This video was perfect! I have 70K miles on my Ridgeline and have all the original pads. I got to wondering how difficult it would be to change myself, and this answered the question for the rear brakes. Thanks!

This is one of the best brake job videos on RUclips. Extremely well explained with excellent camera closeups. Coverage of the slider pin maintenance including proper use of silicone-based lubricant and why, and how to properly deal with the parking brake were high points. Appreciate you demoing how to retract the piston without use of special tools most of us don’t have. BTW, does Honda / the G2 Ridgeline use a specific configuration of tool to push the piston in? I see these kits that have 12 or 20 or even more variations of piston compressors with different hole patterns, diameters, etc. but no decoder ring for what goes with what. I have a G2 Ridgeline and am prepping to do my own brakes for the first time ever. Videos like yours take the mystery out of it.

Hey thanks for the input! :) to answer your question the rear caliper does not have a specific configuration of tool. If you use channel lock pliers just make sure to place the old brake pad against the piston first instead of just using the pliers directly against the piston, helps avoid unwanted damage. Good luck on your adventure, I’m sure you’re gonna do just fine! :) cheers
