    Absolutely jawdropping! Of course the orca are doing what they must to survive, and yet you can't help but feel empathy both for the humpbacks (and for the seal, of course). I've seen the videos of orca killing humpback calfs and fully-grown whales. And also basically tormenting and playing with prey only to leave it fatally wounded to drift to the bottom. They are much more like human in their seeming capacity for both playfulness and cruelty. Which probably also explains why they just swam straight towards to humpbacks to show off their catch. Is that anything other than taunting?

    • @mehere8038
      @mehere8038 Год назад

      yes it could easily be something other than taunting. I do this with my rescue birds all the time, they freak out over towels, so I will use it on myself & show them it's for ME, I'm not using it to catch them, so as to calm them. Orcas could easily be doing it specifically to communicate to them that the hunt is not for their babies & so they can relax & back off on this day at least

    I think if the whales were trying to organize anything and tease the orcas, there would be much more vocals and motion.
    Frans de Waal once said, if an animal looks relaxed, probably it's because it is relaxed.
    If what was happened was really what you say was happening, I imagine everybody involved would have been much more stressed

    I think it was more of a curiosity than distraction. With the warming oceans and magnetic fields changing, we can't predict the outcomes of life on earth. Nothing has ever been stable, and nothing is ever truly known.
