Definitely gives off some J-Metal vibes. Lots of great stuff coming out of Japan in the last decade. Jiluka, Unlucky Morpheus, lynch, NoGod, and Devil Within come to mind.
Bro forgot the metallica of j metal. Crazy how babymetal actually started within the past decade
I didn't forget about Babymetal, I just typically look past them as they've reached a huge mainstream audience. Similarly, I didn't list some of my other favorite Japanese bands like X Japan, One OK Rock, Band Maid, My First Story, Girugamesh, ACME, Man With a Mission, Jupiter, Animetal, and L'arc en Ciel because while I love their work, it also isn't as hardcore as the ones I previously mentioned. They're all a bit more modern rock than hardcore.

Saw Crystal Lake last night with Brand of Sacrifice, Spite and August Burns Red, and I'll be honest, as much as a Ryo fanboy I am, CL completely stole the show last night, the new singer is a monster live, super energetic guy
That’s refreshing to hear bc im getting tickets to this show as well and have seen Crystal Lake 4 times prior to Ryo’s departure and they were always insane. So I’m glad someone has seen them with the new vocalist and had a good time!
same, saw them in london and it was absolutely mental. the new guy is amazing in his own way and the rest of the band are absolutely crazy live too
That gives me hope for CL. I was afraid he couldn't do Ryo vocals.
Saw these guys live a week ago when they opened for stray from the path and the energy they had was honestly awesome and really got the crowd warmed up. Fair play to Ryo for doing something different and pushing the boundaries.

IMO Ryo has always deserved more recognition for his vocals. They're insanity.
I think this the fourth time Nik’s said most insane track, the others are Deep in the Willow/Everything is quiet now by Knocked Loose, Viking by Slaughter to Prevail and Venom by Jiluka

I have seen them live on their current europe tour together with stray from the path. They put on such a great show. First band of the evening and they had the room bounce all over the place.

Seeing how we get this kinda style from a lot of Japanese metalcore bands like paledusk, jiluka and knosis can we agree to call it japancore?
I'm not 100% sure about it but I think Maximum The Hormone Or Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas started it. If we abbreviate the name to J core, it sounds lit.

I wish Doujin Metal Bands also has an attention while talking about J-Metal. There is a lot of great Doujin Metal bands like Imperial Circus Dead Decadence, Holmgang ov Gensokyo, Kissing the Mirror, Thousand Leaves, BLANKFIELD, Unlucky Morpheus, Takamachi Walk and etc.
Saw them last week in Madrid supporting stray from the path. Knosis is absolutely insane! Ryo is one of the best front men I've seen so much energy.

so fun fact, im an idiot. the first metal i ever saw live was crystal lake supporting Bury tomorrow. I had never heard of them at the time. i just saw stray from the path and Knosis supported them... didnt know it was the same geezer until now.

I loved this one by Knosis because at first it sounds like a punch in the face, then Ryo caresses the wound, then punches us in the ribs, then gives us a soft kiss on our waist and ends by slowly cutting all of our skin 🥰🥰

@@Djent_Lover yeah there's just something that he does with his mixes that sounds so fn massive and punchy his use of distortion is amazing a lot of producers and Engineers shy away from distortion and Saturation and he makes it work so fn well
I use some of his tricks with the Fabfilter saturn when I mix my vocal covers and other people's music and I've been using it since I saw him use it

Knosis are sick, but live it can be a bit confusing to watch, saw them with stray and I must say the crow was like wtf is going on, met the main man though, very nice guy!

yo Nik, not sure if you have, but have you checked out Omerta? They are kinda numetal metalcore kinda stuff, very similar similar to this. I see a lot of comparisons of them to like early Slipknot and stuff as well.
Them and Darko give me hope for experimenting metal.
