That’s something new I’ve learned, I’ll look out for one at the next auction, I’m always see a few items I’m not sure what they are for, but I’m learning with your videos.
    Thanks Michael

Hope you find a nice example. Just watch out for ones where the marks have been over polished (not much else can go wrong with a pap boat)!

As always thank you for another lesson in my education. I have a photograph of a ‘BB’ Pap Boat in my files.

Thank you once again Michael. "you can feel the person that made it, in it" makes perfect sense. It's almost as if it was passed from the maker's hands into your own.

It is a wonderful feeling to hold a very tactile piece of antique silver from the " golden age." It's a feeling that's hard to describe but one of which I never tire.

We’re definitely lucky to get to own these pieces for a brief while.

I have an early 19th century pewter pap boat. Many thanks for another very interesting and educational video!

My pleasure! Yes I should have mentioned they were often made in pewter too, though I’m not sure the lead content helped with recovery!

@@michaelbaggott-rk1lh I hadn't considered the lead content aspect. You're definitely right, it would be counter productive to healing, in fact it might have sped up the poor persons demise. I like your focus on the golden age of English silver. I agree most whole heartedly about hand made silver objects and their tactile as well as aesthetic appeal. That silver pap boat in its simplicity is a truly beautiful object! Maybe Ill be lucky enough to find one of the same vintage .
