I hope future uploads are in HD or 4K since RUclips compresses a lot. It doesn't look as stunning as it could at 480p. But thank you for uploading, Stan!
Kristofer Kate “Kid” Friction. He is a little Green Man who wreaks havoc on the Railroad by locking up Friction Bearings and causing Hot Boxes. Even today, in the age of Roller Bearings, Kid Friction still can find a way to cause trouble. For example, there could be a bit of damage in the roller bearing itself. Whatever the case Kid Friction will find a way to cause a Hot Box. The East Palestine Derailment was caused by a Hot Box, even though the freight car utilized roller bearings. The HotBox detector wasn’t working, and so there was no way to prevent what happened. Kid Friction, though the time of his prime is long gone, he still has ways of causing major trouble, and with PSR prioritizing Money over Safety, Kid Friction still has a slight hold on the Railroad.
That's because it is, it's supposed to advertise Timkins Roller Bearings for freight cars. I would imagine it was made specifically for freight companies and rich investors. This is actually one of the few advertisements imo that lays out exactly what it's selling by showing that roller bearings are very much more reliable than regular axles. Roller bearings eventually phased out standard axles on trains, so this has some historical significance by being among the first to do so.
I love this film cuz it kinda gives so many details
I love this cartoon and Big Tim.
So do I because of The Railways of Crotoonia.
5:13 Big Tim is pulling a train with smoke coming out of the boxcar’s wheel bearing if He pulls the trucks along or He will break down.
5:13 big Tim: cinders and ashes I better stop eeeeeeergh
3:04 - I bet with that grin, Mr. Kelly was thinking, “Hmmm, maybe this is a good way to get back at him for bumping into my caboose.”
5:19
Didn’t work maybe

Voice of Big Tim is Stan Freberg. I do wonder if he done the other voices here or
Followed by Milan Prsa.
5:01 Big Tim will broke down
Big tim is like a emd f7
More like the UP GTEL gen 1
Note how you can hear the “Win the war!” choir at 7:56
Faster, Big Tim! FASTER!
Did they actually show this to railroads to convince them to buy roller bearings?
To make special trains faster
The long and short answer, yes.
I'd be convinced, being unemployed, I still am
5:19 Slide whistle sound effect is from 1965 Goofy cartoon Freewayphobia and Goofy's Freeway Troubles.
This animation showed the roler axel, a way to not have all that friction.

It's a very good remaster, though I can hear some audio hiccups. Is it possible that you might fix that in the near future?
Powerful but easy smooth so not to shake up any goods then crashes the train 30 seconds later
This looks so much like some kind of commercial.

I may not know much about the roller bearings themselves aside from this video, but are they, like, out of date by today’s standards?
Most likely.
