What a cute trick! So for someone that’s stuck in classical brain, I forget that those cute “slides” are half steps. And why in the world has it taken 4-5 years for me to find someone that teaches this stuff like you do?!? Im waiting for it to all “click” in my brain! Because the theory is there. Im just waiting for my fingers to catch up with my brain. 😂. The same reason you ask a classically trained musician to play chords and improv on a song they already know but they can’t do it.
Your whole goal is to start thinking about the fiddle in terms of patterns. Practice your pentatonic scales starting on only open or 1st finger and it will help shift your thinking. People always think about classical vs fiddle as same instrument, different genres. But really it's two different instruments. Right??? You''ll get there, and please holler if you need anything.
Thank you for your generosity!!!
I'm just glad you're enjoying these!
Sounds so good! I love slides.
Slides rule.
