The tattoo industry racism is just like the hair industry. I was a hair stylist for 10 years and had black women who couldn’t believe I could do their hair. It’s so sad to me! Put in the work master your craft to accept any race!!

this!! i’m in cos school currently and the amount of white students that don’t wanna learn how to do black hair is baffling to me. you can’t claim to have any expertise in your field until you can provide great results for all your clients no matter their race. can’t believe they don’t think it’s important enough to learn this basic information.

I agree @santina it had a lot to do with the schools as well. I remember we had two days maybe three on black hair. I had to learn on my own after school. The industry needs to focus on all hair types!!

Yes!! I’m studying to be a makeup artist and one of my assignments was called “globally diverse” where you work on someone that doesn’t look like you. So if you’re a poc you can work on a white person but it basically shows that you can colour match to people of skin tones different to you, I had to do eyeliner on an Asian girl with really hooded eyes, you basically show that you can do makeup on someone that has different features to your own that you would do everyday. I don’t understand why this isn’t a normal thing in all industries

This!! I did a hair course back in 2016-2017 and not once did we learn about black hair. Every single mannequin we used was catered for fine hair and even the themes we did was basically white. Also, I did a makeup course too which is the exact same. We did Cool and warm tones but not once did we ever learn about black skin, it’s ridiculous.

There are several cultures around the world that used/uses the swastika as good luck. Even some native American tribes had/used the same symbol. It's this pseudo-intellectuality people claim to have because they are above all the meaning symbols transfer. Which you don't decide for other people. And the Hakenkreuz (it's the other way around from traditional swastikas, it's not the same) is the symbol of the most destructive and anti-humane fascist movement in our history (my countries history), displaying that with just such condecending words is just to polarize. And that does nothing to reclaim symbols, it just shows that you are oblivious to collective trauma and responsibilities we should learn from history.

I feel it's a bit of a catch 22, because you have to practice but no one wants to be the guinea pig so to speak lol. But this guy sounds like not only is he inexperienced with tattooing dark skin tones, but he also has an unwillingness to learn it, and that is the problem. Honestly tattooing darker skin tones should be the norm and not considered some specialty, it's ridiculous that this is even a thing. Kat von D is always saying how she's not any of these things she's accused of being, but time and again her actions have proven otherwise, and she is only surrounded by people who have their own racist/anti-semitic opinions, so it doesn't look good for her.

@@relikelectrik795 I do, absolutely. I was in med school fir virology and studied epidemiology. I know for a fact that these masks aren't exactly effective and they can cause a lung disease called byssinosis. Its generally rare however since we're being forced to wear cotton masks all of the time, byssinosis won't be as rare anymore. So yes I get science quite well and know a great deal more than the average person. Most people don't realize, you can't create a vaccine in under a year. It takes at least 2 to 3. Safety trials are a must and if they said they they were completed for the covid vaxx, well then they're full of crap .
We're not being told the truth about all of this. I'm not saying there's not a virus but I'm saying that the media has been lying. How many people truly, I mean honesty died from this? I want real numbers and so should everyone else. I hope everyone does know that if a person that has passed away from natural or unnatural causes but had tested positive (which isn't hard considering the PCR test is extremely inaccurate and gives a lot of false positives), that person will then be counted as a covid death. These cases should not be counted at all when the COD was clearly some other reason.
Again I do know science and I do know lies and I do know how the world works and I do know the level of control that's being forced onto us. Everything I pointed out here is indeed fact and can be found if one so wishes to find it.
Rule of thumb should be don't believe everything your told by the media also, always do your own research but leave google out of it as they're owned by the problem. Look for independent studies and news outlets. Its not hard at all to deceive the masses when fear is the method of control. Don't be apart of the flock if sheep. Dont be a follower. Be the leader you are meant to be. Don't trash others because they question the official narrative. Trust me, those if us who do question, have done our research and have done so extensively.

The neck tattoo given all the contexts of the symbols in it seems like a hindu or bhuddist tattoo. It's facing the opposite direction, there are dots within it (that are common within japanese bhuddism), the hexagram in the middle which is not a star of david but a manjji or shatkona. And finally how there's a lotus flower below which is a common symbol in bhuddism and hinduism. Literally everything points to it being a religious/spiritual tattoo.

I think that without honoring that the tittle "artist" comes with "tattoo" in this situation, and those who lack foundational knowledge in art will struggle greatly as a tattoo artist. My sister hopes to become a tattoo apprentice in the near future and is also in a performing arts high school (with her mainly focused on art). She comes to me all the time (as I am a hobbyist artist with some foundational art skills) telling me how the things she learns in class + the books/sketches I've done/read in my classes help her with composition, weight of line, etc when she draws for her own leisure, but also when she sketches out her flash sheets or tattoo concepts. Art and tattooing cannot exist without the other because they're simply the same thing, except this time its on skin. As if the name doesn't imply it. It breaks my heart to see that people don't internalize this and in exchange carry out their racist contributions 😒

I also had heard of her because she’s tattooed one of the Lord of the Rings actors a couple times (he was even in an episode of LA Ink getting one!), but back then I wasn’t tattooed myself and hadn’t done any research. I think after the whole anti-vaxxer thing that went down, I just tried to stay away from any mention of her 😅 I had no idea about the racism/anti-Semitism though... Jesus Christ, this is all so disgusting. Thank you for making this video to spread awareness though - I wouldn’t have been aware otherwise, and I’m sure there’s others who wouldn’t be aware either.

It is not the Nazi swastika. I live in Japan and see those in Buddhist temples here. And if you can't or don't know how to tattoo darker skin, it's not racist to say hey I don't know how to tattoo the skin colour correctly so they're not going to be disappointed later on after it heals. From what I have read she is now in no way connected to what use to be her makeup line. Meaning she will not be getting any of the proceeds that come from any of the stock purchase whether new or old stock. It's now rebranded to KVD Vegan Beauty.

My aunt got me into Kat Von D and Miami Ink when it used to come on TLC back in the day. I used to love her and the idea of being a badass tattoo model when I got older. When I found out she was also of Spanish origin, I thought it was so cool because I was too. I wanted to be like her and I wanted to look like her, makeup, tattoos and everything. I still aspire to be a plus size body modifications model. Even if she's no longer my inspiration. It sucks how she completely changed and became a pariah now. I didn't really have access to internet and I only saw her on TV growing up. I had no idea about anything that went on with her. It's sad that people you look up to aren't as good of people as they lead you to believe

Just a little information, the symbol was not invented by the Nazis. Until 1944, for example, a blue swastika could be seen on aircraft of the Finnish Air Force. But even long before that, the sign was already used. Five thousand years ago, American Indians would even have used the sign. The Mayans, Aztecs and Vikings are also known to have used the symbol. And, although the sign was not widely used in the so-called Abrahamic religions, on the floor of a synagogue in Ein Gedi, as in some other ancient synagogues, a swastika was found. The oldest swastikas found date back to 2500 years BC. In both Hinduism and Buddhism, the swastika is often found on the chest or feet of Buddha statues. Many temples in India and Nepal are still decorated with swastikas. The sign is also called sun wheel and sometimes symbolizes the four cardinal points. Difference with the swastika of the Nazis is that the sign is tilted. Normally the character is displayed in parallel. The swastikel, as is called the sign of the Nazis, is actually rotated eighth. I'm not saying it's oké, I just wanted to share a small piece of history 😊

The irony that there are many dark-skinned peoples who very much ARE tattood people.
