Dear Jonathon, WOW! Just wow!! Painted love is right. You make such beautiful pieces. I'm one of the ones who discovered you through your decoupage. I'm amazed at what you did here making a terazzo finish. Lovely. My sister gave me an 1800s buffet from her barn and it's been sitting in my garage now for two years. I'm going to study your tutorials for a while more before I touch it. I'm so glad that I found your channel. Thank-you. Suzi
Where are you now I want to say wow that’s because you left me such a lovely comment I so do appreciate it and I truly hope that you find something within my channel that inspires you to go away and shower you’re a piece of furniture with love so that you can enjoy it every day 😊❤️🏆🙏
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove Dear Jonathon, I live on a lake in New Hampshire, USA in a small town in a rural area of the state. My sister has a horse farm where her inlaws have lived for 250 years - she is so buried in antiques that this buffet was of no interest to her. I thought it was a fabulous and very intimating piece since I'm a beginner. I am already so inspired by your work that I have to discipline myself a bit so I don't ruin this buffet. That's why I'm going to watch your tutorials enough times to be comfortable with the process before I start work. I've already decided to go dark...like your black...it's quite a departure for me, but it's such a beautiful look. Oh, and I'm going to cover my books (I really liked that trick of yours.) How did you come by so much knowledge? You're the best. Love to you and Mr. Mendes, Suzi
Dear JMM ... Something new to see !
You're drawing in Fans who stop in & then think ," I love it -- I'm going to try that " ... The seed you plant is growing & spreading ! Very good ideas & you share & instruct in such a positive way -- You know, John Fowler started as a decorative painter !
Best to you & Mr. M ( & beautiful kitty )
Hi thank you so so much I really appreciate your lovely comment and the words 😊😊❤️
Wow, just fabulous Jonathon!
@@traceyallen8286 thank you very much. It’s a fun project.😊❤️🙏
OMG, this would not have crossed my mind, not in a million years! But the result is outstanding. And quite simple if you think about it. Gosh, you really are a pioneer!
I just say Wow! Amazing 😍❤️

Absolutely beautiful! I have never been a big fan of terrazzo but I am now! Stunning!
Never heard of this. Will look on Pinterest too. X
Love this look.
Missed it again. Love the result
Love it!!! I have picture frames I could do this technique on as well as a tabletop. Thank you.
I have been intrigued by the dried paint on my mixmat-the chalky little chips inspired you too. Well done!
What else can be said but that you are a genius! I so admire people with the level of creativity you constantly show us. And I promise to give you all the credit when I try your techniques!!
Oh thank you very very much that really makes my heart sing I’m truly grateful 😊❤️🙏

@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove your mind must work overtime coming up with these ideas Jonathon❣️Thinking🤔, could even be applied to a floor lol? 😉🥰
Very c!ever idea, turned out beautifully! Thank you

You are genius!!! Thank you!
Way to go, Jonathon!! I had no doubt it would work!! I adore that Lilly was the one to show off the piece! 🐈 🫶🏻
Thank you so much and Lily says thank you too 😊😊😊
What an awesome faux finish - can't wait.to try it !!
Amazing job!
Oh my goodness you really do stunning work. I cannot wait to try it. Cheers from Canada!
looks amazing
Love this look! Thank you so much for trying this out. I can't wait to do this for myself. Beautiful!!
I wish I could see Annie’s face when she sees your piece!!
You are so creative and talented! Thank you for this and your other videos!
I thought it was absolutely wonderful
I wonder if this would work over a vinyl floor. Instead of the wax, I'll try putting clear coat over the top of it. I love the way the finished product turned out...just like a real terrazzo floor! It never occurred to me to crumble up dried chalk paint until I saw you do it. Thanks for the inspiration I needed to finish my fugly bathroom floor!
Did you try it?
Love this! Thank you so much for sharing. New to your channel and just love your creativity.
I love that....you've inspired me to give it a go!!!! Thank You
Fabulous idea.
You’re a clever cookie ...
So cool and very clever…thank you❤️
What a fantastic technique! I have a small table I’m going to start on and this idea is perfect for it. Thank you again.
Please let me know how your outcome is
What a great idea!!!
I can't believe how much the colours popped out with the wax! I love the colour combination and I can see how putting the paint chips on the edge works beautifully. There are endless combinations to explore. Thank you so much for explaining how the mat works, I wasn't aware of the importance of it. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much I’m really pleased that you enjoyed watching ❤️🙏
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove What a fun idea: it could be done is all Holiday colours and the top could be switched out for each one! I actually know some people who would buy that concept. LOL
I enjoyed your tutorial - this project is so clever! As you were waxing the tabletop and those colors started popping, it put a smile on my face. 😊
Thank you so much sometimes there is a little bit of magic in the process and that was the best bit seeing the colours
I really really really love how they turned out! I have different terrazzo floors in different color combinations. Some are made with warm neutrals, some with cold neutrals and black or blues, some with brown and earthy red. How fun it would be trying mixing and matching! Thanks Jonathon, you’re a infinite source of inspiration. Have a great day!
This is brilliant!!
I love it! I have a small table that I blew through the veneer on. I have been trying to decide what to do with it, I do believe that I will try this!
Thank you!
So so cool how innovative I love it. I don't have any chalk paint but i may just experiment and see if I can use this technique
I'm in Florida and so would love a Toronto floor but this technique is amazing amazing Bravo
Thank you so much I think it could have a few different uses especially on the right piece of furniture 😊❤️🙏
Loved this look, and now thinking I am going to do this on a mirrored dresser for my niece as she loves rainbow colours and this concept will be just right for her. Looks like I need to visit my stockers for the mat!!
You surprise me every time with what you can do with chalk paint.
Thank you ❤️
That’s great and I think you’re not look back with your purchase of the Matt are use my fart a lot for mixing colours it’s great 😊😊
Wow Jonathon what a brilliant look.
And lilly set off the finished product so perfectly.
I love watching your tutorials and the way you explain every step in a way that is easy to understand .
This certainly something to try out at some point I am wanting to paint some bits for my summer house and wonder if maybe this would work also wonder if adding some glitter in aswell would work .
Thsnks for sharing xx
This was quite unexpected! Wow,the end results were fantastic! Your mind works overtime on different ways to use chalk paint. Thank you for sharing 😍
Hi Jonathan, I missed your tutorial from beginning. I just loose track of time. But I watched the after, and I am in awe. It looks like confetti, so beautiful. You're always full of great ideas, like a magician everything comes out fabulous. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all. Loved it! Until the next tutorial, stay safe. Blessings from California 🥰
Thank you so so very much and I’m sending you all my very best 😊😊
So awesome!! I will definitely try this new technique…what do you think about using some pastels with tiny bits of black?
Yes absolutely I’m sure that’s gonna look amazing I’m going to try sample board using some soft colours maybe all of the pinks and a little bit of Honfleur 😊😊
#replay had been looking forward to seeing this! Love this look! I heard you asking for ideas in your last video and was thinking it would be really helpful to see your take on a simple yet authentic looking faux wood finish on a top that perhaps isn’t real wood or has had to be filled quite a bit and painted over. I’ve got a few beautiful MCM and Chinoiserie style pieces but they’ve got laminate tops and I’d much rather try to create the look of a wood top rather than just paint the laminate, but I’ve not seen many techniques that look very authentic for me and so I haven’t tried it! Maybe it’s not something you would be into trying… but if so, I’d be ever so grateful!
I think this is a wonderful idea I think there’s probably two or three different ways of doing it it would be quite fun leave it with me I’m sure I will definitely cover this off 😊❤️🙏
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove I can’t wait to see your method on this!!!! Thank you so much! I know it’s not very exciting for some but I have some really beautiful vintage pieces that other people overlook because they have laminate tops and I am just so excited to see your way of doing this! I used your marble technique on one of them and it was PERFECT for the piece!!!!
Hi Jonathan . This was very cool ! What would be the best way to seal it in a kitchen or bathroom? I’d like to try it with gold/copper but never seen them in chalk paint so wondering what you would suggest? Great live!
Kitchen or bathroom I would go with a epoxy resin to encapsulates everything
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove thank you
Hi Jonathon…, such a creative technique. Looks great. I’m wondering in lieu of wax if you used a satin finish clear top from GF how that would look. I’m hoping to remake this on a small table. Thanks!
Yes one of those topcoat Would be wonderful especially if you go for a high Sheen could look quite amazing
👍👍😎
this is amazing! can't wait to try it!!!!! one question though, would you recommend to use lacquer (glossy) instead of wax to make it look more authentic?
Great question and yes if you want to go for a more shiny look or of course you could polish your wax for a higher sheen please let me know how you get on Mr 😊😊
Hello Jonathon!
i have said it before but you are a genius. i have a couple of pieces i did not know what to do. just finished my farmhouse kitchen table and chairs. really love this because it is so different. i cannot wait. i will be starting this tomorrow. i can't thank you enough for your inspiration !!!! and i love your cat, so sweet.
Thank you so much and I’m so pleased it’s gonna give it a go I’d like to see pictures of your overall results 😊❤️🙏
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove absolutely, but it can't be as good as yours. i literally finished the waxing of the chairs and was just stuck at this flat side table. i am over the moon to try this !!! I will post the pic, fingers crossed.
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove i put 5 different colors of annie sloan paint on my mix mat but trying to be patient because i think one is still not dry enough. can't wait to do it, hopefully tomorrow and i will send you a pic. i am so glad you came up with this idea as i was looking for inspiration for a bedside table.
@@cathyking8013 i’m so excited for seeing people using this technique I think it’s one of those that Will most definitely evolve with time many people have already mentioned about topcoat may be using something shiny which I’m sure would be amazing with this look as well 😊😊😊
@@JonathonMarcMendesPaintedLove i still love looking at your table. and shiny may be amazing too. i am growing impatient with my chalk paint. seems that 3 of the 5 colors are much more dry. so going to wait until tomorrow as i can't wait to get started. and this will be on a side table my husband made years ago and was my very first chalk paint piece. i will take a before and after so you can see them. thank you for being such an inspiration.
Could I use a silicone sheet that we use for cooking..would it work to lay the different color of sparkle.thanks
I absolutely think this probably will work with silicone baking sheets very similar
As always, I admire and learn from your techniques. In this case, I dislike the end result. That is mostly because the look of terrazzo holds two unappealing associations for me. The multi-color flakes remind me of textured garage floor paint. And in my childhood there was a particular Christmas candy, opaque white with multi-color flakes. It had a peculiar flavor so it was always the last type of candy we left in the bowl until we got desperate enough for the sugar fix. I do appreciate the variety of your efforts. These are an education even when there is the occasional something that I do not wish to try.
💌💌💌
OMG this is so exciting a look! I have done something similar-ish myself but not nearly as interesting as this! I can't wait to find out how you did this! Thank you Jonathan!
you could have used a piece of seran wrap to mash the pieces down right where you dropped them.
Terrazzo, a higher end process that was used throughout the older Buildings of a Hospital where, in my early career, I was Margeting Manager. That Hospital was in Memohis, TN, and was the benefactor of the land fir Danny Thomas to build the reniened "St Jude's Children's Hospital", managed by ALSAC.
The hospital, St Joseph Hospital, I worked for closed due to the aging sisters and their over hundred years of tireless and generous gifting of care to Memphis and the Midsiurh region, all the way back ti the Yellow Fever Epidemic.
It saddened me to see them close, while Baptist Memorial, the Worlds largest Hospital, is located in the area, and (to my knowledge, has never given 1 patient free care). But I wont say more about that and their status as a "charity/non profit institution".
Terrazzo is a delightful option to add sparks of color without risk in a commercial or residential setting.
Perfection as always!!!
