  • With the arrival of the first 2015 981 Boxster GTS, I film this short driving review, highlighting what makes it great, how it differs from the 981 Boxster S 3.4 that it is based on and also discuss whether it is worth the extra over the S model. Enjoy!

Great video Raj, glad to see the hood is down! I think you’ve summed up the GTS line perfectly. I was looking at the GTS before buying my Cayman S. Whilst I love the idea of a top spec’d car and the prestige of the GTS badge, I thought that the S presented better value for money and about 90/95% of the same experience depending on spec. Sports exhaust is such a must on these cars from my perspective, just sounds amazing 😍

Interesting video Raj as I have just bought a 2014 Boxster S (as you know!). Doubtless one can pick up on the enhancements and nuances with the GTS but it seems one has to pay a handsome premium for that bit of exclusivity. Therein lies the problem. Will it stay in the garage a bit too often because you're afraid of putting on the miles and depreciating the value and condition of your pride a joy. This is what happened to me with my 993 C2S. So, I went out and bought a more usable performance Porsche in the form of the Boxster S. I'm pleased with my decision and I don't long for that 'extra bit'. As Raj said, you can put nearly all these extras on the S. For my money, I would go for well spec'd S ... and drive it!

I believe the GTS enhancements are more about aesthetic and interior trim over power. The two cars (S and GTS) are so close on the stats that you’d struggle to get a piece of rice paper between them. The S 0-60: 4.2 The GTS 0-60: 4.1, The S 0-100: 10.4, The GTS 0-100: 10.1. Figures sourced from official Porsche spec sheet. No denying, both are fantastic drivers cars.
