I recommend the song Wasting my Hate as the next Metallica reaction off of the load album, my favorite song off of that album!

I say Metallica just reached Rolling Stones longevity. As elderly or older performers they just reached and we got a lot more years. The will age even more but will still be bringing it live, like they've done since day one. They'll be putting out albums and least two more. Metallica keeps them alive. They ain't going nowhere. They are a force stronger than sports teams.

I remember disliking this song in '91 when I first heard it. As I've gotten older, I can honestly say that it's one of the songs I prefer from the black album along with Sad But True and Unforgiven. I cut my teeth on the first four Metallica albums and kept waiting for songs on the black album to hit that higher, faster gear that never came. It was definitely different, but the songs that really tried something new are the ones that stuck with me from that album all these years later--especially LIVE!

Did you like the harder songs when you were younger and now like the more deeper songs?

@@ReactionGenX The entire Bob Rock Era has problems for me. I appreciate the experimentation, and there's plenty of hard songs, but to almost completely abandon the thrash speed and complexity was quite a change for many of us. On one hand, more people were listening to Metallica. On the other hand, our best-kept secret band of all time (virtually zero radio play for Metallica before the black album) was EVERYWHERE. I listened to the black album and admittedly loved it, but nowadays when I listen to Metallica, it's from the first four albums or the last three with a few exceptions like Nothing Else Matters, Unforgiven 1 and 2, etc.. The thrashy classics will never go out of style and absolutely rule when you see them live in concert. The newer stuff takes what they learned during the Bob Rock years and incorporates it into something truly special. Again, there are some great songs on Metallica, Load, and Reload, but few that I want to see and hear in concert compared to the original four. Load and Reload were probably meant to be one decent album originally, but instead we got two albums that each had a few good songs on them and some other okay songs on them. It was more quantity and less quality. Songs were shorter and simpler, but girls were actually starting to come to Metallica shows now (bonus!).
Nothing Else Matters is a great song. It has grown with me and has meant different things for me over the years. Definitely more emotional to me now than back then, though. It is one of THE songs that the general public still thinks of or has heard when you ask someone new if they have ever heard of Metallica until Stranger Things did their thing lol!
      Longest. Answer. Ever!

@@dmanimousprime3858 wow to say that the band found a new sound with every album would certainly be an understatement. I have to admit that so far my favorite era of the band is Justice. That being said I do like the load and reload stuff for what it is but it is a dramatic shift for sure.
