!! favorite Marvel Character
Man, now I really want a Tiff Sailor Moon episode.
49:12 i think you meant fear itself
I know Jason from Geek History Lesson, and that's where 90% of my comic knowledge comes from
I can't believe you made a Gamera reference!
Have Lady Sif and Thor be king and queen of Asgard then make Angela the new Goddess of Thunder.
Seems like a decent set up for a new direction.
jawiin & comicpop! nice!
lol I would just love if the movies ever did Donald Blake and make it just as complicated as the comics
Jason on back issues?!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!
If you're gonna have another guest on, please consider Sam Bashor.
lewaproductions yeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssss!!!!!
D. I. C. K. - Director of International Classification of Kerfuffle
Adam Thenhaus Excellent use of "kerfuffle"!
they actually did something with his brother in the civil war 2 tie in its the one with nick fury going on his own solo mission
Please do Wonder Woman The Hiketeia next week!!!!! Also I love seeing Jason on the couch
omg have to hit like before watching, its another crossover
Jason here equals instant like! him and ask work well together
donald blake, thor, and the odin-son = the father the son the holy ghost hahahaha
More Jason please!!
Universe and Paradise X... painful memories
When I looked at the title I thought, "Jason Inman wrote this? Why is that name so familiar?" And then I watched the first 10 seconds of the video and thought, "Oh! Jason Inman is the guest and I know the name because I watch this channel a lot! Also, I'm a big dumb idiot!"
Re: Donald Blake. IIRC, it was back in the sixties where they retconned Donald Blake to not be a real person. He was just a lesson to teach humility to Thor. In the 80s with Simonson, he lost the ability to transform to Donald Blake when Beta Ray Bill showed up.
is it possible that we may have more guests on back issues? or is it a limited thing.
Geekgodz1 they said if they can get guests on they would love to have them.
Londo and G'Kar are two of the best sci-fi characters ever. Babylon 5 is, at it's best, beautiful and profound.
This is going to be a lot episode because Jason is on back issues!!!
