Bella Fleck. Constantly creating diverse musical alchemy and watching it work. Much like a scientist, carefully observing the elements he has brought together and their combined effects. I have nothing but respect for this man and what he has brought to music.

All these sessions, highlighting the integration of the new generation of string players with the standard bearers are great!!! Thanks to Bela for the anchor.

Love the way Billy is so respectful and dignified , but does not fade into the background. Not many musicians his age can do that😍😍

I won't disagree, but I'll add that not a lot of 30 year olds musicians get the chance. The first time I met Bela Fleck, he was 24 and on his first tour with New Grass Revival. Billy is 29. He looks like he's 18, but he's not. Molly Tuttle is 28 and Sierra Hull 30, here's to the youngsters.

The only way this lineup could have been better would be if Mark O'Connor had shown up too...but it ain't like he was missed. They're pretty much all the best there is on their instrument. Edgar Meyer is the best upright bass player on the planet. Jerry Douglas...same, Bela...same, and Billy Strings is our current favorite artist. Hands Down. This is "Strength in Numbers" on steroids. If that means nothing to you search RUclips for that historic group, partially portrayed here. Thanks for posting this.

Such a pleasure to watch all these folks I've been in awe of a good part of my life playing with the great up and coming players. I was curious to see how Billy would fit in and he was just awesome not only keeping up but not shying away from adding his particular energy to the mix. Just top-notch all around!! So great in this song seeing him and Brian playing off each other.

Wow! Bela you are exploring new music on the banjo that is so innovative and beyond what has been done heretofore with the instrument- You must be so energized as you really stand alone right now. Keep going!

I saw “the titans” in St Louis and bought the live stream to see how they would interweave all the musicians. I was mesmerized by this song and got to rewatch it a number of times. One of the best live performances in my mind. I think they must have done the Vulcan mind meld to be so in sinc with each other.

yes, Billy Strings plays it at his shows too, but on the back of the album all song writing credits are to Bela Fleck. The only exception is the last track "Psalm 136" which is written by Bela and Chris Thile.

A portion of musicians he assembled to play on his double CD, My Bluegrass Heart, which came out last September. He has been touring with different configurations of the groups. Buy it, support musicians, buy a ticket and go to the show when it comes by you. I watched them in Raleigh back in Sep or October at the IBMA World of Bluegrass week.

Either the sound system was terrible, or the recording was terrible..... you can't clearly hear the lead instruments, they sound like they have too much reverb or too far away.

    • @Lea99Jones

No DIs, just a bunch of snazzy microphones... And the iPhone is what, five rows back, getting a mix of room sound and whatever PA they're using. The whole band stops when the guitars are playing. Sam Bush and the bass also get a solo section... This is a live ACOUSTIC JAM. The skill and understanding of the players is what makes ANY of this listenable... The bass player might have a direct line. Also notice that they all good with playing along with the banjo. They're basically mixing their sound onstage.

It’s like my favorite all time bluegrass band, but instead of Tony Rice, it’s Bryan Sutton and Billy Strings. Good gravy.
