DIY: Hack an Intex air pump to run on a USB power bank

- Today, I will show you how to run an Intex air pump using a USB power bank. This particular one uses six C type alkaline batteries. Model number of this pump is AP638. Cost: $7 from Walmart.
I just tried something similar while camping. I had the same pump and a makita 18v battery. Only wire was about 8” of residential solid 12-2 and only tool was a pocket knife. One of the wires slipped and created a short and caused electrical smoke. Whoops. I’m glad to see I was on the right track with my McGyver hack job though lol
You Rock! Love the commentary. :)
Your jokes are always on point great work as usual
Thanks! This answers all of the questions I came here with. However... 20 A x 4.2 V = 84 Watts ... so what is going on there? :))
you got me at crossing the pacific, then you threw another one to breaking the prison.. :))
priceless!
Nice job, btw.
:D. Thanks Mukesh.
Hilarious indeed😂
Brilliant!!!!
Very much so!!!
Nice. :) Amusing too. :)
Thankyou for your support and information of this air bomb, I lost this information to the use of this bomb, for any years. Thankyou, thankyou, for your help, happy day, and merry christmas.
Great video ! I have the exact same pump. It is marked as 25W(atts). So I am puzzled as to how the unit could draw close to 20Amps given that the input voltage is just 4.5v. Any ideas?
I don't understand that either, shouldn't it be 5.556 amps
any tips on how to convert this to just a wall plug? or even cigarette lighter plug? thank you!
I need someone's help. I got a pool tube lounge chair that's motorized.. it takes 6 D batteries... What can I do easily to not use them batteries.. what can I do
Would there be a way to make the pump go slower? Would decreasing the voltage help, or should I decrease the amount of current that goes through it? Could I put some type of potentiometer in between? I would like to use the pump to make some type of Powered Air Purifying Respirator. As the pump runs on less than 5V, I thought it might be useful. Any ideas?
vuaeco YOU NEED TO MOTORIZE THA RAFT!! THAT WOULD BE TOOL COOL, TRYING TO JUMP THE WAVES PEOPLE WOULD THINK YOU ARE CRAZY HAHAH UP LATE AGAIN WITH STUMP PAIN, GOT TO TAKE THE MEDS TO KEEP MY HEART PUMPIMG AND STUMP FROM HURTING HAHAH GOOD TO SEE YOUR VIDEOS AGAIN, BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL NEED TO BINGE WATCH TO CATCH UP. I WILL BE GOING TO GET BATTERIES FOR MY WHEELCHAIR BUILD, WHAT POWER PACKS DO YOU THINK WILL GIVE ME THE MAX POWER? I REMEMBER YOUR VIDEO SHOWING LAPTOP BATTERIES VS TOOL HIGH DRAIN BATTERIES IN YOUR RC CAR! LOVED THAT VIDEO, WOULD LOVE YOUR OPINON, GOING TO TRY AT RECYCLE PLACE TO GET THEM FREE. , YOUR YOU TUBE FRIEND OLD ONE LEGGED JOSEPH T RETIRED NAVY
A motor on this raft will just rip off the rubber. But yeah, it'll be cool to jump the waves on this even just for a couple minutes! :D
So sorry to see you hospitalized. Get well soon. You've served all of us so we can enjoy the peace and freedom today. My hat's off to you, Joseph. Right on memorial day, too!
Regarding power packs, it depends on how far you want to go on it. If you don't go that far and have access to a wall outlet to charge your battery pack, I'd use the Kobalt 24V packs. Two of the 4Ah packs should be enough power. You can also hack the 2Ah packs and put 2 in parallel and that's $10 cheaper! :D You can use laptop cells but you'll need to put about 10 or more in parallel to get enough discharge current. You might not have enough room in your wheel chair for that many cells, though.
And how much time i can get with power bank 20000 mah !! Thank you
I enjoyed this video :)
After you get the boat inflated, run the pump into the water to turn it into a jet motor. Ok maybe not.
Maybe not for an air pump but a submersible water pump will do.
Build A Wall Outlet Powerbankcan you do one of this
LIKE A SUMBOOOOOODY
It's getting old, mate.
vuaeco that never gets old my dude😂
What size wire did you use?

Thank you very much. I like you videos.
