Jonathon... In a most caring way, may I suggest that you never again need to make any lengthy apology or explanation for using old furniture. You are saving these items! You are part of a long history of of Furniture Painters and part of a tradition that is worldwide. Embellishing our lives with pattern and colour has been almost deleted from interior decoration in favour of blandness. I am in my 72nd year now and it was probably over thirty years ago that I started painting patterns, etc on furniture and walls! Long may you shine your bright light in the world! 🙏🏼
I think your work is wonderful. I used to teach watercolor. One student broke me. I stopped painting for about 20 years. I found people that can be cruel are the ones who aren't very good themselves and they try to take others down. You have inspired me to paint again. Watch out , I'm painting everything in sight. You are great, love you, keep up the good work, I will too. I love to watch you. Glad I found you. .
Oh my goodness it’s comments like yours that make everything so worthwhile I am so pleased I have inspired for you to pick up your brushes once again I am one happy painter😊😊😊😊 please send me some pictures of your work once you’ve done something you’re happy with it love to see how you’re getting on xx
Andersonville, Tennessee here! The way I feel about refinishing furniture is you have to create something that people can use. I have several antique pieces that I have held off on painting, but really the finish has disintegrated so badly over time that there is no other option than to repair what I can and paint. At least that way they can displayed and used in someone's home. I think we restore some of the better pieces that we can to as original as they can get, but that is not always an option. There are times when you come across a piece that you can salvage by no other means than to paint. I believe in doing whatever it takes to remove a piece from the attic and make it presentable enough to become a part of a warm, loving home. Therefore, I never judge. I admire the hard work that goes into saving a piece from the landfill, and it is a true labor of love. So therefore, I just sit back and enjoy the creation of a new masterpiece!
My goodness, Jonathon, you put so much thought and love into all of your art; maybe you should consider putting your initials on them in a discrete location. This piece is amazing, you've given her an entirely fresh and unique look. I love everything about her, especially how the butterflies compliment the flowers. Much Love from Upstate New York.
I think the furniture gods will give you a "well done" on this one. I confess I cringed when you said you were painting it because I had a vision of ghastly white. Love the depth the black gives it.
Hello from very sunny Florida! I’ve recently become involved in “slow fashion”, which is a way of reducing consumption by shopping thrift and consignment shops as well as, and most importantly, working with more of what is in our own closets. So if we’re encouraged to do this with our clothing, why not furniture as well? You have given this piece a whole new “look” and have extended it’s life and your enjoyment of it tenfold. I’ve been watching your channel for several months now, and am always impressed not only by your very obvious talent, but by your care and respect of the furniture you work with. Keep on keeping on, Jonathon. The fact that you are an inspiration to so many, more than overshadows any “nay sayers”.
Oh thank you so so much this means the world to me sometimes you wonder whether you’re doing the right thing I suppose there’s so many critics out there that have different opinions but I think this is the right way forward saving things rather than seeing them go ❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
this is fabulous. I watched it this morning very early to get some inpiration. So I rushed to the garage this morning to look at the old cupboard which needs to be renovated and after ten minutes went back to the house with a desparate feeling of mix of fear, no confidence, ,what colours and the problem is of course to have the finished project sort of stable in your mind. So what looks so simple and beautiful and harmonious is just not so easy to accomplish. This happens to me everytime I watch a JMM video
I love black painted furniture and loved this piece. I thought some of the flowers would have looked beautiful on the top also but that would have been a lot of extra work. It's great the way you lined the drawers. Love love love it❤.
Loved this video 👏❤You have certainly been a champion of Annie Sloan products and I only wish I was able to visit the New Orleans event which should be Fantastic 😊🍾🎊🎉
I love what you did with this desk. It is absolutely gorgeous! I have a desk in my entryway that I would love to try this with. Thank you for sharing your skills with us.
Hi! Just when I thought you've shown us you can do, then you come up with another video. Excellent Tutorial! Presented nicely, very informative. You are a great teacher, easy to follow and very knowledgeable. Lots of love from California 💕.
Jonathon, you have truly inspired me to go down the road of creating furniture art. Thank you. I will continue to go through your videos - continue to learn - collect supplies - then plunge in! Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents.
As always, I was looking forward to another episode of Paintedlove. And it was so inspring!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! Love the coloured flowers on the black paint!
Another great tutorial! I tend to like to watch tutorials on my television for the big screen,BUT does RUclips count that as a "view" for you? I can watch on my phone if that gives you credit for a view. Thanks!
I think it works both ways when I do premiere I always watch on my big screen I prefer it rather than on a phone so keep on doing what you’re doing and thank you very much for watching 😃😀😀
Looks very lovely Jonathon!! I love this technique and you’re right…it does have a very contemporary feel to it! You are very inspirational…looking forward to getting creative on some pieces I’ve had forever😅👏🏻💃🏼🫶🏻😻
Beautiful, as always! I don’t know, but I think the iron on method would have been easier getting that paper inside the drawer! Then again, it may have been hard to get into the corners with an iron. Regardless you got it done and it looks fabulous! 🥰 Thank you for sharing another tutorial.
Stunning transformation Jonathan - you've such a good eye when it comes to choosing what to do and how to approach a project. Really loving the results on this one.
Hi Jonathon - Could you do the top 4" or so of the decoupage paper so it's perfectly aligned and then finish up the rest? Thinking how a newbie like me could do this without messing up. Thanks.
Just started following you, and I really love your work. Your attention to every detail and your teaching style. I will rewatch all of your tutorials and I’m sure will learn a lot from you! This table is gorgeous!
I admit to being one who makes the horrified face at painted furniture. Mainly because some of the pieces YOU can get ahold of in the UK from 'the bin' are simply more gorgeous (to me) than anything I can get in the US. But it's all about the perspective. This old table, however, I can completely understand WHY you would want/need to paint it. Sometimes, there's just no salvaging the finish.
It all depends on lots of variables like what I paid for in the first place with this one I actually owned it for a long time and I would probably charge more for the time that I’ve spent on it but I’ve got to be honest I think I may we will keep this one 🥴
That is beyond elegant and sophisticated! You never cease to amaize. That combination is flawless.
*Nailed it!*
... and it's my taste.
I love the way you have a relationship with inanimate objects.

I agree
Jonathan, thank you for all the love you show. You are a ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy world. Bless you!
I will never tire of you saying risk it for a biscuit
The butterfly paper in the background is really beautiful.
Good taste! 😍

Yes I couldn’t agree more it’s better to have the peace loved and in use then sat there decaying or even worse in landfill 😊❤️🙏

Yeah I agree if I did just go on on the flat surface on the top I think the iron on would’ve been great
Stunning transformation Jonathan - you've such a good eye when it comes to choosing what to do and how to approach a project. Really loving the results on this one.
I love your tutorials. I would like to know if you have a link to the paper you used inside the drawers
