Thank you, when I was a child I was a student of one of your ballerinas in another country far away from Russia. Her name was Madame Kitty Bodenhein if memory does not fail me. We practice in a studio with lovely wooden floors and a grand piano, Tchaikovsky was always played by the pianist and not a day went by without her mentioning the Bolshoi Academy. She was an excellent and very strict classical ballet teacher but, nevertheless, her classes were some of my best childhood memories. I always wanted to see where she was trained and for this opportunity, I thank you and the internet.
How beautiful is your testmony! You wrote it with heart and I almost can visualize the classroom with wooden floor and piano playing Tchaikovsky for the unforgetable teacher you had.
I am playing a game called Mario is Missing from 1993 Super Nintendo and it brought me here. I have to get back to finding a missing ballet slipper for $1500 now and I will watch this later.
Does anyone know the name of a documentary that was produced in the 80s about little girls entering the russian ballet? It was shown to me sometime between 1989-1994 I believe.
At 5:30, the English narrator said "we have the Bible and talmud to rely on". Was that an accurate translation? I thought that Russia was a Christian country. Was I wrong?
Насколько же ученики Московской Академии уступают студентам Вагановской Академии по всем параметрам: даже физическим. При Леоновой Академия превратилась просто в хореографический кружок при городском ДК.
Such self-laudatory statements! And yet, Ksenia Ryzhkova has never danced at the Bolshoi, and instead worked at the Stanislavsky right out of ballet school. Then she went to the Bayerisches Staatsballet and Ballet Zurich after that, and then went back to the BS again. Why not the Bolshoi??
Gosh I couldn't watch this through, it's only ballet propaganda. The kind of nonsense that's an advertisement (if not propaganda) rather than a documentary.
I've experience in the ballet world. I hoped for an objective and/or informative and/or artistically stimulating documentary about a ballet company. This was none of those things. I left the comment as a fair warning to others.
The Russian Bolshoi performances should be canceled because of these performances in blackface. It is degrading to African Americans and American citizens.
Nonsense. These are performances with great tradition and should be watched as such. Nothing to do with today’s sensitivities. Russians are very particular in preserving traditional performances.
What nonsense, this performance has been staged in a Bolshoy one for 100 years and it has always been that way. Or do the Russians urgently need to find a dozen dark-skinned ballerinas for their performances? Well then it won't be Bolshoy.
Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way...

Wow Marina Leonova still looks stunning :D
Its really true ballet keeps body/mind young , my own teacher is 72y and still moves like a 20y old :)
Are there any english documentaries about Nicolai Tsiskaridze? I'd love to know more about this amazing artist and teacher. Thanks
He seems like such an interesting and larger than life figure!
Да, Николай обворожительный артист! Но фильмы, вроде, только на русском языке. 🤔

Please elaborate how did this come to pass lol

You may be thinking of the "Dance of the Little Swans". There is also an older doc called "The Children of Theater Street".
ruclips.net/video/RRV_opHbxcE/видео.html This one I believe.
#nice
thanks
I would love to see where these young dancers are now (:
Do you think they ever found clothes?
#wow
Nice Video! where is this video from?
The translation is so poor..
At 5:30, the English narrator said "we have the Bible and talmud to rely on". Was that an accurate translation? I thought that Russia was a Christian country. Was I wrong?
I don’t think so. I think it is referencing their teaching manual as a ‘bible’ or ‘Talmud’.

Поэтому большой сейчас сильно уступает Мариинскому театру, от большого одно название гордое осталось и флёр популярности, какой театр такая и академия

This is a documentary film for the Russian viewer, filmed by Russian television, what does the propaganda have to do with it?
What did you expect. It’s a documentary about the bolshoi ballet. Off course it’s just about a ballet company tell me what did you expect

@Adaneth but did they do that though
@kamenpower but did they do black face though
yes yes crush the dreams of these little kids because you got offended
