This is why the Odyssey is way better than the Constitution III, because it is way more accessible as it is in the C-Store rather than having to gamble
Love a video where you deep dive into the best stuff (or coolest or weirdest) in the infinity promo boxes. Since all are exchange available, video can work for F2P and whales 🙂
I remember that when you finish the mission where you play as the USS Enterprise ncc1701C Ambassador class starship after you play the mission which is the continuation of the episode of TNG yesterday's Enterprise with. You get a ambassador class starship, albeit without the special starship traits that the Enterprise C had. It came in a box per character cause you finish the mission.
One final ship. the T6 M'Chla Bird-of-Prey Refit awarded during the Klingon Recruitment (recurring event) - and by developing a Klingon to Level 65 you unlock Cross Faction Flying and can reclaim on any character. Another important thing, T6-X upgrades apply to the ship on all characters, but only to that version, upgrades to a store ship DO NOT apply to the Fleet version, but if you purchase the Fleet version on more than one character, upgrading it still counts on all characters that have it or get it later. Finally, if you completed the previous event that awarded an Epic Phoenix token, that is reclaimable on all your existing and new characters
For those unaware, I want to give a little more context as to how stark the difference is between opening up R&D packs versus selling them on the Exchange to get the ship you want (and it gives me an excuse to talk about my Sagan again 😄): Given several tests that have been done by players over the years, the average drop rate of promo ships from the R&D packs is 1.1% (or 1/90). At about $2-3 per pack you'd be spending $180-270 to have the most likely chance of pulling a Promo ship from the pack with minimum cost. However, it's absurdly easy to open 200+ boxes and get no Promo ships, so while the dollar amount can be as little as $20-30 if you're really lucky, it could be closer to $400-500 if you're not. In contrast, when I got my daily driver in the Sagan Command Cruiser, I brought the packs and sold them for EC and only needed 48 of them to get enough EC to buy it off the exchange at 1.5 billion, amounting to less than $100 if the packs are on sale. That $100 guaranteed me the ship I wanted whereas opening $200-$300 worth of boxes could've amounted to nothing. You have to be strategic about it and plan, but it's much more worth it in the long run. Now in the same breath, I do have to acknowledge that the reason the economics are like this is because there are many whales who are willing to spend hundreds or even thousands gambling in STO, making it unintentionally easier for those who don't want to. This puts this in the realm of being morally questionable and complicated, especially when some of the ships recently have been from shows aimed at younger audiences (I'm looking at you, Protostar, Daunteless II, and Lamarr). But much of that is the fault of Cryptic/DECA and their insidious business model, so as long as enough whales choose to put money into the game, they'll be incentivized to keep this system running unfortunately. Additionally, finding a Promo ship on the Exchange specifically can be a matter of luck too since they often sell in private channels instead so that sellers can get over the 1.5 billion EC cap that the Exchange has. In my case though, I was fortunate and found two of them on the Exchange - it helps that the Sagan isn't as sought after as the Connie III. Either which way, I wanted to break that down so people knew the practicalities of the R&D packs and how to get the most out of what you want. Is opening boxes and packs fun occassionally? Totally, but it shouldn't become a habit when there are much smarter ways to get what you want, even if it takes some time and planning. LLAP everyone! 🖖
Almost 400 hrs and I've never gotten a ship from a prize or lockbox 😂 the only T6 ships i have are from getting to lvl 65 on a couple characters. I did get the Nagus ship which is a pretty cool gift!
I got a Suliban Cell Ship from an infinity lock box. It has 2 weapon slots up front and 1 aft. I was going to discard it until I went to the bridge. It has access to the exchange and my personal bank. It also has a commodities broker and a trader commendation "department head". Guess I'll keep it to level up that toon's trade, then who knows.
LOl lockboxes! i have a stash of over 1000 infinity ones ...BUT also have some of the older ones like the borg, ferengi etc ..I have started to pop the older ones as in borg etc into my fleet bank if anyone wants them (as a much better chance of getting stuff you want from them as its obv just whats in those specific packs than the infinty boxes!) BUT as they are older ones ( the ferengi lock box goes way back to 2012) i may see if they sell on the exchange or not ? If i may ask you Stu whats your advice on the older lockboxes should pop them on the exchange , dump them or as i have been doing offering them up in the fleet bank for fellow fleet members to grab 1st .....i know with the borg boxes i put in the fleet bank some of my fellow fleet members got the boxy borg ship (the original one offered from TNG) from them in drops ( plus the ground asimilator is a pretty good thing to get out of that box too it is the borg kit moduel asimliate when doing ground missions you can borgify your opponets that will help you etc ? ALSO i MUST SAY a BIG THANK YOU for posting the links to all the diffrerent lists of lockbox, promo ships etc as that has been helpful to me as i have a token from last year and this years event as well as the free token for a lobi ship that they have done but not used them yet! (think im stocking up on them TILL I FIND A SHIP I WANT in the list and yes i know you can only get what was avaiable at the time with the event tokens..im just undecided yet as what to get so saving them at the moment) 😉 I much like yourself have been playing since launch for 15 yrs , i'm a lifteme player etc and have over 20 alts in game ( most attached to my fleet or the atached armardas!) The yearly event capmiagne as of this year is longer BUT if you compleate each one and still continue doing it for the dill it actualy counts towards the event ( as in it bumps up your marks towards it EVEN though they dont tell you this (i dont think officaily but i may be wrong) and it dont show unless you keep an eye on your progress on it in the events tab for the yearly one continuing to play the yearly event things just to get the dill each day after you have comleted the event boosts your event progress!) so you CAN TECHNCALY compleate the yearly event early ...as i have done this year i have already claimed the reward for this years event! *just a tip for new players or folks that do the yearly event so it won't take as long and dont have to do all 5 yearly events if you keep on with the earlier ones ! 😉 Sorry for my long winded comment by the way Stu! 😉
while i like the idea of mudds market , i dont like the monetization of it i feel its way over board MTX cuz there is nothing micro about the the transaction
I usually stay away from Temporal ships, I don't really know how to use them. I look at the descriptions and they talk about configurations and I have no idea what that all means.
@@SonicSlicer it's just three buttons. Like cruiser commands. You pick one. Attack, def or support. It gives you a bonus and a minus. You then build charges as you fight. When the charges are full you have a clicky to shoot a beam. The beam uses up your charges and gives you a benefit based on the charges. So attack charges make the beam do more damage. Defense makes it heal you more. That's all there is too it really.
@@MachineCode0 So, the configurations are like the four icons at the bottom of the screen for Weapons, Shields, Engines and Auxillary in a manner of speaking?
last t5 event ship I got was the year 4 anniversary ship, the dyson sci-destroyer..... next year I think was the t6 koboli samasar.... next iirc was the kremin science ship.... next year was either the bajoran interceptor or the ... lukari thing....

Are you out of ship slots?

I'm pretty sure that you can't sell the "100% Off" coupons on the exchange .
Shit, you're right. The ones you buy from the C-store can be traded, but not put on the exchange. That's my bad.
Excited for the new series of lower decks?
Yes, but also simultaneously devastated that it's the final season.
