2NE1's debut song "Fire" back in 2009 actually introduced the whole Philippines to Kpop because of Sandara herself. She was very well-known here in our country before debuting in a Kpop group. I remember their song "Fire" being played almost everyday, everywhere and in every occassions.
but let also be honest that one of the reason why sandara became that famous is because of k-drama meteor garden. and that the same reason why hero won.

When Sandara debuted in Korea, that's the time that Kpop finally entered the Philippines since their song is played in FM radio and on TV. She also holds the title of "Pambansang Krungkrung." I totally remember the song "Fire" is always played on some occasions.

MYGHAAAAAAAAAAD ANG LAKAS MAKA THROWBACK!!!!!!! When I was a kid, I used to imitate her outfits-overlapping clothes + high colorful socks. I also memorized the choreography of Walang Sabit (OST of one of her advertisements) which I danced everyday in the school service during 4th grade. I also saw her when she had a mall show here in my province, a few years before she flew back to Korea. I LOVE SANDARA SO MUCH. 😭😭😭 She was the reason why I became a kpop fan during its golden years.

Damn, I was a little kid when SCQ aired but it was definitely a big deal and an extremely popular talent show. The other contestants were also iconic back in the day but Sandara was very unique because she was a foreigner too and was quirky before it was cool. It's amazing how she stayed humble and now she is a kpop super star which both the Philippines and S. Korea is proud of!

When my grandfather was still alive, I bond with him by watching Dara on Starcircle quest show.. he was 70yrs old. I can say he was a fan of Dara. He was not a fan of other celebrities. If I remember it clearly, Sandara was the popular questor in her batch because SCQ Season 1 was aired in the midst of the popularity of Meteor Garden, and they called her "San Cai" because she kinda looked liked Barbie Xiu. People begin to love her more because she have a bubbly personality, thus she was called "Krung-krung" for her fun, crazy, and bubbly personality.
This is not a guess. I grew up watching Sandara Park from SCQ 'til she became "Dara" in 2NE1.
Korean culture entered the Philippines because of her. Before her, Mexican Telenovela, America culture, and Taiwanese drama are the king on television. She is literally the best ambassador Korea can have to the Philippines and now she is reciprocating and introducing our culture to Korea. She is a Filipino through and through even without having a single drop of Pinoy blood in her veins.

As for kdrama it was lovers in paris, coffee prince and princess hours which were first to make hype for kdrama in PH.

So when she debuted with 2ne1, she was more than ready. Ive met her before filming several days in a private university. she is kindness and sweetness personified, deserves more tbh.

Sandara Park 's nickname in the Philippines is Sandy. I'm home birth and that person who help my mother gave birth make a mistake 😂 my mom said that the midwife named me. Sandara to Cindy. I'm Cindy now but my mom and my mom's bff calling me Sandara. Cindy and Sandy sound the same so she thought my mom said Cindy 😭. Sorry for my bad grammar 😂😂
This just proves that Filipinos are not prejudiced. As long as you are a good person & you embrace the culture, the Filipinos give back what you deserve & more. Remember also that Sandara isn't the only foreigner who made it in the Philippines. There is also Ryan Bang & Yachang, a Japanese who decided to leave the limelight.
