It’s not much better without them 💀 I’m not using my headphones rn, and it’s like I’m listening to people talking when I’m under water, or my ears have a lot of pressure in them. The audio is not great lol
Its so cool and refreshing to actually see a professional artist learning how to tattoo, instead of the usual youtube/tiktok videos where non-artists just buy a machine and fail. this is so informative and relaxing to see and also omg Dayne's voice and way of speaking is so soothing
Looking at Dayne's tattoos- I can tell he has a lot of confidence with even the thinnest and tiniest strokes. It's extremely impressive how detailed he can get while also allowing it to flow well.
Dude, as an art baby myself, it’s so cool to see my number one inspiration trying out new things, and expanding his knowledge. It helps me remember that even though I see Sam as an incredible artist, he’s also still learning new things all the time like the rest of us. Anyways, awesome video!! (Dayne’s hair is insane dude I love it) thanks for the amazing video!!❤
Well getting a tattoo is a whole different thing vs *doing* the tattooing. I'm not afraid of getting my vaccination shots, but if I was tasked with giving someone else an injection shot-- I'd be terrified too.
My dad started tattooing when he was 14, he was not supposed to but he did. And now that’s his profession, I practically grew up in my dad’s shop and it’s crazy how much accuracy and patience you need to tattoo. Props to Sam, well done 👏
THATS MY BESTIE!!! I LOVE DAYNE! I'm so glad this collab of my favorite tattooist and my fav artist happened! This was such a great informative content!!! Great job guys!
I'm a professional comic book artist and I'm decent at drawing. I always thought I wouldn't have too much issue if I ever wanted to do tattoos. After seeing this I have so much more respect. This looks like a scary career to get into with a ton of skill beyond drawing. Drawing lines on a persons skin you can't correct would be terrifying.
This was so fun and educational! Dayne is such a talented artist AND good teacher, he explained everything so well, even someone who knew nothing about how tattoos 'work' (like me) could easily understand!
Tattoo artists are the final form. They mastered anatomy, lighting, and 3D thinking. They are too powerful! Joking aside, this was inspiring to see. I've always understood that tattoos are artists' work put onto your body, but now I finally understand just how intricate and methodical their works are. Along with how much energy and effort goes into them. I now have a deeper appreciation for all the tattoo artists and all that they come up with and make.
This was awesome! I'd love to see more episodes of you trying out different things and getting someone to teach you like this. Also, Dayne, if tattooing ever becomes boring? ASMR man, what a super relaxing voice and mannerism! He's going to be an amazing(Maybe already is!?) tutor to apprentices. They'll be lucky to get someone to explain to them in such a calm manner. Epic!
im a tattoo apprentice, and have definitely learned some things from this collab 🔥 dayne is a great teacher, and it sounds like he learned from good mentors himself!
As a tattoo artist i think basic drawing studies are needed, is not a paper or a screen where you can erase, you can't commit mistakes and the best way to avoid them is having a dominated technique at least to make a straight line or geometrical figures. What you can learn with practice and time is control over the hand pulse, the machine and the clients, remember is a living canvas, its gone move sometimes. So as a doctor need medical studies to do his work a tattoo artist need drawing studies. You have what you need and more if you want to try and im shure you will be good
I love this so much! It's never a bad thing to go outside your comfort zone! I hope this is the first of many such videos! Having the background noises of their necklaces rubbing against the mic were an interesting addition tho.
I designed 2 tattoos in my life for friends who asked me for it. It really was a challenge. I knew from the beginning that I need to think different here than just like a "normal" illustration. But I did tell my friends that they should always go to the tattoo artist with it and let them redraw things they need to, as they know better what works best. The first one was a really big buddha illustration - most of it was taken as I drew it, just some small parts were altered. Which makes me very proud. The second one was just a fine "handwriting" and was taken 100% like my drawing. It's somehow amazing but I also felt a bit stressed when drawing them back then, because you also know that this will be on someones skin FOREVER afterwards. Love that you brought Dayne here! So inspiring.
That man is awsome the way he explain the way he stay calm and composed even when sam screw up haha and the way he encourage him damn he is so gentle and kind and he got the best soothing voice he is indeed the best teacher !
OMG this is my dram came true, i've always wanted to see you struggling with a tattoo machine lol i love you so mcuh Sam thank you for doing this, love from a tattoop artist who tries to learn digital art 💕
So cool! I've been tattooing 10-15yrs now and I'm one of the rare ones that can in fact draw and came from a drawing background. One thing i immediately noticed in the video was when you realized how much "excess ink" there is while pulling lines in skin. The stencil becomes a very loose guideline very quickly. lol! There's so much excess ink at times that your view of the piece can/will become completely obstructed and I can remember early on in my career struggling so badly with this aspect of tattooing! As someone who draws alot I know you can relate, becaused you not only WANT, but you EXPECT, to actually SEE what you're drawing as you're drawing it!? And in tattooing this ofetn is not the case. You did great though and this was an awesome video thank you so much for sharing it!
actually just went through the same experience with trying tattooing as a digital/paper artist and the depth is most certainly the hardest part and you just don't really think of it, truly, til you try it. love this video :D
You should try shading too. its easier than liner for begginer. If You would like You could be amazing tattoo artist cause your drawing is stuning and I think you know that.
I love the guest-on-a-podcast style of this video, Sam keep up the amazing work!! Maybe you could bring more guests to your channel, this was certainly fun :)))
a spare thought came into my head... whenever you draw slower your hand tends to create wiggly lines, just me talking based on sketching pencil on paper, but i feel like that truly informs the artist on what medium or tool is used. It feels to me that the amount of time they spend on the technique is just getting used to the needle, i love it. Sam, keep m comin man, also Dane, you do you man, your art looks phenomenal.
This was really cool to see because I want to do tattooing on the side when I’m older but I have no idea how it works or how to start so this was really cool to see thank you Sam and Dayne
