The correct plug is a non resistor type , Autolite 216 is correct , and the only company type i could find . My 8N would not start after running normally the day before , i checked the coil , i cleaned the plugs , 216s , regapped the points to 25 thou . The condenser was the problem , a new one corrected the non starting .
The condensers we are getting now are garbage, I switch over to electronic ignition. My 49 8n barley turns over and she fires right up. Got tired of the condensers and a gentleman told me they are not like they use to be.. Just my solution to my issue... Play safe eveyone.
I have had several 8n's and I have one now I've rebuilt ordered a new carb new plugs wires etc.. I play with the carb settings it will only start with choke cuts off after 5 seconds it has me scratching my head
This is a thought one. I would try carb cleaner by spraying in the carb throat and see if it will run off that. May not run perfect but if the engine and ignition are in good condition it should run. Do short bursts from the carb spray as a high flow would be too much. Definatly check intake gaskets for vacuum leaks. A good indication of a bad gasket seal is you usually have an exhaust leak too. I hope this helps. Thanks
Darn good job!
Well done, well explained, thank you!
