I dont know about all of you, but I would LOVE to see Timeless River make a comeback, especially if they decide to play it as King Mickey's first exposure to the Keyblade. Or perhaps, the "Mickey" from Timeless River could be independent with its own silly agenda.
Just saying there is some fun opportunity here.
They are free to legally do what they want, but that wouldnt be the only thing stopping them. They still gotta play nice, because they wouldnt want to go too far and risk displeasing their partners in this series. It is ultimately still a collaberation.
If they present a script/notes, and Disney says "no, we dont want you to give Steamboat Willy a Nobody named Lixwyl" Square will still have to listen if they want healthy collaboration.
Though maybe Lyxwill can still be a thing if Disney is feeling like having fun =p

Honestly this is great and also not so great, because now we get ansolute trash like "Whiney the pooh - blood and honey"
Willie, Winnie, and Peter Pan - The list is only going to grow from here.
I don't think Square would use Steamboat Willie without talking to Disney. Tarzan, on the other hand...
As far as KH is considered, I honestly can’t see this changing too much. Since Disney still (probably) has the final word over this game, if they don’t like how something is being conveyed or used, they’ll say something to SE.

I couldnt agree more, even though this does grant them a certain degree of freedom, at the end of the day they have to remain respectful to the property, which at the end of the day is best.

I played timeless river the other day again. A return to that world with a well written story would be sick
Is Peter Pan fully out of copyright or just the original? Could be like what happened with Winnie the Pooh I think with how recently the animated Disney Peter Pan is
I dont believe he is fully out just yet. Even if his character is i believe Wendy and Hook are still restricted.
Give me more of this world.
Let them use this world as a device for telling another story through this prism
having a disney game use anything from that era will be a no go. disney will want to distance from willie because of the horror ip’s, and their family friendly audience. they won’t use willie again

Well they don't have copyright anymore but they still own trademark. Trademarks are forever if you keep renewing them every 10 years.
Square Enix nor Nomura will take advantage of the situation. It’s not worth possibly tarnishing their otherwise positive relationship with Disney. They’d have a direct conversation about it and still stay within the bounds of what Disney is comfortable with.
Unfortunate because I’d love to see without restrictions what would result otherwise.
I hope the union leaders are in Kingdom Hearts 4 we would get to see kingdom hearts Union x characters like Brain, Ephemer, Skuld, Lauriam, Elrena, Strelitzia and Ven it would be great to see all those characters together again
