    Thanks Spencer - used this technique in reverse to remove the bracelet from my 1972 Cevert 🙏🏻

    Thanks I got it this time with your video. Going bottom hole first helped.

    Good tutorial, I like how you walk the springbar down while keeping pressure on it.

    Spencer, thanks for making this video! I really struggle with springbars and bracelets cause I have Shrek fingers. It's clearly about technique.

    Thank you, Spencer. Appreciate all of the great tutorials.
    QUESTION: I have a 6139-7039 and want to upgrade my period correct but not original bracelet for a modern Seiko bracelet (e.g., a King Seiko KS1969 or Prospex Speedtimer SRQ047, both of which are 19mm). Assuming I can get one of these bracelets, can I just swap it in to the 6139-7039 as is or do I need to use the original end link? Many thanks.

    One take I believe so kudos for that. I sometimes struggle with solid endlinks bc you can’t always slide them in diagonally, only straight in.

      Easy, you just need the correct tool. Does both ends at once.

    If possible, I like to undo the watch at the clasp so that it is in two sections. I've always found it easier to attach the first one, and this way, it's like both ends are the first one!

      Yup, good call. I don't do that because it's an extra step so I just go hell for leather.

    I find taking bracelets off when they're already on watches more difficult than taking them off, especially with solid-link bracelets which aren't as flexible/have less side-to-side play as these folded-link bracelets. On some older bracelets, it seems like there isn't always a spring bar to pop out of one end of the clasp to separate it out into 2 pieces to make it easier - both ends seem to be fixed to the clasp.

    On the 6139's, are the hallow end links supposed to always be flushed with the case and lugs once bracelet is installed? I've seen some that are flush and some that are not.

    I just purchased a Pogue - do I need to have it in one of those watch cases that rotates it auto for me?

      Nope, just swing the watch back and forth to get the weight moving, until the watch starts up. Then set the time forward until you cross over "midnight" when the day & date change. Then set to the correct time, and do the day / date (as long as the displayed time is NOT between 9 pm and 3 am).

    Funny... That's exactly how I've been holding the watches, for years!!
    But I use the broad side of that tool or sometimes just a knife or my fingernail to push the spring bars in...

    Unrelated question: I just noticed that when I pull out the crown on my 6139-6002 the dial "wobbles" a bit to the right, as if the crown is pulling it along. What do you think causes this? I've decided to stop wearing it for the time being since I just noticed this.

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch
      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  6 лет назад

      Movement ring spring is weak and/or missing. So when the crown / stem moves, the movement can as well.

    • @Anitropius
      @Anitropius 6 лет назад

      Is it a bad idea to wear the watch in that case?

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch
      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  6 лет назад

      Nope, unless the entire movement ring is missing, but if that were the case the whole movement would be flopping around, clicking and bonking.

      Thanks for the quick answer, glad to hear that I won't have to put away my beloved Silver Pogue then :)

    Obviously you are using special effects. At least once you have to have the spring bar become a small missile and have it shoot across the room. 😁
