- An unbelievable track from one of death metal's finest. Playing along to DS songs and feeling out the tempo shifts feels like riding (and sometimes conquering) a bull. I feel truly blessed to be alive the same time this band is.
It's rare to find songwriting as thoughtful, adventurous and viciously aggressive as this, on top of being executed with the ferocity of an old school death metal band. Truly masters of their craft.
I tried my best to channel a guitar tone that is true to the material; would love to get any feedback on how people feel about it.

Look at his muscles. You can tell that he practised a lot on the guitar.
The breakdown in this song toward the end is like the heaviest thing I've ever heard to this day. It sounds like taking the hugest shit you've ever taken in your life

I had to shove some mids in the tone in order to make my track stand out 😅 blended a little too well with the full on scoop of the mids

masterful. sick tone. cool to hear the note articulation slightly clearer than the album. psalms is still undefeated best brutal dm album. likely nothing will ever be better than psalms. agonal hymns came close though. dude, you absolutely killed this.

Psalms is like an unspoken, rarely-seen sewer monster whose creation speaks of horrifying ancient wisdom. Chapters is a ripped warlock of a colossal beast that only leaves devastation in his wake.

There is some really amazing effort. Play a song like this is to deal with very uneasy time signatures, and you ruled it! Dude, you could enter in Defeated Sanity's line up with no problem 😅

@@noobsauce I mean, all the fuckery after 2:00 (mostly because of how loud the blasts are on the record) and at 3:11 I thought it was three trichords at the beginning. Thanks for clarifying those w your cover, I still can't get over the writing on this album.

😅 Def snuck some mids in there, otherwise my tone blended with theirs too well and I couldn't pick apart my playing.
This Rich feels really good now, but it took a bit to get adjusted to the drastic differences from my previous guitars.
Dude, that was SICK! Awesome playing and sweet guitar, tones were wonderful! I love that band so much, I catch them every time I can when they roll through my neck of the woods.

Thanks Cody! I wholeheartedly agree with Jeff, it's important to stick with it. I was not able to tackle this song years ago when I attempted to learn it. The progress will come as long as you keep at it
Holy cow, what an absolutely jaw-dropping performance! I've never checked out Defeated Sanity since I'm not usually into brutal death but I'm going to change that. Also, I found it really weird to see you play a pointy six string.

It was an impulse buy earlier in February. I always wanted an x shape axe and pulled the trigger as soon as I saw BC Rich was putting out their new legacy line. Took me a bit to get used to the smaller scale length, neck shape and weight distribution, but I love it now.

But also, these songs are incredibly well thought out, so it makes it easy to spot the intentions, evolution of themes, etc. The hardest part is def the execution, especially staying locked in with all the jarring but nimble tempo changes.

I recorded this in Cubase using Neural DSP's Archetype Gojira amp modeler. It's really really awesome and extremely versatile, despite all the high gain modeling being based on Peavey heads (5150 III channel 2, and a 5150 lead channel).
