Alma Deutscher stands with the poise and confidence of a seasoned professional. And playing with Tanja Zhou you can turn off the video and just listen and you'll think it's Oistrakh and Heifetz. How is this even humanly possible? תודה רבה לך
These two girls renew my faith in humanity. I so love israel, abounds in culture and gave me four incredible years of study in Bach. Alma is today’s Mozart. I adore these two.
The dynamics and playing by Alma and Tanja in the second moment of the Bach violin concerto is so beautiful. Arik’s conducting and questions are so perceptive . Alma and Tanja are so enchanting . This must be heaven !
This is divine. The discussion is out of this world when the 2 young violinists explain the Bach composition. Congrats to Arik for inviting them to talk about it.
God Bless Bach who gave us such wonderful music. This music put together two wonderful musicians and a fantastic conductor. Bach sings like no other composer and these two genius produced what Bach wrote. Astonishing.❤❤❤
❤ ❤ ❤ Dear Alma & Tanja, this is just STUNNING !!! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Particularly the 2nd movement, starting at 8:00, is so incredibly moving. ❤ ❤ ❤ If Bach has heard this up there, he could not be happier !!! ❤ ❤ ❤
Watching a visualization of the 2nd movement (ruclips.net/video/Hy4jMNQC-2w/видео.html), I had to think about your Magic Skipping Rope all the time - I believe that If Bach would have forgotten to write it down, I think you would unavoidably have composed it anyway :-) You are just amazing, Alma "Bach" Deutscher !!!
Awesome - this side of Heaven I don't think anyone could recreate such amazing sounds with so much passion - it makes the soul of someone who used to play both violin and piano professionally years ago (but had to quit due to an anaesthetic which went wrong in 1995) rejoice to hear such heavenly interpretations in the 21st century - gems indeed.....
Hearing and watching these two lovely young girls is my Christmas present to me. Such gifts are immeasurable. Thank you... and thank you to Arie Vardi for recognizing these artists and sharing with us.
Oh, so funny that the three- Arik, Alma, Tanja- first met in Goslar, Germany!! That’s such a small place, and it is only 30 minutes from my home! What a small world!!
In January a set of videos of Tanja Zhou were posted and they are well worth seeing. She is four years older than Alma. The earliest video is of her playing at age eight. Her more recent performances are truly sensational. On the piano she plays Liszt and Chopin superbly and her interpretations are perfect. But do watch her recent performance of Paganini's amazing Caprice 24. Could it be better played? I doubt it. There is a video of her playing the whole of the Grieg Piano Concerto in Germany at age 13. It is as pleasant an interpretation as I have ever heard and my memories of the concerto go back to 1943 when I heard Thaddeus Kozuch, then an American serviceman, play it with the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra. It was brilliant of Arik to bring these two geniuses together.
Beautiful playing, two incredibly talented young ladies, very inspiring. long may we have music like this and rising young talents to play it so expressively.
It appears the conductor cannot believe his eyes and ears...what a gift by God. They are both so accomplished. Little Alma with her knowing smile and Tanjo so serious.
absolutely phantastic, these young instrumentalists. Last Thursday I heard Almas Oper "Des Kaisers neue Walzer" in the Landestheater Salzburg and I am so glad to have the possivbility. I am a great fan of Alma and her music and her competitions. Thanks Alma for giving us this great music coming from your heart :) :) :)❤
Just heard about Alma's amazing gifts as a musician and a composer , and this is the first video with her that I have listened to. What a stunning achievement (by Tanja too, of course!). I can't wait to listen to Alma's compositions. This is the best Christmas present ever.
I can promise you won't be disappointed. Alma is an incredible pianist, violinist and composer. She also plays organ now and again too. I had the great privilege of meeting Alma in person during Christmas week, when Alma's opera Cinderella premiered in Vienna. She has an incredibly beautiful personality. Her CD, "The Music of Alma Deutscher" was made when she was just 8 years old, but is to die for.
Thank you so much for taking the trouble to reply to me! I will listen to more of Alma's work as soon as I can (unfortunately I am super-busy). From what I have seen of her, I agree that besides her musical gifts, she seems to have an enchanting personality and that this combination is something very, very special. It is so wonderful that due to this digital age we live in, almost anyone who wishes, has the chance to connect with this amazing person who is Alma Deutscher. This is a great privilege of our times and I am so grateful for it.
@@suewilldig1087 Their playing. - , is pure. beauty... Fine fingers of intricacy trace my tears of wonder at the miracle of Bach living in Tania and Alma!
Louise Gogel Sure, Alma Deutscher is becoming more famous and beloved as a composer and performer and the World Premier of her new opera "The Emperor's New Waltz" will premiere next month in Salzburg, but how about Tanja? I looked up the fact that she is Taiwanese and I know it has been impossible for anyone to travel from or to the country during COVID, but I could not find any performances by her since 2016. She seems to have been forgotten except for her existing videos.
Dear Alma! I have got tears in my eyes while watching and listening to this stunning concert, this makes me so happy 😊 thank you for sharing these moments on your channel
Just wonderful to see these young ladies show us their talent and gift us with such delightful music. Continue the great work. Hope to see more. There is just something about seeing youth accomplish great things
O M G !!! Both girls made a demonstration of skill not so common in so young girls. they have an amazing talent. Surely make us to be proud of knowing them even just in a video!!! Congratulations for you two and God bless you!!! The samething. e for you Amira for have shown us that!😄😘💙
'In concert' in a private home, of course it was possible. Women were taught music and encouraged to perform, but not to display themselves for money on a public stage. Different times, different ways. But nobody who could get live music, played well, in their home would have refused it because a woman was playing. In Bach's time, however, very few people could afford instruments or instruction. Only the well-off or someone with a rich patron could achieve what Alma has achieved - male or female.
This is so great! I really enjoyed every minute of it. I would like to also congratulate the conductor and interviewer, he did a great job. Please, go on and give us lots more of your music. All the best from Germany!
These two musicians have a great life and future ahead of them. They are inspirational, quite exceptional, they have a maturity way beyond their years. What a lot we have the privilege to look forward to.
I am thrilled that this most recent posting had English subtitles so that we could understant Maestro Vardi's prefacing remarks. This performance was remarkable and the balance between Alma and Tanja was perfect as each took their turn at either the melody and harmony. Alma's interpretation was excellent. There were a couple of places where she would slide up into second position and one place (during the second movement) where she played a harmonic. I don't know whether or not these details were notated in the score but they added just the right touch to the interpretation. During the first intermission Alma put on her composer's cap and climbed inside of the music and analyzed the chromatics, giving us a little lesson in musical theory. Bravo, Tanja and Alma for this excellent reading. The double piano concerto performance was equally excellent.
Arik is a great host, drawing wonderful comments from the violinists. Those musical examples were just great and quite enlightening for any inclined audience. Plus this double concerto is just heavenly music, the best showcase for these two young violinist. Alma's facial expressions are priceless. Alma is playing a 3/4 size violin, hence her sharper timbre?
Tanja and Alma play both the violin and piano very well. We have listened to their "Bach Concerto for 2 Pianos" and "Bach Concerto for 2 Violins" I hope they perform someday on RUclips -- showing a "Sonata for Piano and Violin" -- where Alma and Tanja SWITCH instruments halfway through the Sonata. That ould be AWESOME! How about it, Tanja and Alma?
Brilliant performance by 2 young musicians. 2nd time I'm hearing you Alma. The interviews with the conductor are very professional for such young musicians. It is obvious that they know the music they are playing & can demonstrate to the conductor their ability to answer his questions by playing certain parts. Will listen to the piano work by Bach now. Hope there are more videos of both of you playing together.
In the interlude discussions with Arik, Tanja reveals a delightful personality and so obviously enjoys her new found friendship with Alma despite the difference in age. Arik is careful to engage with both "wonders" in equal measure and on an equal footing (Bless him)
Remnants100 - as a long time admirer of dear Alma, I am well aware of her delightful personality. My comment re Tanya was not meant to be anything other than it is. I beg forgiveness ii giving any other impression.
I had to look up “tofeset” on Google. I always thought that, in Bashanah Haba-ah, the children were playing what in American English is called catch, and that is how it was translated in my summer camp songbook. It seemed reasonable that children in an open field were catching balls thrown by other children close to a house, and vice-versa. Now, after Alma’s comment, I understand that the children were playing tag in a game where both the house and the back yard were within bounds.
Beautiful and inspiring... Mastery proclaimed in this musical duo of Angelical Merit. I aam speachless and so moved by such precision of movment rendered by hands so young! Again you have both brought my eyes to water and my heart to light up as a sun. Thankyou so much to you both for this grace you have afforded us all. BRAVA !
This is honestly one of my favourite pieces ever composed, and these young ladies render it beautifully.
Very beautiful, thank you! This kind of concerts should be watched in schools.
The true star is Bach.
As always
These girls are perfect children so innocent and pure. God bless them
There must be a God to create such talent and beauty, please keep going.......
Notice at 3:24 she's actually leading the orchestra instinctively. It's certain when she's older she'll be conducting.

Concerto for 1,75 violins as Alma plays on 3/4 size :D Respect !
And heartfelt congratulations from South Africa. So much warmth and brilliance. Thank you!
A wise good humoured conductor, and two brilliant young musicians. A supremely enjoyable experience for them and for us.
A very pleasant conversation indeed!!!
It should have been Beethoven year for sure!
I'm still waiting for annum Amadeus Mozartu
Bach, and these two young ladies, brought tears to my eyes, wonderful.
These two girls renew my faith in humanity. I so love israel, abounds in culture and gave me four incredible years of study in Bach. Alma is today’s Mozart. I adore these two.
Those two blessed young people, they lift us up into heaven playing wounderful music. Look at their faces while playing. It is amazing.

Yes it is, c’est le ciel qui visite la terre !
This is divine. The discussion is out of this world when the 2 young violinists explain the Bach composition. Congrats to Arik for inviting them to talk about it.
So much fun to listen to their thoughts and explanations.
These superb young artists with Bach's music allow an escape from the otherwise in many ways troubling world we live in!
Just wonderful from both young ladies.Whenever I watch Alma I find myself smiling at her obvious enjoyment of the music.
Besides being extremely talented, both understand the music so well that a lot of the very famous performers don’t have. This is very unique.
Love the touching clarity of their music... but the joy of their expressions are priceless.
An experience beyond words. To listen to something so un- explain-ably too beautiful.
Bach is always wonderful and up lifting and perfect and the two girls playing are blessed with so much talent.
Watching Alma brings me to tears! She is amazing.

+AlmaDeutscher Wow you Replied :-):-):-)
Alma, you bring beauty into a world that has become to grey, please never stop creating.
Rod Diener Yeah you're right !!!
The precision of Almas notes are honey to the ears. Brava bravissima!!

Alma and Tanja, this performance is just beautiful.. Well done girls... ♥♥
What a great conductor to work with. I bet working with you two was a high point in his career.
Fantastic ladies violin and piano ,magnific interpretation 💎😀👏👏👏👏

Mr Vardi thank you for the treat. Bello
Fantastic, beautiful, soothing, relaxing.............more!
Unfortunately i am a-musical myself but i love to watch you play and talk about 'your' music.
Beautiful souls. Thank you for sharing the beauty of music that you hear to the world.
Love it! Heard this concerto live in the 90s played by Sir. Yehudi Menuhin with Royal Philharmonic. Both wonderful
THANK YOU , girls...superb! ❤️from 🇬🇧.
Angels from heaven, accompanied by a heavenly host!

Breathtaking, inspiring, unbelievable
Thank you! Wonderful! Herr Bach woild be happy!
Beautiful playing, two incredibly talented young ladies, very inspiring. long may we have music like this and rising young talents to play it so expressively.
Such beauty and perfection. We are so privileged to have such an accomplished duo. Thanks so much.
ThisConcert is so beautifull .....God Bless Alma and Tanja.....
Lovely girls - Wonderful music making - smiles all the way round
Girls best performance of this concerto I have heard. Beautiful, pure and delicate. JS Bach is so proud and happy to create this concerto for you two.
Actually Johann Sebastian Bach composed all his music for the glory of God
It appears the conductor cannot believe his eyes and ears...what a gift by God. They are both so accomplished. Little Alma with her knowing smile and Tanjo so serious.
This is what it must be like in heaven
Arik is a fantastic inteviewer. He gets the best of these two little geniuses. Congrats.
+Jose Macia I was thinking the exact same thing. A wonderful interviewer.

Crying into my beer. I love these girls and I love JSB. May my life end now.
May you indulge in life filled with beautiful music... Alma and Tanja are here to stay and there is so much beauty they bring!

Чудо детки, просто Восхитительно! Сразу перед глазами Ойстрах и Менухин , исполнение которых я слушала тысячу раз. Какой великолепный концерт.
Such brilliance and grace, combined with the divine beauty of the music. Thank you.
Having watched a lot of Alma's playing now you get the feeling that this is all too easy for her. Must drive others crazy.
If Bach was alive he will cry of hapyness..God is Alma and Tanja
