My Hilo is tiny and doesn't want to grow bigger than 6 inches, it has 5-6 leaves, but I only have to take my eyes off of it for a second and it starts loosing its leaves. I want it to thrive so bad, but it makes me depressed for a year already.

Have one and leaves are tall and droopy whether watered or not. Can they support themselves or do they typically need to be staked?

It sounds like it needs a good watering. When Alocasias are thirsty, their leaves droop. If you’ve already been watering them and they’re still droopy, you may need to repot
