When I was younger every time I listened to this song and watched the video I would start crying. I used to not understand the immense sorrow I felt. But now I do.
I am tired of always struggling. I want to live. The ending of the video is probably meant to symbolise redemption and freedom, but to me it feels like the little man struggled through so much just to die. To be crushed by the coming waves. Though even then he dies doing what he felt he needed to do, I guess. Maybe he felt content in his final moments. If so, his struggle was meaningful.
The video is so incredibly animated and directed! I listened to this song in order to better understand what he must be feeling and try to get a glimpse into his head. This has helped a lot. Thank you Flogging Molly.
This is one of the best songs about life, 66 years +. Not a "that's my life" too broad and real. I share with young and old, as a reflective insight on a walk, to a ripe old age. Awesome video. I think we can all relate to the character in this, going through life and gaining baggage that wieghs heavily on you, sometimes feeling like it's smothering you, then you see your salvation on the horizon, whatever it may be, and with every fiber in your being pushing to attain it.

READ I was in a train, on my way home from Germany, with my two sisters. Three boys were listining to this song, i thought to myself that i was gonna ask them what the name of the song was, but i was too shy. After a while one of them asked me what language we spoke. And then, we started to talk. They where some nice boys, and i got to ask them what the name of the song was. Now im thankful, because i wouldnt have listin to such a great song if it wasnt for them!
A ripe old age that’s what I am. A ripe old age just doing the best I can. I am 36 and I am finally leaving my home town to purse my dreams. I know old for someone trying to make it in the entertainment industry but I always come back to Dave King. I know he was in Fastway but he didn’t have his true break until he was 40. Gives me so much hope.
The animator(s) team for this video are exceptional! Who are they? Bravo! Need name(s). Give them a chance to shine like they did for this equally beautiful music! Capturing how his body moves hunched over while dragging dead weight behind and leaning on his fork-crutch is so beautifully animated. My favourite segment is from 2:47 to 3:10! - a slight dip of his head, so tired, I see him trying to catch his breath! The lighting & shadows for the different settings and environments are so perfect. This Person made of simple wire takes his hat, leaves his home, but soon gets more and more junk. He keeps on limping forward, collecting more debris, weighing him down. He strains to get up after stumbling and falling, the pain and the agony. And never encountering a single Other to help him up or take away some or all the crud that sticks to him like shit on a boot. He keeps moving forward, follows the Light. No matter how far away the horizon, it is his beacon.

Why did the teacher scolde him for that?
You are what is wrong with kids today. In case you are wondering, you are supppsed to be listening to the teacher or studying in class. Those are the rules. But today, there is always some snowflake parent who doesn't think teachers should be able to correct their precious little brats. I suppose if your little vermin spawn could actually pass the ASVAB and make it into the military you would "set straight" the drill instructor.
The, in class part.
Much love from Greece ☘️

I was in a train, on my way home from Germany, with my two sisters.
The clip is absolutely perfectly well matched with the song, it's incredible
Easily one of the best music videos ever.
Thank you Flogging Molly for this amazing song and video! "Float" and "Drunken Lullabies" are constant classics in Woodstock's Jukebox!
Happy to see good music isn't dead too many ppl sell out to what the fans want vs what they think is good music
flogging molly will always be one of my favorites that just hits close.
Still one of the best vid - if not the best - on the whole net. Music, lyrics and pics perfectly match.
Brilliant. Thank you Flogging Molly for being so effin' AWESOME all the time.
Credits in the video description.
@@sideonedummy still don’t see animation credit..?
@@bevgordon7619 please click on "more" and the info is in the video description just above the lyrics. thank you!
@@sideonedummy Thanks. Found them! Great collaboration! Hope you can create together again. Stop motion animation is such a work of love, considering the time involved.
aMAZING song and a marvellous video! The lyrics, the instrumentation...everything is so wonderful.
Simply amazing. Somewhere between the stunning video, the almost haunting music and the incredible vocals; I fell in love.

I hope this message reaches you and you are still walking your path.
The video encorporates the entire human experience, and I love it.
That the song is THIS good just raises the whole shebang like three levels.
I wouldn't imagine anything could be better then this song. But this video IS!
Still one of my favourite videos ever after all these years. It's perfect.

You too, Tim! Much love, buddy! 👊💪
This song just saved my life tonight.
As I'm dealing with my dad aging (my best friend) this song hits the heart
That certain program helps me a whole fucking helluva lot, but the funny thing is...is that this was a song I listened to a lot before this last time I got sober. Which was over 3 years ago now. And I didn't sink the goddamn boat. Thank Jaysus.
Ayuh, the Celtic mind is so very full of life😄
Just saw this video for the first time the other day while sitting in the Hard rock cafe in Venice! fell in love with the video straight away :) great track too
This was the one of the only songs my father listened to when he was Alcoholics Anonymous, and he said it helped him more than the actual meetings did.
This is so beautiful I get emotional every time. That bass tho!! 💗
I come back to this song a lot especially when I'm feeling down. After the worst summer of my life, it's helping me prepare to head back to school and do well another semester.
Genial job. One of the most beautiful vids of the whole net. Music, lyrics and pics each are brilliant. Big thank for the joy again and again to the creators of the movie too.
This video actually speaks to me. I can't explain why. Amazing work to whoever made this vid.
This song lately gives me so much strength, it's overwhelmingly good!
i just can't understand how someone could dislike such wonderful art.
Great band, song and video. The trifecta
