ABOUT THE THREE QUESTIONS WITH ANDY RICHTER
Host Andy Richter asks the same three questions to each guest: Where do you come from? Where are you going? What have you learned? These three simple questions, when answered honestly and thoughtfully, are enough to provide a pretty complete picture of who a person is. The answers are what Andy always wants to know about people. This will not be a one-sided process, as Andy won’t shy away from getting personal himself.

Tony Hawk and his peers are the living embodiment of the sentiment that 'Civilisations are great when they plant trees in whose shade they'll never sit'. Pioneer and face of the sport, but paved the way for future generations to exceed his ability.
I put my hamster in a sock and slammed it against the furniture
@@TippyHippy it is an honour to meet you, sir.
And then Tony Hawk watched a kid flawlessly pull off a 1080 recently. That has got to feel good. Knowing you kept the sport going. Kind of how Kelly Slater reignited surfing for the general public.
It's 2012?! I'VE GOTTA WARN PEOPLE ABOUT THE FUTURE
Even crazier, it was a 1260 by Mitchie Brusco
Living legend. I remember him pulling off the 900, which blew everyone away and literally saved skateboarding. THPS is still an awesome game to this day and I hope they make more remasters.
I remember watching him land that on tv. It was exciting as a skateboarder. He was the best in the world at that moment and going forward for years to come. It really has gone a long way.. and damn I'm old
Damm.. good questions! Each follow up was exactly what was on my mind. I was like woah Andy Richter and I are in sync right now. Always impressed me how Andy can delve into specific topics with people even better than Conan, beyond general conversation or about things that may not interest him.
They're always planned out and approved by the agent before an interview.
@@MichaelLasotaWheresWaldo lmfao what? Totally untrue and even if it weren't, how would that disprove anything OP said? They'd still be good questions
Tony hawk doing the 900 for the first time was a fkn incredible moment in sports history. After that, the flood gates opened...much like when Travis pastrana started backflipping dirt bikes. But the 900 was just a great moment if you were watching live. The build up, suspense, Tony falling HARD a couple times, then triumph was incredible. I was 10 and will never forget it!
just two legends chatting with each other
Thank you for all the skateparks Master Hawk.
Just saw the video with Tony Hawk.Around ‘84 or 5 we had a neighbor ( Joey Lopes, he’s passed so I think it’s ok to mention) there would be these skateboarders that would compete . His parents roof were packed with skaters, cameraand we had bought our son a skateboard with a handle. I’m on our porch watching him and Tony Hawk walks over and spent time helping my boy. I told my boy when he got older the story. I saw that this guy wasn’t only the king but to take his time to do this, I’ve never forgotten. He’s a good man.
Andy’s awesome and he could interview anyone.
Skateboarding is one of the hardest, most evolutionary sports in the World.. Yet not enough people pay attention to its grit and dedication
Damn, Seth Myers was such a good skater
Andy is such a great host!
Great interview, both heroes
Andy is amazing
20 Years .... Of Gravity Checks, and finding it STILL WORKS! Add 20 and the "I'm Okay" bumps
...and 20 years of missing the 'Gravity Games'😅
My generation's Mr Rogers
Which one?
This guy looks so familiar. Can't place it though.
tony hawk
Nah he's just some guy
Its a shame that most young skaters only focus on street or skatepark skating that there isn't that many new and young vert stars of the future.
Is Eduardo audio engineer for all team coco podcasts or just Conan needs a friend?
I couldn't even land a 90, let alone a 900.
well 90 is just a quarter revolution so in some ways thats probably harder to land
i mean, you litterally cannot land a 90, if you could it would be almost as impressive as a 900 XD
My 9 is DOPE!
In skating we call that a tic tac. It's just to generate speed.
very good
its like how theres stairs in the sewers but no handrails. lol. and if you dont do it. youll grind your teeth dropping in on a dumpster. lol.
In diving it's called a two and a half.
Would have been nice to see him and taz shoot out for it and maybe tony would have landed first but it would have been nice to taz to at least have had the opportunity
legend
Not a chance Andy is understanding any of the Skate Slang Tony is saying
Well Andy only skates freestyle so..
it's very likely, but he's a great interviewer and asking the right questions
Andy taught Rodney Mullen how to skate
Andy taught Tony how to skate and gave him his first board. Tony named a move after Andy called, the richter sidekick.
You dont need to understand the exaxt meaning to pull off a great interview. The trick Andy is employing is asking just the right questions that some sense of the meaning comes through, without asking the wrong question and looking like a dolt. And most of that comes down to actually listening and responding to what hes saying. Many bad interviewers will have a long set of questions and not listening to the person they are interviewing and end up asking something that was already just answered.
Big Hawk
I wasn't even able to land a 90, much less a 900.
well, landing perpendicular to the landing zone would be pretty hard to land lol
Meanwhile, somewhere at the border, not being allowed to compete an australian is fuming😅
🐐
How has nobody made a McFly joke yet lol? Am I really the only old one?
“Butthead!” Lol
Did you ever do an 1880?
Is that where you secede from the Union?
ah yes, the elusive 5 turns and 8 ninths of a quarter turn. very tricky.
And HERE it it! ruclips.net/video/3pb8XFlRKsI/видео.html Great interview, Andy! I don't even skate, but thanks for the inspiration, Tony!!!
MORE ANDY LESS CONAN, THANK YOU!
Wtf?
What's more stunning than the 900 is how Andy Richter still manages to keep his job despite being an absolute blackhole of charisma (and donuts)
You answered your own question, homie. The best interviewers allow the interviewee to shine, is kinda the point.
Tony Hawk definitely didn’t do the first 900 ever, and the competition, where he landed the first 900 his team bribe, the judges not to let a skateboarder go before him who he knew was going to win the first 900 and then the judges gave him more tries on tricks then every other contestant got just so that he could land the first 900 and then They allowed the person who should’ve won the first go after Tony hawk got a bunch of extra tries, because he had already technically landed the first 900 in competition, and no one‘s going to remember the guy who has landed it a bunch of times outside of competitions, and the guy who Tony screwed over ended up, going through a lot of mental health problems and addiction partly as a result….. pretty lame
Not that Tony hawk hasn’t done a lot to progress the sport of skateboarding, just another example of how people with more money control the world, and can always keep others down
Simply put haters are going to hate, Your lies are a weak attempt to sully the name of a great skater. Unfortunately there’s people like you on the planet that ruin things and are useless.
seems pretty strange to care enough about the legacy supposedly stolen from this guy to post this on RUclips, but not enough to include his name.
taz did not land the 900 till like 10 years after 1999 x games
also tony did not win the best trick competition, tony landed it after time
Love how Andy is yet again piggybacking on Conan's success. He gets all the B-listers. Go, Andy, Go!
Don’t you ever call Tony Hawk a b lister
Since when is Tony a B-lister?
Tony Hawk that is basically a billionaire now is a b-lister😂
What a saddening comment.
He gets some big guests. Jack Black, Bill Hader, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianikas, Patton Oswalt, Judd Apatow, Jimmy Kimmel, Cecily Strong, Nick Offerman, Jane Lynch, Conan O'Brian, Ike Barinholtz, Natasha Lyonne, Abby Jacobsen.... to name a few.....
Yeah we know this stuff hes talked about it for 40 years.
Get a life
he did the 900 40 years ago? 😮
Yet here you are.
