  • Introduction 🎬
Welcome to another gripping video of The Obi One Podcast 🎧, where John Obi Mikel and Chris McHardy tackle one of the most talked-about issues at Manchester United-the controversy surrounding Jadon Sancho and Manager Erik Ten Hag 🔥⚽.
The Heart of the Matter ❤️⚽
In a shocking twist for Manchester United fans 😲, Erik Ten Hag opted to leave Jadon Sancho out of a recent matchday squad. When questioned by the media 🎙️, Ten Hag asserted that Sancho was not meeting the professional standards expected of a Manchester United player 😳, citing poor training as the reason for his absence 🏋️‍♂️. Sancho fired back through a statement , accusing Ten Hag of making him a scapegoat for the team's underperformance and outright denying the claims about his training habits. This public exchange has led to Sancho being sidelined indefinitely from the first team.
    Managerial Criticism: A Public No-No? 🚫🎤
Chris McHardy and John Obi Mikel debate the appropriateness of public managerial criticism 🤔, diving into a controversial discussion point: Should a manager ever publicly criticize a player ❓ While managers hold a certain level of authority, John argues that taking such issues to the media can have a detrimental effect on the player and the team's morale.
A Historical Perspective: Sir Alex Ferguson 📜🕰️
Contrasting current events with the tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson, Mikel elaborates on how the legendary manager would handle similar situations 🤐. According to Mikel, Sir Alex would have dealt with the matter privately, in the dressing room, far away from the prying eyes of the media 🚪🤫. This not only protected the player but also fortified the team’s unity.
The Captaincy Dilemma: Maguire or Fernandes? 🤷‍♂️🔴
Adding another layer to the ongoing complexities at Manchester United, John Obi Mikel turns the conversation towards the recent change in team captaincy from Harry Maguire to Bruno Fernandes. In Mikel's opinion, while it may be justifiable to switch the on-pitch captain due to Maguire's absence, changing the club captain altogether sends the wrong message to the team and the fans 🗣️. He stresses that the title of club captain should hold significant weight and not be altered hastily, as it can further disrupt team chemistry.
Scapegoating Sancho: Right or Wrong? 👀🤷‍♂️
John Obi Mikel doesn't shy away from taking a stand, expressing that he feels Jadon Sancho has indeed been made a scapegoat by Ten Hag for Manchester United's recent poor form. In his opinion, this is not just unfair to Sancho but also harmful to the team's dynamics.
    Sancho’s Future: What Next? 🤔🔮
Both McHardy and Mikel explore what this means for Sancho's future at Manchester United 🛫🔴. They discuss the options available to the player, emphasizing the critical need for resolving this issue before it takes a toll on his career. According to John, if an apology and a resolution are not reached soon, Sancho should start exploring opportunities elsewhere.

I believe conversations has taken place repeatedly over lateness and not giving much in training of which sancho has not adjusted which was also affecting his performance,he even had to allowed him go to Holland recommended a trainer main while ten hag did not publicly spoke about it at first but accommodated him those periods even after he came back
You must understand ther are other wingers push for starting shirt in the team of which sancho without doing enough is preferred over them because he came into the club with huge fee and for goodness sake he is on 350. The major reason why the issue came out is because sancho want that pattern to continue he's personality over his performance of which did not agree.
You can't have captain on the bench week in week out harry was captain in ten hag first season, because is recovering is poor he needed defenders with speed that's the reason he's a regular harry is a good player
We heard of Beckham, roy, vanstroy, stam, etc with Ferguson for me ten hag has not done badly it's only lazy players in the team will be against ten hag this will not divide the team

What did he say? He said Sancho didn't train well and wasn't selected for 'this' game, one game. He didn't say he'd never be selected again.
Most of you are forgetting that this same manager has tried everything to make Sancho perform, even gave him time off from football for a couple months in the middle of the season to clear his head, even sent him a private coach for him to work with while he was away. Partially disagree with Obi. Fergie criticised becks in public. His hair, his wife, and so on. However the difference between Sancho and Becks with the way they responded was that the former was busy pushing a stupid narrative whilst the latter did the talking on the pitch. Becks was not Fergie's model player but he was undroppable because of what he did on the pitch and not on social media. Never rated Sancho even in his time at dortmund and am really not surprised how things have turned out for him. He had publicised disciplinary qualms in Gernany and for some reason, ManU management felt he was going to be a good fit for the club. Typical

Sancho's attitude and performance ain't good. No doubt about that
But there are internal issues that are meant to be dealt with internally. Just like the Managing Director of a firm coming to address issues of his firm and then starts to highlight a specific employee's performance. That's absolutely wrong. It is not Management at all. It is reckless and any reckless aftermath has to be totally accepted by him.
The player in question didn't go to the media to speak about this, the manager started it. If he feels the player lied about what he said to the media, fine. He can stop fielding him but expecting apologies? That's pure double standard and childish

Mikel would have a limited view of the Jadon issue because he played almost all his club football in a club that had money and player power culture although they were winning stuff!Obi also was in a dressing room with gifted professionals who had standards and I can assure you Jadon would not have survived at Chelsea with Jose or the other managers after him!
Obi did not get his football apprenticeship in Europe at a big clubs academy earning good money and then move to another big club in Germany where he was given time to improve also on big wages and then move to one of the biggest clubs in Man Utd on 350K !These are different individuals from Obi who had to rely on national team call ups and performances to achieve football trials in Europe before Lyn Oslo and eventually Chelsea came calling!
Obi comes from a harsher reality in Nigeria and has to be more mature and sensible than kids born into these opportunities!
Besides, people like Siasia,Kanu,Okocha etc would give advice about the chances you get and must not misuse!
Jadon can be sold by United and will still end up at big clubs and have a relatively successful career!Foreign players coming from Africa,Eastern Europe or South America ,remember where they have climbed up from and know they will not get a second chance at elite football!
For every success like Mikel there are hundreds of talented, skillful players that failed at football in Nigeria, compare that to Eurooe ,Africa and Latin America!
It is a sport or career where direction, guidance and opprtunities play a major role !
