That’s the true PSX experience.

Lilith really went far and beyond for this. Also even with Elden Ring around the corner, I'm so starved for new Bloodborne that the rearranged elements in this guaranteed me glued to it. The remade music has such an amazing quality to it, that's the bit that takes this beyond for me because they could have so easily have just taken the original games' music and just made it lower quality, but instead it was remade it with PS1 style sounds which is just incredible. Especially certain original compositions made just for this. Obviously the areas had to be made a bit smaller and more segmented in order to remain authentic to the PS1 look and feel, but along with the original areas, and re-arranged streets it just makes Yharnam seem even more maze like and cavernous in a sort of otherworldly way, like a Victorian gothic labyrinth and I love that so much. Imagine this being your first introduction to this game. Falling in love with it and then playing the original. Between this amazing project and popular tubers playing classic titles due to games passes or retro library add-ons we are now literally mass producing nostalgia at this point and I'm all for it.
I really would like to see the developer make an original Souls-like game after seeing how well made this was (this was only a 13 month period, imagine what a 2 year period would look like!) Especially in the PS1 style, it just speaks to me lol. That way we can pay her for hard work she put into it.
this demake is absolutely amazing. It even gives me the strange thoughts of what ifs. Like what if bloodborne actually was a game that came out way back on the PSX and the original was actually the remake. The game just genuinely gives me those old psx gaming feels.

i saw my favorite french youtuber play this yesterday on twitch and i unstantly thought of max since i knew it’s his all time favorite game and wanted to see his reaction so bad.
Think of how ironic it is that there’s enough enthusiasm for this game that a friggin DEMAKE is made before we even have a PC port or even 60fps patch on PS5.
This demake is ridiculous! I cant believe how much effort must have gone into this haha It reminds me a lot of silent hill on psx in terms of the graphics and effects. also Max did you see that the RE HD project got released yesterday too? :D I feel like all my birthdays have come at once haha
This was one of the first games I ever played on PS1 back in 1996, along with Tomb Raider and Resident Evil. Kudos for bringing it back, but shame couldn’t also reprint the original’s 40-page player’s instruction manual that explained the game systems and lore, with detailed illustrations of all the gear, enemies and their stories!
Yeah I remember the manuals, really well done at the time. Unfortunatly they are pretty hard to come by these days Im afraid. Mine is gone :( . But still got my Hunters Axe Replica ~8 cm in folder, nicely aside the disc in original '96 box. I think Europe got the Axe in the first 50 releases, US the Cleaver and Japan the Cane. I remember I wanted the Cleaver so bad haha :(
Sony should cut a deal to digitally publish this game on PlayStation. They literally have nothing to lose, everyone already loves this game and they own the rights to it. It'd be a win-win.
Sony would have totally C&D'd Lilith if they had the good will to shrug off the backlash. They're such bitches they'll just act like this doesn't exist.
I want more new games to look like PS1 and PS2 games. In particular, I want that 00’s style cel-shading back. That stuff is weirdly timeless/out of time, despite having a distinct visual identity. We’ve come so far with graphics, I don’t think every game should be pushing the envelope anymore, some of them should just go backward. 2D and sprite based stuff has made a welcome return thanks to indie devs, I think PS1 type polygonal stuff is a logical next step. Some are even already doing it with small horror games, but I want more.
The CRT filters would be much more tolerable if they boosted the brightness, saturation, and contrast to compensate. Games of that era were developed with those displays in mind and were still visually vibrant.
Lending even more to the idea that Nightmare Creatures is just the PS1's Bloodborne, because the demake just looks like NC. It's awesome, I love every moment.
The funny thing is. To all these kids who missed out in the golden PS1 era this must look unbearable and impossible to play. And I understand. If you born after the video game beginnings its too hard to settle. For gamers from the 90s this looks incredibly nostalgic and lovely.
Kinda feel bad for the kids or young adults nowadays that didn’t grow up with the evolution of gaming and didn’t get to experience the PS1 - N64 and arcade days. It’s such a different level of appreciation of gaming that we have being able to see and experience the growth over the years and also being able to enjoy graphics/games like this still.
i grew up in the PS2 era, so graphics were starting to look really good, but even i don’t wish kids grew up with those graphics, todays technology is 100x better than 15+ years ago. if anything, i envy today’s kids, they literally already have advanced technology at their hands.
@@KingJadInfiniteHope yeah I’m sure kids nowadays could care less cause graphics are amazing now lol but we also get to play those as well so I’m just saying it’s a different kind of appreciation for gaming now cause I grew up with these much less graphically inclined games. It was cool growing up in that era to see how games have evolved over the years. But yeah kids nowadays are growing up with VR and shit and b able to see how crazy it will get from here on out.
@@KingJadInfiniteHope I dont think you understand what I meant. advanced technology is relative. in 50 years anything which is state of the art and high end now will look primitive then. Interesting, I never heard anyone envy kids of today if it comes to gaming. the difference is gamers from the first generation of video games witnessed and played it all. experiencing the entire history of gaming, its industry, its changes, its breakthrough tech and every masterpiece along the way. still playing to this day. I cant imagine playing FF7 Remake without ever having played the original. Its practically a love letter for fans. Im so grateful I was there for games when they released like street fighter 2, half life, ocarina of time, star fox and doom. and of course, Im grateful that I still play the new titles coming out now. but the industry has changed. its much more formulaic and uniform now, less original and less creative. but thankfully still gems coming out here and there. there is still fun games. but like maximillian who also knows the PS1 era very well this type of demake puts a smile on my face. not because the graphics look simple, but because I remember the amazing games we played in that time. max is a good example. he plays mvc2 and other classic fighting games some kids nowadays wouldnt be able to stomach. his knowledge, his passion of video gaming that made his channel all coming from his experience with video games since the 90s. I can relate. And thats why I could never envy kids today. We all play now still. They missed out on incredible classics that are impossible to go back to if you born in the recent gen. but hey, thats just me. Im having a blast watching this and it brings all sorts of fond memories of that era.
@@travixo I think what many forgot or dont realize is that every past gen looked the best for their time, isnt that right? nobody thought that the graphics were bad in the 90s. I remember seeing Mario 64 and thinking he looked alive. Goldeneye looked like real life. FF8 FMV cutscenes absolutely blew my mind. Maybe its just me but I feel blessed because we experienced everything from 8bit then 16bit to the age of 3D animation. from sprites to polygons. but most importantly I feel so lucky that I could play the most important milestone video games of each generation as a kid. metal gear solid, donkey kong country, super mario world, f-zero, quake 3 arena, system shock 2, starcraft, a link to the past, half-life. I love games now as well. less intriguing and less creative but theres great games now too. but I feel these breakthrough and trail blazers are done. what we will see now is the VR and metaverse gaming begin. so we should feel grateful we were there from the start and have all those rich experiences and memories of historical gaming culture. and like you said, its such a different level of appreciation. it goes hand in hand with the analog to digital transition. back then you couldnt google anything, you had to pay using the internet in minutes and couldnt whip out a smartphone to look for a walkthrough. if you were stuck you were stuck. had to talk to your friends in school. word of mouth, rumors, grapevine. but it was a different experience. before gaming was mainstream. gaming was an adventure not a time killer. remember playing a single player game like metal gear solid or resident evil offline, locally with your friend on the coach, taking turns with one controller. something unthinkable for young gamers today. or LAN parties before online gaming was big and easy accessible. sleepovers and junk food. playing a horror game with a friend and shit our pants. or play an adventure game and try to figure out the puzzles together. no toxic stuff, no rivalry just experiencing the game together. and of course playing these games alone and completely diving in losing ourselves in this world, becoming the characters and feel the story deep in our hearts. its true that we just grew up and as kids had more imagination. but its also true that games nowadays trend way more towards visuals and cinematic feel than uniqueness and gameplay. Ill never forget when I played half life and saw a face hugger jump in my face, played ocarina of time and the feeling when I learned the first song zeldas lullaby or when I first jumped into starcraft’s battlenet and realized I can play against real people in real time while chatting with them haha and everyone was friendly. a time before hate messages, teabagging and ddossing. when we just had fun and enjoyed video games for fun. you gotta tell me some of your experiences too. sorry I got carried away. Im always excited when I meet someone from the good old days of gaming. gaming now is great too and the young kids now will experience some crazy and amazing leaps in the metaverse. but I would never want to trade places. 30 years of games is better than having only played 10 years of games.

I had the biggest smile on my face as you were playing this. What an experience!
this demake is absolutely amazing. It even gives me the strange thoughts of what ifs. Like what if bloodborne actually was a game that came out way back on the PSX and the original was actually the remake. The game just genuinely gives me those old psx gaming feels.
this actually reminds me a lot of the early days of the ps2 when you used to get a ps1 and a ps2 version of a game.
and they used to be drastically different haha
Finally i was waiting for this lets goooo
Funny how a Demake seems better than triple A titles released now and days. Absolutely crazy

Dood berates the chat for guiding him to a locked door.
Chat: "You've got the sewer key!"
Dood berates the chat for reminding him he already has the key.
You're missing the best part. When he finally gets back there and then realizes the locked door is just a 'faster' way back that had instead cost him a bunch more time than if he'd never been told about it and just backtracked :P
This looks amazing. I would definitely play through this version!
Max, I just finished Dark Souls 3 for the first time in preparation of Elden Ring and I was hoping to see your playthrough like with the Lore Run of Bloodborne...I was really excited to see you raging and killing everyone because of all the souls content creators, you are always fighting everything you see and its so much fun man. :(
Nightmare Creatures 3: Bloodborne
Amazing how these de makes went from videos showing how new games would look to fully playable.
Big nostalgia. 💜
If Bloodborne actually released like this on PS1 and then the bloodborne we got on PS4 was a “remaster” that’d be something haha.
I would prefer a remake
"Shit remaster, it's missing the rain effects and foregoes the actual final boss, Gilbert, The Outsider for some alien shit and a lot of bloat!"
@@RokkieSparrow Ah that’s what I actually meant. I forget to differentiate the two lol
@@GoB1996 yes yes
1:44:36 that could have been the most epic falling attack!
i was just playing a little bit of last night, I love how the entire game is formated to be like a ps1 game. no analog sticks, equipping and changing your weapon style through the menu. the soundbits and the music too.
if this were like a real Playstaion game he wouldnt have died to that fall from when the Cleric Beats launched him into space. lol.
The equivalent exchange is that the 20 FPS would have made that fight a nightmare.
Oh wow, I’m currently in the process of watching your Bloodborne Lore Run over the last week or so lol I’ll add this to my list!
the developer should put this gem on their resume, this project is a portfolio on it's own.
If this really came out for PS1 back in the day, it would be the greatest game of all time. Gaming really came far
I’m glad this is getting attention from people :)
Developers so hung up on high fidelity, art style wins everytime🥰
I love stuff like this.
Max: "How do I do things?"
Tutorial Skeleton: "Am I a joke to you?"
1:44:35 - 1:45:32: I really needed that laugh today. Thank you.
Guess even in a PS1-Styled fan demake, gravity is STILL a Soulsborne player's worst enemy.
That, and very rude "you died" messages...
T pose plunge attack should've killed it instantly.
i saw my favorite french youtuber play this yesterday on twitch and i unstantly thought of max since i knew it’s his all time favorite game and wanted to see his reaction so bad.
YOU ARE THE BEST MAX
Think of how ironic it is that there’s enough enthusiasm for this game that a friggin DEMAKE is made before we even have a PC port or even 60fps patch on PS5.
I'm definitely going to check this out. I love demakes.
This demake is ridiculous! I cant believe how much effort must have gone into this haha
It reminds me a lot of silent hill on psx in terms of the graphics and effects.
also Max did you see that the RE HD project got released yesterday too? :D
I feel like all my birthdays have come at once haha
I remember I wanted the Cleaver so bad haha :(
You just know that if this was for real, that soundtrack would be a true classic
the vcr setting is scarily accurate on how some of us played old Killer Instinct
I had a tiny little black and white TV growing up. Some of those filters hit close to my childhood, lol.
I can't get over the SFX. The chunky hit sounds and screams!
i can clearly tell max enjoyed this toooooooooooooooo much.
We did it boys...we finally have Bloodborne on PC.
More Bloodborne on the channel is always welcome 😍
I love that they added the cut content double barrel shotgun.
Max slowly seeing that the dev took some creative liberties with this project for the area layouts.
The thing i hope for, is that now that they have this done, they could use this engine to build a whole ass new indie game.
everyone has been asking a bloodborne 60fps but we instead got a 20fps demake. lmao great stuff!
7:26 if I saw that shit as a kid at 4am I would scream like I was about to die
Had a blast wachting this on stream. Lmao the wake up dp of the cleric beast😭😭
The no equipment sign from armored core is a nice touch 👌
I want more new games to look like PS1 and PS2 games. In particular, I want that 00’s style cel-shading back. That stuff is weirdly timeless/out of time, despite having a distinct visual identity. We’ve come so far with graphics, I don’t think every game should be pushing the envelope anymore, some of them should just go backward. 2D and sprite based stuff has made a welcome return thanks to indie devs, I think PS1 type polygonal stuff is a logical next step. Some are even already doing it with small horror games, but I want more.
That ending was amazing. Not just a PSX port but an amazing work of art. Props to Lilith and devs!
The CRT filters would be much more tolerable if they boosted the brightness, saturation, and contrast to compensate. Games of that era were developed with those displays in mind and were still visually vibrant.
If you think this is amazing Max, let me gave you some info:
Some fans are doing Resident Evil 4 Demake (with a Demo avaliable) and looks incredible✌️
44:06 The computer spinning then doing a reverse backstep almost made me think a real person was controlling it 🤣
Haha this is great man well done!
I fucking love Whatever that noise the tutorial guys make and I couldn’t tell you why
Lending even more to the idea that Nightmare Creatures is just the PS1's Bloodborne, because the demake just looks like NC.
It's awesome, I love every moment.
Man, Bloodborne fans with talent are something else.
@@KingJadInfiniteHope
I dont think you understand what I meant.
advanced technology is relative. in 50 years anything which is state of the art and high end now will look primitive then.
Im so grateful I was there for games when they released like street fighter 2, half life, ocarina of time, star fox and doom.
and of course, Im grateful that I still play the new titles coming out now. but the industry has changed. its much more formulaic and uniform now, less original and less creative. but thankfully still gems
coming out here and there. there is still fun games.
but like maximillian who also knows the PS1 era very well this type of demake puts a smile on my face.
not because the graphics look simple, but because I remember the amazing games we played in that time.
max is a good example. he plays mvc2 and other classic fighting games some kids nowadays wouldnt be able to stomach. his knowledge, his passion of video gaming that made his channel all coming from his experience with video games since the 90s.
I can relate. And thats why I could never envy kids today. We all play now still. They missed out on incredible classics that are impossible to go back to if you born in the recent gen. but hey, thats just me. Im having a blast watching this and it brings all sorts of fond memories of that era.
@@travixo
I think what many forgot or dont realize is that every past gen looked the best for their time, isnt that right?
nobody thought that the graphics were bad in the 90s.
It looks amazing no chance any developer got this done back then, especially with that buttery frame rate.
Max was playing on the "remastered" graphics settings. There are options that make it look like an actual PS1 game.
Remastered setting. Kinda bugs me that he kept that on though. It doesn't feel like a PSX game when it runs this smooth
This is awesome.
its hard to believe they made this in 13 months. Lining up the animations alone must have been hell.
If you haven't already (or anyone else reading this), take a trip through her old tweets/dev videos. It was a journey watching her make this over the past year.
This is absolutely insane. They nailed the look perfectly. I feel like a kid again just watching this.
Holy Hell, the music in Gilbert's fight was amazing. Was that an original track or something new for the Demake?
It was indeed! That and Gascoignes 2nd phase theme along with Hunters Dream Flute/synthish music was top-notch! 👌
Ah nostalgia. This legit looks like Nightmare Creatures!
8:29 Max referencing Max0r is the most unexpected thing ever. Haha!
