Rewatching these scenes and I swear it is actually funnier than ever, and that’s saying something. Anthony Michael Hall is comic gold in this film. His gestures, expressions, all gold.
Yup, rewatching it as an adult, this scene is far more funnier than I can remember. Back then I didn't get what "tossing off to magazines" meant. It just went way over my head. LOL!!
I love how instead of reassuring the parents that nothing bad is actually going to happen, she goes the other way and pushes their weak spots and greatest fears beyond imagination to the point that it's just hilarious.

Stanley Kubrick once told Anthony Michael Hall he was his favorite actor since seeing Jack Nicholson in “Easy Rider” (1968) after seeing him in “Sixteen Candles” (1984). His facial acting here - throughout this entire movie, really - is amazing and hilarious.

So in like 93’ when I was seven my grandparents got me one of those 13” TVs with a VCR. Being cheap.. she grabbed a few movies from the bargain bin. Weird Science and Revenge of the Nerds. I must have watched them 200 times. Til I graduated high school I was convinced I was going to be a comedian or rock star lol. The comedy and love for it came from these old movies I’d sit and watch alone when I was scared tho. Weird how that works. Comedy was an escape.. still is. Laughter is one of the best things we got as humans.
This movie is an overlooked classic. Still one of my favotite movies, bill Paxton was amazing in this. The moms "ohhhhhh garyyyy" when she told the he pulls his pud in the bathroom😂😂😂
Not for me. There was. A show called Throb or Heartthrob that had a character named Blue, that was from The End (IIRC). I was a little kid but boy, was I agog. Some time after that, she played the maid, in Fraiser. She was also always chased around, by Benny Hill.

1:36 🤣👍🏽 Movie is hilarious, and I reckon quite deep in terms of kids who are good learning to (non-violently) *assert themselves* and *come out of their shell* (not just towards their over-bearing parents but others too), and thereby actually Enjoy their childhoods.
So many priceless moments and lines in this movie. The entire concept is insane on its face, and yet you almost feel like it *could* happen, such is the quality of the acting and script. You couldn't film a movie like this in 2022 - too much political correctness. I'm glad our sensibilities weren't so easily tweaked in the 1980s and that we had a cast who each did their roles to perfection. Whenever I am bored or lonely I head to Gary and Wyatt's soiree for an evening of blue kitchens and Chet encounters.
