Before watching the video these are my thoughts for what legendaries would be the most possible entries for regional variants Mewmew being slightly adapted to a certain environment being an in-between of mew becoming different mon as the ancestor, Mewtwo being made slight differently/contaminated by accident of made from a mew in the in-between stage, The legendary beasts (ent,rai,sui) perhaps pokemon resurrected by a different legendary, eon duo (idk specific ls for this), deoxys being a different stand of virus coming to poke-earth, (i would include Regis but that would just be new regional mons and not varients), shaymin being a different flower, (darkrai and cresselia would probably become a trio/quartet with daydream/daymare mons), Genies being a different quartet guardian spirits of a different culture, swords of justice being a different weapon, genesect similar to mewtwo accidently contaminated or different type of weapon, victini being lose the battle but win the war version?, meloetta different genres of music, diancie different type of jewel, volcanion mist based?, UBs being transported to a different world and thriving after evolving to fit it better, (i don't think it would be a variant and don't think calyrex is based off the 4 horse men but a poison type horse for plague and a fighting type horse for war spectrier is easier as death but glacitrier could be famine?, different relics and koraidon and scarlet paradox mons evolving in a world full of water and rain (idk maybe groudon won in the original and kyogre won in the new one) and miraidon evolving in a world with more psychic energy (best I got that makes some sense to me) because two routes most scene in sci-fi stuff either extreme technology or worlds that humans evolved supernatural powers best I've got for bsing up plausible regional variants in about 10-30min idk
How about Kyogre variant for a Amazon region instead of a fish it can be more crocodile like replacing the fins with legs and getting a water/grass type and grassy terrain Ability. Groudon variant that is fire/steel type with levitate as a ability based on the minokawa from the Philippines (think rodan from Godzilla). Rayquaza that is based on jörmungandr the world serpents instead of a flying dragon it's now a water ice type with a ability that sets up snow(the new Hail) and Aurora veil.

for my Netherlands inspired region, i also have come up with a regional Mewtwo, a Psychic/Fairy type for the inspiration, i went with Mewtwo's lore & add something The Netherlands is known for the idea, is that back when Team Rocket made the first Mewtwo, they made a couple back-ups in case the first one fails but when the first escaped, so did the others & 1 of those, flew to the Nenal region, but got injured along the way but the people of Nenal are known to be very kind towards nature and Pokémon, so they took the injured Mewtwo & took care of it and when fully healed, let it back into the wild, but during the healing process, Mewtwo warmed up to the humans, causing it to be a friendly Mewtwo and due to its psychic energy, its body changed with its new personality, it thanked the humans and flew off, but stayed in the region
After the What if every legendary Pokémon had regional variants series, can you please do “What if Necrozma fused with other legendaries?” or “What if Kyurem fused with other legendaries?” next?
I just had a recommendation about the Necrozma topic a few hours ago lol! A RUclipsr who posted fanarts of Necrozma fusing with Legendaries as well as non legendaries.
I have to say that this Ho-Oh variant is just perfect. The concept is awesome and the design represent it so well that I just couldn’t resist putting this Pokémon in my team.
And even those ho-oh is based on Chinese phoenix which represents virtue, duty, ritual, compassion, and trust on various parts of its body and not Greek phoenix which represents immortality, resurrection and life after death that Moltres
For a Lugia variation I think one that is based off Shadow Lugia from Gale of Darkness would be a fun idea. It could be a water/dark or even pure dark type who's heart is completely closed off and has no form of compassion or goodness for humans since Shadow pokemon were made by closing their heart. Maybe it's signature move could be super effective against all types since in Gale of Darkness Shadow pokemon were super effective against non Shadow pokemon regardless of type.
The Ho-Oh variant is amazing, it makes it cooler that it's in Ecruteak City too. I would love a Johto Legends game with those variants for the legendaries
Ho-oh is gorgeous! I like that being ghost type, Ho-oh has adventage over original Lugia. And the same way, Lugia being water type it has adventage over the original Ho-oh.
Personally always believed that Lugia should have been a psychic water type. My reason is that it would give a deeper type of ying yang relationship between the two box legendaries simiar to the other legendaries like mew and Mewtwo being the first natural and man-made pokemon respectively. That been that Ho-oh could in a way represents a brigh and active spirit/mind due to been a light theme bird that's flying around the world doing something and Lugia the deeper, hidden and passive soul-subconscious that holds great amounts of power, like the actual subconscious, and is hidden/unseen in the dark beneath the oceans like the soul is hidden in the body.
I really like these regional variants. Only change I would make is make Lugia a water/dragon type, since it does draw inspiration from Ryujin the sea dragon god.
I love all these so much! Especially the Rising From the Ashes Ho-oh. I absolutely need varients for the rest of the Legendaries. And then maybe the mythicals?
A good ability for that ho-oh could be something like: "If the Pokemon would faint, it turns back into its egg having 50% of the pokemons base health and is instead reborn after 2 rounds" (something like a substitute with 50% of ho ohs health and if it doesnt get destroyed, the ho oh is reborn again once per battle, maybe even with a slight stat boost in speed and special attack, but idk if that would be too OP)
Probably would be too OP. I'd see it as an ability more like a mix of Palafin and Golisopod, where a move that would normally KO the Pokémon would instead send it to the back of the party and swap it out for another Pokémon. When you put Ho-Oh back onto the field, it's form will be changed (probably with the stat total being the same, but with different stat allocation) and its' HP restored a certain amount.
I like to see the Galarian Birds as the prototype for convergent evolution we encounter in gen9. Everything regarding them in the lore, in the conversations with Peony, in the dex allude them as "lookalike" of the Kantonian Birds, and the justification to make their names coincide with what they are is too far fetched to not be a coincidence. I don't think this will be ever retcon, but convergent evolution seems more fitting than a regional variant that would imply that they are pressured by their environment to change from their base form... For an as powerful entity as them, that's not really believable.
@@shinken6636 although that’s true, Pokémon’s only done two lines, so currently, I’d say there’s too little information to pull from to decide on rules. Also, it’s likely it doesn’t have to be a completely different animal. Yeah, the two ones we have are near opposites of the original, but I’m guessing future convergent Pokémon aren’t gonna be as drastic.
Some legendaries could still get regionals and make sense tho. Like Kubfu and Urshifu, Latios and Latias maybe, Lugia too if we go by anime lore, etc. These legendaries can have young (in lore) and these young when dropped into certain environments would definitely be pressured by it to change to better survive. I don't think a baby Latios or Kubfu would have enough power to just survive like it's nothing everywhere imo. But yeah I agree that for a lot of other Legendaries a convergent would make more sense. Just a lookalike. And even then some would not make sense. How would a lookalike of Groudon come to existence? A lot of legendaries are basically gods.
For the Hoenn Weather Trio, I would personally make Groudon more based on the Abominable Snowman (Ice/Ground), Kyogre more based on a lava whale (Fire/Water), and Rayquaza more based on a serpent made of rock (Rock/Dragon)
The Weather and Creation trio I don't see getting variants in official/canon due to their origin stories. Edit: Well, maybe Groudon and Kyogre as they have Past forms.

I hope you see this, HoopsandHipHop, but for rayquaza i would like his theming to be of one of the "Chinese dragons" from chinese mythology. He already fits that descirption very well, all he needs is some finishing touches.
Best I got for bsing something on the spot (even if don't rayquaza has possibility of getting one not because of it being mascot but because unlike bsing one up would be trying to say that it is possible for the regis to get a regional form best I got is that in a universe where rayquaza wasn't able to stop Kyogre/Groudon and one them won over the other rayquaza weakened but still being a legendary it has an amazing Vitaliy and over time it lost the flying typing and fall to the ground/water forced into hiding absorbing whatever energy it can becoming a Dragon/Fire(or ground whatever you want for Groudon) or Dragon/Water depending on which one won in the universe to someday be able to defeat them it survives in the new world (btw I would personally consider this closer to a paradox mon then regional form because it would have to happen in a different timeline/universe)
I also got a similar idea for Koraidon and Miraidon basically I consider Koraidon's timeline to be one where Groudon won so the world is constantly filled with harsh sunlight forcing mons to be able to survive in arid canyons/deserts so the regional variant would be a Dragon/Water type (maybe it would be different type because it isnt a fire type originally maybe dark idk best i got although it might be a groudon/kyogre case where only kyogre's type matches the weather) being more accustomed to a world flooded with water evolving it in an opposite direction and for Miraidon sci-fi stuff is most often extreme technology based or human evolved to get supernatural powers so Miraidon would evolve into a Dragon/Psychic type (it could be a case where Koraidon's type matches the weather but Miraidons type doesn't but fits the theme so Dragon/Ghost or Dark) setting up Psychic terrain

I love the legendary regional variations. My favorite is the regional variant of Ho-oh, but I have an idea. What if this legendary had a variant of ALL types as a Phoenix can be a fire Phoenix, but also many others like a water, ice, grass or ghost like in this video. Keep it up. I would like to see what the variants of the next legendarys are going to be.
Ghost Ho-Oh is super fitting due to their landmark being in Ecruteak City, where Morty's Gym is. I recall wanted variants of Ground (Ho-Oh) and Dragon (Lugia) due to their Isle of Armor moves.
Awesome video, I actually learned a lot about Lugia specifically thanks to this video. As for the idea of more regional variants for Legendaries, I can defiantly see it although I'm not sure it's gonna happen for all them. Like for example, the Creation Trio (Giratina, Dialga and Palkia), are just way too important and way too centralized for them to have regional variants, same thing with the Lake Trio (Uxie, Azelf and Mesprit). However Mewtwo I can defiantly see it happen with, and the fact that it is a man-made Pokemon actually makes it more possible than these other Legendaries, when you really think about it.
Honestly I thought it would be cool if Ho-oh was fire ghost type and Lugia was water psychic type. That way they are both super effective against each other.
So personally I think apart from the artificial legendaries/mythicals which could all be explained by "someone else wanted to attempt the creation of the pokemon" I think all the potential regional variants would have to be some sort of seemingly temporary but long term change such as the fruit changing the legendary birds, as alot of these Pokémon are depicted as unique origin Pokémon I could see Ho-oh's design being that every 10 "generations" Ho-Oh must die to then be reborn, but I'm not sure how to make lugia's work lore wise Lugia was really goofed in the typing process irl
While I love the idea of a regional variant of Mewtwo explained as it is, I find it hard to believe that they would call this new mewtwo a regional variant instead of “Mewthree” 😂
i’d love a “failed experiment” mewtwo, where scientists in another region attempted to replicate cloning mew, but failed, resulting in a vengeful ghost/dark pokémon.
I think it would be cool if that regional Ho-oh had the unique ability: Revival, it rejuvenates half of its hp when KO'd by a fire type move, enhancing its special attack by 2 stages, decreasing its defense by 1 stage
It’s cool that the 3 Pokémon have red green and blue which are both representative of the starter types but are also the same as the first three games. Also it just looks cool when they are all together. Idk of this was on purpose or not but it’s still cool

For placement, my First thought for MewTwo was Gen 3, in an other timeline, where Rayquaza never came to save them, Scientists had to create an ultimate weapon to fight off Dexoys. Gaining Dark to be good against the Physic type. also, watching those two fight in space would be SOOOO cool. Ho-oh would ALSO work well in Gen 3, around Mt. Chimney, with Lugia being in that MESS on route 133 HAHA LOVED the new takes, and can't to see part 3!
I feel like the regional Lugia would be perfect as a regional variant for a Legends Arceus style game where we see an ancient version of Lugia, maybe before it could fly and changed typing in the modern day. All these designs are so cool and really well thought out and executed!
My idea for a variant of Mewtwo is a psychic and steel type that carries around a giant scythe and uses it's psychic powers to throw it around. It's only desire is to absorb the original Mewtwo and become the perfect Mewtwo
I have another idea for regional Mewtwo. "Scientists in another region stole the DNA reasearch data from team rocket and tried to recreate Mewtwo, but team leader of that region wanted to recreate Mewtwo stronger than the one team rocket made, they kept on reasearching on it but that reasearch took toll on Mewtwo's soul, ultimately that Mewtwo died, due to failure evil organization abandoned the project leaving dead Mewtwo in the lab as it is. Mewtwo's soul came out of its body and wandered the reasearch facility for years learning about the ruthless experiments conducted on it, it became very angry and spiteful and decided to take revenge. It completely exhausted it's psychic powers to create a body perfect for its purpose and became ghost/dark type in process"
I like to think the variant birds are examples of convergent evolution like Wiglette. They are not variations of the legendary trio, but they unrelated pokemon that evoled to take similar roles in Galar.
I'd rather give Ho-Oh the Ghost/Fire type. Phoenix like it are reborn from their ashes and its design still contains firery elements. Also, it's signature move is fire so losing its STAB seems weird (even if it could technically just get a new signature ability). Also, a newly reborn Phoenix may not necessarily be able to fly so quickly, and even then ghosts tend to levitate (even if they don't have the ability) so flying wouldn't even be necessary.
I like the designs, but I don’t think we’ll never seen a regional form of a legendary ever again and that’s because we technically never saw one to begin with. The “regional variants” of the legendary birds were actually convergent species (and were used to hint at this new gimmick for Scarlet and Violet) it even states so in their dex entries. The basic summary of these entries state that it is unclear whether they’re truly variants of the Kanto birds, or not; however, due to their similarities to the birds they were named as such. So yeah, not variants just unidentified convergent Pokémon.
i kinda always thought Lugia could've been water/psyshic either being capable of flying or say its its psychic power letting it float as it mimics flight with its wings. i think leviate needs to be like a sub ability its kinda a waste making a pokemon be a flying type or wasted ability slot with levitate best example is flygon being Ground/Dragon but its ability slot is wasted on something it should naturally be able to do
I hope you do more of this series! My favorite is the mewtwo variant and it gives me a dark/poison vibe with the green tail and veins looking like they could contain glowing toxins that can be used for moves like poison tail and poison jab!
It does seem like the Super-Ancients will be a big challenge, trying to find another group of feuding mythical creatures in the same vein as Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz. I suppose they could take more inspiration from the aforementioned giants that they're already based on, but I don't really see how that would work to make them similar to the originals even as "impostor" Pokemon like the Galarian Birds, given that Rayquaza is a serpent where Ziz is portrayed as more like a griffon and Kyogre is more like a fish despite Levathan being a multi-headed serpent.
Plesiosaurs and pterasaurs are not dinosaurs. They're marine/flying reptiles respectively. While they are cousins to dinosaurs, they are not one and the same.
I hope there will be part 2 and that it becomes a series, my favorite variant is Mewtwo, i very much like the lore of this variant, but i think it would be cool if they where from specific regions.
Mewtwo got me thinking if an outside force messed with the creation of a new mewtwo imagine the different outcomes like if another pokemon or human DNA was added
Lugia isn't a water-type due to not originally living in the sea, as it's dex entries state. The only reason it lives in the sea is due to it's wings causing hurricanes that are way too powerful, so it isolated itself.
I think you should separated in 3 categories. Regional variant for the Legend trios and miscellaneous legend like Heatran and Crescelia, box art legend get the primal reversion and mythical Pokémon with convergent or alternate form like Meloetta.
@@BergmitetheBlueandPointy0712 Mega Flygon was canceled due to artist block, And they only reluctantly added SOME of the mega’s return in Sun and Moon which had Species-specific Z-moves, Afterwards they scrapped both for gigantmax while starting to cut the dex. But those lasted even less time. Scarlet and Violet have removed any form of species specific generation gimmick. Terra has 18 variations, One for each type. It included only 4 regional forms, 3 of which are just tauros. They’re cutting more and more and more, To reduce effort of managing things. Movepools are becoming tighter, Abilities are nerfed, they keep wanting to reduce the variables both artistically and mechanically. Scarlet and Violet were the first time I didn’t buy the new games because of the fact the games are a buggy crashing disaster. I still love Pokémon, But I can’t support Gamefreak anymore. They’ve lost their touch.

I don’t think they stop to ponder the consequences in more depth than as it effects their job of game development. It’s incompetence not evil. And SDBP seems to be the new standard for remakes, Which just breaks my heart.
I'm glad they have been switching it up. I'm hoping this is a thing that sticks. Maybe even eventually having convergent evolution legendaries would be interesting as well.
Well the closet we have to convergent evolution of different creatures that look similar but are different to fulfill a similar role the top of my head is the swords of justice because they are not the same pokemon but have evolved fulfill similar roles of protecting pokemon
@@philipknightson4204 that’s not convergent evolution. A better example would be the pikaclones. Wiglet and Toad are just shaped similarly but are so different they don’t even count as regional variants
That Lugia is hands down my favourite! The Ho-oh design also sparked the idea, what if it changed between its original design and this ashy burnt out design? I'm not sure how it would work but it sounds cool
I know it probably explained their variance other than region but it’d be pretty sick if these were like a soft roll out of Paradox Pokémon before the main intro to explain the reason there’s more than one
The whole “different scientists made their own version” for the Mewtwo variant is similar to an idea I had for a regional variant of Zygarde (which I call Zygarde-NEO)
First off.. The regional Variants of Mewtwo, Ho-oh, and Lugia. Spot on. Though I think Lugia should also get a flying type as well. As Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres in their Galarian forms kept the flying type. So I think why not have the Regional Lugia have the flying type as well. Besides that they all look great. As for wanting to see more. Heck yes I do! There are tons of possibilities for what the other legendaries in variant forms can look like. Heck why not make variant forms for the 4th members of the legendary trios you did like Rocuatro and the others. So yes I want to see more of this and more 4th member in legendary trios as well.

For a Lugia variation I think one that is based off Shadow Lugia from Gale of Darkness would be a fun idea. It could be a water/dark or even pure dark type who's heart is completely closed off and has no form of compassion or goodness for humans since Shadow pokemon were made by closing their heart. Maybe it's signature move could be super effective against all types since in Gale of Darkness Shadow pokemon were super effective against non Shadow pokemon regardless of type.
I thought his lugia variant looked similar to shadow lugia

Ho-oh is gorgeous! I like that being ghost type, Ho-oh has adventage over original Lugia. And the same way, Lugia being water type it has adventage over the original Ho-oh.
Personally always believed that Lugia should have been a psychic water type. My reason is that it would give a deeper type of ying yang relationship between the two box legendaries simiar to the other legendaries like mew and Mewtwo being the first natural and man-made pokemon respectively. That been that Ho-oh could in a way represents a brigh and active spirit/mind due to been a light theme bird that's flying around the world doing something and Lugia the deeper, hidden and passive soul-subconscious that holds great amounts of power, like the actual subconscious, and is hidden/unseen in the dark beneath the oceans like the soul is hidden in the body.
That Dark Mewtwo could be a physical attacker. Maybe a bit faster but more frail than regular Mewtwo. Super cool!
I really like these regional variants. Only change I would make is make Lugia a water/dragon type, since it does draw inspiration from Ryujin the sea dragon god.
That Ho-oh would be sick as a multiversal form. From a universe where it died in the burned tower instead of or together with the 3 legendary beasts
I love all these so much! Especially the Rising From the Ashes Ho-oh. I absolutely need varients for the rest of the Legendaries. And then maybe the mythicals?
A good ability for that ho-oh could be something like: "If the Pokemon would faint, it turns back into its egg having 50% of the pokemons base health and is instead reborn after 2 rounds" (something like a substitute with 50% of ho ohs health and if it doesnt get destroyed, the ho oh is reborn again once per battle, maybe even with a slight stat boost in speed and special attack, but idk if that would be too OP)
Probably would be too OP.
I'd see it as an ability more like a mix of Palafin and Golisopod, where a move that would normally KO the Pokémon would instead send it to the back of the party and swap it out for another Pokémon. When you put Ho-Oh back onto the field, it's form will be changed (probably with the stat total being the same, but with different stat allocation) and its' HP restored a certain amount.

I like to see the Galarian Birds as the prototype for convergent evolution we encounter in gen9.
Everything regarding them in the lore, in the conversations with Peony, in the dex allude them as "lookalike" of the Kantonian Birds, and the justification to make their names coincide with what they are is too far fetched to not be a coincidence.
I don't think this will be ever retcon, but convergent evolution seems more fitting than a regional variant that would imply that they are pressured by their environment to change from their base form... For an as powerful entity as them, that's not really believable.

Also, it’s likely it doesn’t have to be a completely different animal. Yeah, the two ones we have are near opposites of the original, but I’m guessing future convergent Pokémon aren’t gonna be as drastic.
Some legendaries could still get regionals and make sense tho. Like Kubfu and Urshifu, Latios and Latias maybe, Lugia too if we go by anime lore, etc. These legendaries can have young (in lore) and these young when dropped into certain environments would definitely be pressured by it to change to better survive. I don't think a baby Latios or Kubfu would have enough power to just survive like it's nothing everywhere imo.
But yeah I agree that for a lot of other Legendaries a convergent would make more sense. Just a lookalike. And even then some would not make sense. How would a lookalike of Groudon come to existence? A lot of legendaries are basically gods.
For the Hoenn Weather Trio, I would personally make Groudon more based on the Abominable Snowman (Ice/Ground), Kyogre more based on a lava whale (Fire/Water), and Rayquaza more based on a serpent made of rock (Rock/Dragon)
It could be cool to see Groudon and kypgre have their roles reversed in a different region

Best I got for bsing something on the spot (even if don't rayquaza has possibility of getting one not because of it being mascot but because unlike bsing one up would be trying to say that it is possible for the regis to get a regional form best I got is that in a universe where rayquaza wasn't able to stop Kyogre/Groudon and one them won over the other rayquaza weakened but still being a legendary it has an amazing Vitaliy and over time it lost the flying typing and fall to the ground/water forced into hiding absorbing whatever energy it can becoming a Dragon/Fire(or ground whatever you want for Groudon) or Dragon/Water depending on which one won in the universe to someday be able to defeat them it survives in the new world (btw I would personally consider this closer to a paradox mon then regional form because it would have to happen in a different timeline/universe)
I also got a similar idea for Koraidon and Miraidon basically I consider Koraidon's timeline to be one where Groudon won so the world is constantly filled with harsh sunlight forcing mons to be able to survive in arid canyons/deserts so the regional variant would be a Dragon/Water type (maybe it would be different type because it isnt a fire type originally maybe dark idk best i got although it might be a groudon/kyogre case where only kyogre's type matches the weather) being more accustomed to a world flooded with water evolving it in an opposite direction and for Miraidon sci-fi stuff is most often extreme technology based or human evolved to get supernatural powers so Miraidon would evolve into a Dragon/Psychic type (it could be a case where Koraidon's type matches the weather but Miraidons type doesn't but fits the theme so Dragon/Ghost or Dark) setting up Psychic terrain

I love the legendary regional variations. My favorite is the regional variant of Ho-oh, but I have an idea. What if this legendary had a variant of ALL types as a Phoenix can be a fire Phoenix, but also many others like a water, ice, grass or ghost like in this video. Keep it up. I would like to see what the variants of the next legendarys are going to be.

Ghost Ho-Oh is super fitting due to their landmark being in Ecruteak City, where Morty's Gym is.
I recall wanted variants of Ground (Ho-Oh) and Dragon (Lugia) due to their Isle of Armor moves.
Awesome video, I actually learned a lot about Lugia specifically thanks to this video. As for the idea of more regional variants for Legendaries, I can defiantly see it although I'm not sure it's gonna happen for all them. Like for example, the Creation Trio (Giratina, Dialga and Palkia), are just way too important and way too centralized for them to have regional variants, same thing with the Lake Trio (Uxie, Azelf and Mesprit). However Mewtwo I can defiantly see it happen with, and the fact that it is a man-made Pokemon actually makes it more possible than these other Legendaries, when you really think about it.
Would love to see regional variants for all of the Tapu’s. I think there is a lot of potential with them!
If Lugia does come to Scarlet and Violet it can have a special Water Tera type raid battle

So personally I think apart from the artificial legendaries/mythicals which could all be explained by "someone else wanted to attempt the creation of the pokemon" I think all the potential regional variants would have to be some sort of seemingly temporary but long term change such as the fruit changing the legendary birds, as alot of these Pokémon are depicted as unique origin Pokémon I could see Ho-oh's design being that every 10 "generations" Ho-Oh must die to then be reborn, but I'm not sure how to make lugia's work lore wise Lugia was really goofed in the typing process irl

i’d love a “failed experiment” mewtwo, where scientists in another region attempted to replicate cloning mew, but failed, resulting in a vengeful ghost/dark pokémon.
I think it would be cool if that regional Ho-oh had the unique ability: Revival, it rejuvenates half of its hp when KO'd by a fire type move, enhancing its special attack by 2 stages, decreasing its defense by 1 stage

Before watching the video these are my thoughts for what legendaries would be the most possible entries for regional variants Mewmew being slightly adapted to a certain environment being an in-between of mew becoming different mon as the ancestor, Mewtwo being made slight differently/contaminated by accident of made from a mew in the in-between stage, The legendary beasts (ent,rai,sui) perhaps pokemon resurrected by a different legendary, eon duo (idk specific ls for this), deoxys being a different stand of virus coming to poke-earth, (i would include Regis but that would just be new regional mons and not varients), shaymin being a different flower, (darkrai and cresselia would probably become a trio/quartet with daydream/daymare mons), Genies being a different quartet guardian spirits of a different culture, swords of justice being a different weapon, genesect similar to mewtwo accidently contaminated or different type of weapon, victini being lose the battle but win the war version?, meloetta different genres of music, diancie different type of jewel, volcanion mist based?, UBs being transported to a different world and thriving after evolving to fit it better, (i don't think it would be a variant and don't think calyrex is based off the 4 horse men but a poison type horse for plague and a fighting type horse for war spectrier is easier as death but glacitrier could be famine?, different relics and koraidon and scarlet paradox mons evolving in a world full of water and rain (idk maybe groudon won in the original and kyogre won in the new one) and miraidon evolving in a world with more psychic energy (best I got that makes some sense to me) because two routes most scene in sci-fi stuff either extreme technology or worlds that humans evolved supernatural powers best I've got for bsing up plausible regional variants in about 10-30min idk
For placement, my First thought for MewTwo was Gen 3, in an other timeline, where Rayquaza never came to save them, Scientists had to create an ultimate weapon to fight off Dexoys. Gaining Dark to be good against the Physic type. also, watching those two fight in space would be SOOOO cool.
Ho-oh would ALSO work well in Gen 3, around Mt. Chimney, with Lugia being in that MESS on route 133 HAHA

I feel like the regional Lugia would be perfect as a regional variant for a Legends Arceus style game where we see an ancient version of Lugia, maybe before it could fly and changed typing in the modern day. All these designs are so cool and really well thought out and executed!
My idea for a variant of Mewtwo is a psychic and steel type that carries around a giant scythe and uses it's psychic powers to throw it around. It's only desire is to absorb the original Mewtwo and become the perfect Mewtwo
After Jotoan Ho oh uses burn up, it could change into its regional form for 3-5 turns.
I have another idea for regional Mewtwo. "Scientists in another region stole the DNA reasearch data from team rocket and tried to recreate Mewtwo, but team leader of that region wanted to recreate Mewtwo stronger than the one team rocket made, they kept on reasearching on it but that reasearch took toll on Mewtwo's soul, ultimately that Mewtwo died, due to failure evil organization abandoned the project leaving dead Mewtwo in the lab as it is. Mewtwo's soul came out of its body and wandered the reasearch facility for years learning about the ruthless experiments conducted on it, it became very angry and spiteful and decided to take revenge. It completely exhausted it's psychic powers to create a body perfect for its purpose and became ghost/dark type in process"
I like to think the variant birds are examples of convergent evolution like Wiglette. They are not variations of the legendary trio, but they unrelated pokemon that evoled to take similar roles in Galar.
I'd rather give Ho-Oh the Ghost/Fire type. Phoenix like it are reborn from their ashes and its design still contains firery elements. Also, it's signature move is fire so losing its STAB seems weird (even if it could technically just get a new signature ability). Also, a newly reborn Phoenix may not necessarily be able to fly so quickly, and even then ghosts tend to levitate (even if they don't have the ability) so flying wouldn't even be necessary.
Ho-oh looks so wise and finally Lugia is a water type. I can hardly wait for regional variant rayquaza. Keep up the great work 👍🙂

It would make more sense if a regional Mewtwo variant was a success. Meaning not tortured or ruthless but more Mew-like (prob a Psychic/fairy)
I like the designs, but I don’t think we’ll never seen a regional form of a legendary ever again and that’s because we technically never saw one to begin with. The “regional variants” of the legendary birds were actually convergent species (and were used to hint at this new gimmick for Scarlet and Violet) it even states so in their dex entries. The basic summary of these entries state that it is unclear whether they’re truly variants of the Kanto birds, or not; however, due to their similarities to the birds they were named as such. So yeah, not variants just unidentified convergent Pokémon.
i kinda always thought Lugia could've been water/psyshic either being capable of flying or say its its psychic power letting it float as it mimics flight with its wings.
i think leviate needs to be like a sub ability its kinda a waste making a pokemon be a flying type or wasted ability slot with levitate best example is flygon being Ground/Dragon but its ability slot is wasted on something it should naturally be able to do

It does seem like the Super-Ancients will be a big challenge, trying to find another group of feuding mythical creatures in the same vein as Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz. I suppose they could take more inspiration from the aforementioned giants that they're already based on, but I don't really see how that would work to make them similar to the originals even as "impostor" Pokemon like the Galarian Birds, given that Rayquaza is a serpent where Ziz is portrayed as more like a griffon and Kyogre is more like a fish despite Levathan being a multi-headed serpent.
I wanted Ash and Goh to battle and maybe catch the Galar birds
Plesiosaurs and pterasaurs are not dinosaurs. They're marine/flying reptiles respectively. While they are cousins to dinosaurs, they are not one and the same.
I hope there will be part 2 and that it becomes a series, my favorite variant is Mewtwo, i very much like the lore of this variant, but i think it would be cool if they where from specific regions.

Lugia isn't a water-type due to not originally living in the sea, as it's dex entries state. The only reason it lives in the sea is due to it's wings causing hurricanes that are way too powerful, so it isolated itself.
I have a correction to make and I'm very passionate about this fact: Plesiosaurs are *NOT* Dinosaurs.
I think you should separated in 3 categories. Regional variant for the Legend trios and miscellaneous legend like Heatran and Crescelia, box art legend get the primal reversion and mythical Pokémon with convergent or alternate form like Meloetta.

@@BergmitetheBlueandPointy0712 Mega Flygon was canceled due to artist block, And they only reluctantly added SOME of the mega’s return in Sun and Moon which had Species-specific Z-moves, Afterwards they scrapped both for gigantmax while starting to cut the dex. But those lasted even less time. Scarlet and Violet have removed any form of species specific generation gimmick. Terra has 18 variations, One for each type. It included only 4 regional forms, 3 of which are just tauros. They’re cutting more and more and more, To reduce effort of managing things. Movepools are becoming tighter, Abilities are nerfed, they keep wanting to reduce the variables both artistically and mechanically.
Scarlet and Violet were the first time I didn’t buy the new games because of the fact the games are a buggy crashing disaster. I still love Pokémon, But I can’t support Gamefreak anymore. They’ve lost their touch.

Well the closet we have to convergent evolution of different creatures that look similar but are different to fulfill a similar role the top of my head is the swords of justice because they are not the same pokemon but have evolved fulfill similar roles of protecting pokemon

First off.. The regional Variants of Mewtwo, Ho-oh, and Lugia. Spot on. Though I think Lugia should also get a flying type as well. As Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres in their Galarian forms kept the flying type. So I think why not have the Regional Lugia have the flying type as well. Besides that they all look great.
As for wanting to see more. Heck yes I do! There are tons of possibilities for what the other legendaries in variant forms can look like. Heck why not make variant forms for the 4th members of the legendary trios you did like Rocuatro and the others. So yes I want to see more of this and more 4th member in legendary trios as well.
