Well done! such an epic song by epic musicians, each time you revisit it you always discover something new. And what a coincidence, I struggle at the exact same parts as you do...IMO the most important thing is to get the feeling rather than play all the notes exactly as the studio recording, once you do that you can improvise and still sound perfect. That's why DP always play differently and always sound awesome.
Really good one, Nick !!! I loved learning this one back in the day, but could never find a singer who could--or wanted to--cover Gillan's part !!! Spot-on with the settings, IMHO: 3rd percussion, slow decay and normal along with the drawbars. Funny thing is I never noticed Jon setting 8787 before: I just set mine at 8887. Thanks for the insight !!!
Very nice tutorial! Just a little note: I think, and it sounds like on the original DP recording as well, that Jon Lord used 2nd harmonic percussion setting, instead of 3rd harmonic.
I agree, but it depends on the organ I find. I went back to check on some of his live work and he had different settings to the studio sound that I though he used
Hi Nick, thank you for all your tips, this is my one to you with no offence, try to begin using chords (first and fifth tones) for the left hand, one octave above.
Thanks Stefano, yes absolutely. I know Jon used that live, I think I mentioned it on the video that I don't do that in my band as the bass player covers that area well
man, do me a favor please. You have two laptops there. please put Russian subtitles. We were taught English this way - so that we wouldn’t know anything. Please, you’re not explaining children’s fairy tales! but you speak to the point.

Nick, thank you for all your work on youtube, I've always loved the band deep purple and it inspires me to try to play these songs
Cheers!
That was incredibly fantastic. Thank you so much for that in-depth piece. I loved it

Hi Nick, regarding the MIJ version (1st part) several years ago Ian Paice told me another position, certainly with percussion in 3rd..
Thank you very much Nick!
Cheers!
Right on Nick! You are one hell of a player. Thanks for the lesson.
Get your keyboard out and learn along with me!
Don’t forget the bouncing reverb spring in the middle of the performance 😂
When I play that live on the XK-5 I use a foot pedal to trigger the spring reverb effect

Excuse my curiosity, English or American C3?
English
Hi Nick, have you found a way to integrate the Roland through the Leslie? Thank you
I’ve not tried yet. My Leslie’s can take 1/4” or xlr so it’s no problem mechanically.
Bombay Calling - original theme
