I'm glad you didn't miss Intramuros.
It's a good place to learn more about the Philippines.
If you'll ever go to Manila again, I hope you visit Rizal Park or Luneta.
It's actually really close to Intramuros.
Luneta has many gardens and you can access 3 national museums from there (National Museum of Anthropology, National Planetarium, and National Museum of Natural History).
These museums are free for the public.

Baluarte de San Diego is a spade-shaped bulwark located inside the historic district of Intramuros in Manila City. This fort was created from the remains of the upper portion of a circular watch tower built from 1586-1587. It was actually a circular watchtower. It was damaged during the 2nd world war and reconstruction was not finished to this day. 🙂

    • @matoki99
      @matoki99 9 месяцев назад +2

It wasn't damaged, the circular tower was filled by the Americans and it was forgotten till the excavation and reconstruction of the bastion in the 70s. However the ramparts of the Bastion was partially destroyed during the war. The early Stone tower keeps collapsing after its construction and decided to keep the tower foundation and incorporate it to the ace spade shaped Baluarte de San Diego or Bastion of St. James in English in the 17th century.

The original Academia Militar known as Philippine Military Academy now was in Malolos Bulacan 1898. Then after the war, it was moved to Intramuros in 1905. It relocated to Baguio City in 1908 at Camp Henry Allen and later in Teachers Camp. After WW2, it reopened in Camp Allen in 1947. Then it moved in a year or 2 to its present site Fort Del Pilar.

At the start of the video, in San Agustin Church--that is called a pulpit where priests used to go up and give their sermon (talk). Perhaps you'd also like to visit the San Agustin Museum right beside the church; the Casa Manila across, and further straight ahead, the Fort Santiago. There's the National Museum that is free and airconditioned (closed on Mon) 😊

❤❤❤❤❤Anyeonghaseyo, Kim Family! This is truly another one of your BEST videos!! Subscribers like me share every bit of your excitement and happiness while you tour around historic Intramuros! Spain built that "Walled City" and Japan was the last foreign invader to occupy it (1942--1945). Jose Rizal might be the national hero, but the most celebrated Filipino revolutionary hero is ANDRES BONIFACIO to whom BGC (formerly part of Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City) takes its name from!!❤❤ Dumaguete also has its own historical places (Try Google and RUclips searching) that you might consider visiting upon your return to your "City of Gentle People" home. Stay SAFE always...Gamsahabnida!!❤🇰🇷❤🇰🇷❤🇰🇷❤🇰🇷❤🇰🇷

We know our country’s imperfection in some ways - pollution in some part specially the metros, transport inconvenience, squatting (poverty in some areas) and probably even some people who may have scammed you (the Tailor whose Shop was close when you were getting your childrens costumes). But despite that we hope that you may continue to love our Country..that you are experiencing better things here in PH than the bad ones.. that you consider our Country your second home… be the place where your children will be educated the way you want them to. Try to visit Luzon area later (up north)..stay healthy and happy.. thats what life is..

How to use spoon and fork. Usually, spoon is used to scoop rice, soup and saucy food using the fork to bring food to the spoon. Fork may be used to pick up solid food and more solid ice cream and sometimes sticky rice. Use spoon on your strong or writing hand. Fork is also used to eat Cakes and pasta one. Use either spoon or fork to cut food even using them both at the same time like a knife. Usually, filipino viand/food are taken together with rice, putting them on the spoon at the same time to enjoy filipino food better and to neautralize strong taste of filipino meal food.

The Philippines was a colony of Spain from 1521 to 1898, which is a total of 377 years. In 1898, the Americans bought the Philippines from Spain, and we became a colony of the United States until 1946 which lasted for 38 years. Even during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines from 1942 to 1945, we remained under American control. In 1946 The United States gave our Freedom.

That cathedral door isn't just 400yrs old, the timber came off the ship that the priests who built the cathedral arrived in. They basically arrived, knew there was no sailing back, and had the vessel dismantled.
Today if you want it to open in sync with the bride's entrance meaning they have to close it then open it just at that moment instead of just opening and closing it once for the whole day, they charge about $300++. It goes towards maintanance of the door plus premiums on insurance policies they need to have.

I hope you go there soon. Pls remember to go there with enough time before closing so you can visit that structure on the left side (can't remember anymore what's that bldg called) far back where visitors can view inside Rizal's original pair of pants and suit, also a copy (I think, not sure if that is an original one) of his Noli Me Tangere novel... I always felt thrown back to the time when Rizal was still alive. It gave me chills looking at his personal stuff there. For a while, I feel this deep patriotic feeling everytime I go there. Well, not been there for a couple of years but will go there soon also. Hope you enjoy your visit. Also, you may continue your visit by going to the Paco Park. It used to be a cemetery. It's a small circular park where Rizal's body was buried before it was transferred under that monument in Luneta Park. It's beautiful & calming. It has an air-conditioned church there. Not a lot of people got there cause not too many knows this park. A fountain in the middle of the park (sometimes the it isn't running) and you can climb the circular walls and view the outside since the walls are actually made of vertical layers of tombs. If you aren't familiar with this park, pls don't be scared. It's a tranquil place to be when you just wanna be alone. I go there to chill, eat and just draw. And, the park actually has a clean CR.

Inside the church you pointed called pulpit, that pulpit where friars stand when they are sermoning back at the day.
Also known Intramuros or The Walled City one of oldest districts of Manila where our national hero of philippines Dr. Jose Rizal was detained in Fort Santiago before he was executed at Bagumbayan or also known in modern day Luneta on December 30,1896.
As a matter of fact some wall and the main entrance of Intramuros, were destroyed during Japanese invasion in Philippines at Battle of Manila during WW2.

I hope you visit the RIZAL PARK too.. it's also near in intramuros. It's a big park. It is where u can see his monument and the start of Kilometer zero (KM 0). Where all the distance of the Philippines start.
