Great video my friend. Iam dreaming of this baby from the moment it was released. Hope to have it someday for the test. Big salute from Slovenia, Pilot Robert
This is the kind of modding that gets the mouth watering. Weathering and updating the look is what it's all about! It looks really great, good job! But sorry did you hear the sound of that thing in flight? Wow I love this model 👌🏴
Nice job on the weathering and landing gear mod. You have way more energy than I have. I'm too damn lazy, I just fly them like they come out of the box.
Very nice model, great silhouette and lovely weathering. I like what you have done to the main gear - they always get FW 190 gear wrong - even Sierra Giant don't do it properly. It would really finish it off if you could tuck that tailwheel up... quite a challenge, but a lot of the late war planes don't quite have realism in flight because of the tail wheels.
Thank you! I hear you on the tail wheel, that would be pretty cool. Really tough to do at this size when it’s already built. At least it’s the right size and shape.
One of the best flying warbirds in this class that i own (and i own quite a lot, some would say too many 😎😎). Flies like it's on rails with perfect speed. I initially bought the "sport power setup" with the 2 blade prop + spinner and the higher KV motor but never installed that because the standard config has more than enough power (and looks better with the scale 3 blade scale prop). It's amazing to see this bird accelerating when you push the throttle to max from a cruising speed 😁😁 I just wish that they would release a D9 because I like that version even more.
Some very nice customization of your 190. Great result. I would like to ask a couple of questions if I may. With your retract modification - it seems the plywood shim you added is blocking the retract from going fully open. Does this seem to cause the unit to have any strain - like it is trying to fight itself? And 2: I bought this recently. I noticed while flying that the lateral stability is not what I might have wanted. The ailerons seem fairly well positioned in line with the other wing structure when I trimmed it out. But it tries to slowly drop one wing, and then drop the other. Flying straight and level seems to require constant nudges to correct and lift the low wing again. Do you perhaps have any thoughts or ideas as to why? The only thing I have thought of so far was to perhaps change the aileron linkage so that both of them are being held 'up' a wee bit more than their present straight back position. I don't know if this might act just a bit like a wing with more effective dihedral or not. ? Thank you - Roger Holland.
You’re correct, the shim stops the gear just short of full retraction. Theres no strain as they have a current cutoff which shuts the motor off. On the ailerons, it sounds like they may be double centering. Check to see if they aren’t returning to their exact same position on the ground. If there’s binding happening, it can cause the double centering. You may need to put some better servos in there to fully resolve it.
I re flew mine 3 days ago, green 4 with lime green spinner white spiral and moved the lipo back a 1/4 in and this stopped the plane wanting to rotate up on its nose issue completely ,completely normal operations. flies like a pattern plane, the parkzone fw190a wheels look nice. i use the parkzone p47 install reversed sided and look very scale . will 3d print a max gruder bf109 pilot from 3d trader to fit after scaling it . working on a second one as green 9 with the red spinner. stab JG 301 Willi Reschke wn 150168
just subscribed. Fantastic review ! Do you think the canopy is, and will stay clear enough for an internal HD FPV camera placement on a pan/tilt/lean gimbal ?
Takeoffs I found were quite user friendly actually, I expected far worse. You do have to be a bit active on the rudder and elevator, but that’s pretty typical.
I like what you did w/gear. I looks small to be a 1300mm plane compared to a 1100mm FW190. But I still have not flown mine yet. Just fly my Dynam planes now.👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Figures... I was just getting good at “weathering” the old fashioned way. (Banging then around in the truck, brushes with tree branches, and landings that resemble cartwheels) But if you think this is a way to weather and in some weird way might lengthen the life of the plane, I’ll try it on the new Me-262. Looks like a lot of work when I can weather and age a plane in under 4 minutes....
Chris, another great video. Quick question: When you bent the axle to make the wheels orient vertically (like the real one)...did you actually bend the axle itself or the lower part of the strut?
@@Thercgeek got it. I tried bending just the axle on one of the retracts and couldn't get it to bend. I may try taking the strut out altogether so I can get better lwverage on it.
Hello, how were you able to not pull off the factory paint when masking with frog tape? I figure it would peel the thin factory paint right off when you pull the frog tape off.
I’ve had very good success with frog tape. I’ll typically place the tape on my shirt first before placing it on the model and then peel it back over itself when lifting it up. Works great!
If you have some tail wheel experience you should be fine. The hardest part in flying the model is the takeoff, so just requires smooth throttle control and avoiding lifting off the airplane too soon. Otherwise, it’s a pretty cool flyer.
Great looking paint job Chris! I've admired this one for a long time, I have the 800mm mustang and love it, FL makes a good plane. Question- do you think It could do well with a 4S 5,000 mah? Looks like there is a little room to go aft in the fuselage.
Where did you purchase the control throw gauge? All of your planes always seem to look great, but I have been most envious of that gauge for a while now! I must get one!
Usually, if you can get a fingernail underneath one of the edges and start lifting it, it’ll start to pull away from the fuselage. That’s how I go about it. If you get a tool in there, that’s when you run the risk of damaging the surrounding areas on the fuse.
GREAT REVIEW. Not sure if you're familiar with DCS, the best aerial combat gaming system out there, but here is this magnificent warbird in action in a stunningly real simulated environment. Thanks man! She’s a cool little model. I hope you’re able to get one. 😊
I just bought one, following your build. I ordered a AR630+ DSMX 6 Chan AS3X+ Safe for the receiver. Only 8 left now.

Nice job on the weathering and landing gear mod. You have way more energy than I have. I'm too damn lazy, I just fly them like they come out of the box.
Thanks! For me, it really depends on the airplane. Some I want spend the extra time, others not so much. 😊

Great work. Nice that you went to all the effort to replicate "Green 9". Did you forget the tail markings?
Great review. The additional paint/weathering looks awesome 👍
Thank you!
You’re a monster! didn’t think I was about to watch the whole video
I’m not sure how to take that. 😆
@@Thercgeek I thought the mods were awesome, wasn’t expecting the final product to bring me right back into ‘war thunder’.

Thanks! Fpv would be pretty rad in this. I feel like the canopy is clear enough, but I don’t really have any experience with that.
Looks easy to take off with your gear modifications. It doesn't do that annoying hard left.

Yeah, it’s not a real big model, but it does look cool. The wingspan is long, so that’s kind of deceiving.

Chris, another great video. Quick question: When you bent the axle to make the wheels orient vertically (like the real one)...did you actually bend the axle itself or the lower part of the strut?
They struts are wire, so I bent the axle portion to get the correct wheel angle.

Thanks! Imo, the quality of this one is quite a bit better than the dynam.
@@Thercgeek OK, do you think this is worth getting as a first warbird as in is it easy to fly, as if not I might get a bush plane
I have had only bit of experience with RC planes

Honestly, I’m not certain a 5000 would fit very well. That’s a pretty large pack for this airplane.

Great Planes incidence meter, found it!
Throw meter.
Yeah, it’s called an accuthrow meter from great planes. My understanding is that it’s been discontinued. So that’s awesome if you found one!
Wunderschön lackiert 👍👍👍👍👍
When you use Windex, does it matter If it has ammonia I it?
Good question. I don’t believe the windex that I use for that stuff has ammonia in it.
Harry potter fan? love it haha. Nice vid there Chris
Thanks! 😊
Can you remove the canopy without damaging the fuselage?

Old school rotary, nice!

How much torque is on the plane on take offs
It’s pretty manageable on this airplane as the rudder remains pretty effective through the full speed range on takeoff.

can you fly bind this plane to nx8 transmitter
This one comes without a receiver in it, so can use any type of radio system with it.
