Most modern metal is not really metal but techno with distorted guitars. Not much else to it. I hate when they use effects on the voice and do the super slow breakdowns that just make no sense in the context of the song. Real metal doesn’t need all that poser shit.
I only got "My Curse" by Killswitch Engage, "The Game" by Disturbed and "Obscure" by Dir En Grey. I also recognized the Meshuggah and System Of A Down ones but didn't know the songs
I was so happy when Cradle of Filth came on because I fail when it comes to Metalcore but Her Ghost In The Fog is in my Top 10 favorite songs of all time love that song
it's classic Cradle at their A-game, agree with that statement. Doug "Pinhead" Bradley voicing the Woodsman makes that Music Video so epic, it needs a remaster being at 240p in 2023, it's a crime.
I've been getting out of my music rut and getting into heavier music over the past year or 2 (Metalcore being my limit, I don't care for Deathcore vocals, but the instrumentals can go hard) and these videos are a great way to find new bands. I'm a normy, I only knew the KSE, SoaD and Disturbed, so I doubt I woulda stumped ya with anything of my (current) list, I'd pick something like Breaking the Mirror by Fit for a King or The Air That I Breath by All that Remains (first 2 songs on my Metal Inspiration playlist)
@@Skater901 Funny story, I played KF (with my Dad for waaay too many hours since 1) and loved the soundtrack. I thought when found Breaking the Mirror it was the first time I heard of the band, but when I sat done to listen to their older stuff Bitter End came on and I was like "why do I know this song note for note but this is the first time I've clicked on this album by this band" then released it was from KF. I do also like Demon Hunter from KF2 but their vocal style can be hit or miss on some songs when they change it up. IIRC That song was what helped start me on my Metal journey to get into heavier music, at least I found it around that time, it definently start my Metal Inspiration playlist. Soup's band Slackjaw also was a stepping stone.
I think i would've only been able to get 5 of these right, max. Blessed Be, Trust Fall (the first Spiritbox song I've ever heard), Obscure, My Curse and Take This Life. Was thoroughly surprised to see Dir En Grey here though.
The minute I saw all the ÄÄÄÄÄs, I guessed correctly that it's Oranssi Pazuzu. The song title has to be in Finnish to be that long and have that many ÄÄÄÄÄs in it, and Oranssi Pazuzu is the only band I know whose music is in Finnish but that is more well known outside Finland than in here. Song title translates to "Dream Spider".
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M Oh, true, Ajattara is pretty well known outside Finland as well... Doesn't Nightwish have, like, one song in Finnish and the rest in English... Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan is the only NW song I know that's in Finnish... Ps. Can't even begin to tell you how many bands I know that song would not have been :D Being Finn and all. And also, cause Swedes use Ä's too, and I think 1-5 other countries do as well...
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M I think that's a big reason, yes. Finland is a small country, if your music is very niche you'd probably prefer an international audience. Or if your genre of choice is more well known outside Finland, like certain subgenres of metal. And others choose to make their songs in Finnish because they know that'll reach a Finnish audience better. Pretty much everyone here speaks English as a second language, though. We start studying it at school on 3rd grade and continue until the last (9th) grade. Sure, if you barely passed English back then and haven't used it since, you probably don't remember much of it, but anyway. Because of this, I haven't really given it much thought before what kinda bands and artists prefer which language.
"I can sing the song from start to finish but don't know the name". I don't know if anything more relatable has ever been said.
that's called choking and it can happen when under pressure.
Doesnt have to, in my Playlist I can sing along to pretty much every song but know only half the names.@@UltimateGamerCC
This^
What is the name of the song he’s talking about btw?
Blessed be - Spiritbox
We need more of these! It was extremely fun metal things

@@lucyferinawhere the fuck did this come from
you nailed the pronounciation with "Unihämähäkki"
People trying to speak Finnish sounds like that in general.
dude, I was so hyped when Close Your Eyes came on and it was literally the last song lol. Glad someone remembers this band!
Velvets is still on my heavy rotation man. Such a banger
Same lol I just forgot the name of the song at the moment, but the band is remarkable
I love Close Your Eyes!
I flipped out as soon as I heard it!!! It's been nearly a decade since I heard that banger
Saw them at Blu Ridge Rock Fest last year and it was everything I could’ve hoped for
I sucked at this but I enjoyed watching and playing on stream 😂
Honestly some of the videos are great for finding new songs and bands 😂
I only got "My Curse" by Killswitch Engage, "The Game" by Disturbed and "Obscure" by Dir En Grey. I also recognized the Meshuggah and System Of A Down ones but didn't know the songs
Glad to see Make Them Suffer, by far my favourite band, seeing them on Friday.
Update: they were great, pit was peak
I was so happy when Cradle of Filth came on because I fail when it comes to Metalcore but Her Ghost In The Fog is in my Top 10 favorite songs of all time love that song

Great song! 🤟
"The Good. The Gone. THE GAME."

Strapping Young Lad are the GOATS
Oranssi Pazuzu popping up made me so happy 😊😊😊😊
As a metal head of about 30 years, I always forget the names of songs lol.
Sheesh, Close Your Eyes was such a blast from the past! I was immediately hit by nostalgia train even before remembering what the song/band was.
This was entertaining to watch 😂
respect to whoever picked DIR EN GREY! one of the best metal bands in the world
Nik doesn't jam to Close Your Eyes? :( Valleys, Digging Graves, Something Needs to Change are BANGERS
Song for the Broken and Wolves are pretty good bangers too imo
So surprised and happy to see Dir en Grey showing up. That album Vulgar has so many bangers!
Valleys by Close Your Eyes - and that entire album, are so good dude. Its literally part of my soul 🔥🖤
Dir En Grey was definitely one of the last songs I expected to see but fuck they rule. Big shout out to whoever picked them for this
Good to see Dir En Grey getting a spot in this game.
This was helpful to find new jams for the workout list.
You should check out some more Dir en Grey. Amazing band with a great evolution
This was so fun to watch, please make more of this series, Nik!!

Dude the only Fit For A King song I know is Bitter End because it was in Killing Floor 2 but that song is GOOD.

Oranssi Pazuzu fucks HARD.
Hell, I'd consider Muukalainen Puhuu & Värähtelijä two of the most enjoyable Black Metal albums ever made.
I'm so happy Intervals showed up. Knew it immediately.
Same here. Laughed so hard at everyone saying Polyphia though
Yeah I was surprised when I heard it never expected it to be on here
And that was the harrowing story of how Nik fired his mods to save $400.
The end.
OMG the Close Your Eyes nostalgia is what I needed!!
SYL in the thumbnail! SYL in the thumbnail! SYL in the thumbnail! SYL in the thumbnail!
It was good to see Grand Cadaver on here! It's Mikael Stanne's new band. He's the vocalist of Dark Tranquillity
Dir En Grey is here what the hell 🤘🤘🤘🤘
im high as shit and that zoom out at the start fucked me so hard
0:18 game lobby nik game lobby
I would’ve recognized obscure immediately
Great content Nik
Anyone know the name of the website they're using for that? Looks so cool to play!
Shout out to Dir en Grey and SYL
I was really hoping someone would pick, “Papyrus containing the spell to preserve its possessor against attacks from he who is in the water” lol
All I knew was dir en grey and currents. I’m too much of a death core fan to know all the metalcore
And I'm too much into traditional metal to know any core stuff besides grindcore.
System of a down is like i dont know the songnames but can sing every song along xD
hope to do this again with you guys, was so much fun!
So happy to see Strapping Young Lad. Get refreshed on that! do yourself a favor!
I was so stoked when Intervals came in! Love that band.
I have an idea for a game. You have to guess the song by the riff only. But the tricky part is it is played in reverse.
Bro didnt get Strapping Young Lad Shitstorm im furious
Super cool to see my band in this video😭 thank you lol
Do "How to SYL in 30 seconds" or Devin Townsend 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Not getting strapping young lad was kinda disappointing lol
One of the reactions I waited the most. I also think October Ends new song is mindlowing! React to it, you won't be disappointed 🔥
Welcome to GUESS! THAT! BANGER!
I was not expecting close your eyes valleys I use to love them when I was a good little Christian boy 😂
I think i would've only been able to get 5 of these right, max. Blessed Be, Trust Fall (the first Spiritbox song I've ever heard), Obscure, My Curse and Take This Life. Was thoroughly surprised to see Dir En Grey here though.
More of this please
This seems awesome
Format looks fun but please give us some more time to listen and read the clues here on RUclips. Would be a lot better if we could kind of play along
I think the problem with that is RUclips copyright
I can't believe Close Your Eyes was the final nail in your coffin, such an underrated band.
The best
My eyes widened as soon as I heard it lol
Ayo the is the earliest I’ve been to one of your vids
BRO THE FIRST COMMENT I EVER GOT THAT WAS A HEART FROM NIK 😭 BRO THANK YOU 🙏
Glad Dir En Grey showed up, they rip. Dozing Green is my anthem
I like how someone said Silverstein when spirit box came up
What a fun metal thing you did here!
8:42 Close Your Eyes
Nik is Brazilian now
KSE and Disturbed back to back was awesome.
Trust Fall is one of Spiritbox's best songs, whoever submitted it knows
i love no way out by not enough space
withered by currents is so slept on
2:42 anyone else think this was Loathe - Loathe
Deserved for not knowing Oranssi Pazuzu
Dude, I haven't heard Obscure in forever. Time to go listen to some more Dir En Grey now.

What’s the page?
My metal tastes are so different lol
I had no clue what the last song was 😂😂!! I pissed myself laughing at the end of the video
Didnt see full songlist, but would've put in "I Set My Friends On Fire - Crank That"

@nic nocturnal you need to made a metal remix of the jardiance add it would be amazing
It's funny when you have your own fair knowledge of metal music and then challenges like this come and HUMILIATE the f out of you
