- Опубликовано: 8 авг 2024
- I bought some vanilla orchid plants about 7 years ago and has since turned it into hundreds of small Vanilla Orchids. Enough to sell them off and make a huge profit!!
This is the exact method I use to propagate my vanilla plants. I have experimented with multiple methods and this is the one I found that is most efficient. You can have new growth by only 2 to 3 months.
Berger Germination is the product she referenced
Product Specs
3 cu ft loose fill bag
Consists of: Fine peat moss; fine perlite; fine vermiculate; Dolomitic limestone; Calcitic limestone; and a non-ionic wetting agent
Has a pH of 5.2 to 6.0
Thank you for sharing your experience. Much appreciated in the learning.
Thank you very much because I don't know how to take care of my Vanilla plant!!! Now I do.

I love your teaching methods. This was an awesome video. Lots of information to help us get started and help us to keep our plants thriving. How can we buy some cuttings from you?

Hi, I am a new subscriber. Nice. Love this plant.
Thanks and welcome
Kabayan, I am here in Calgary, Canada. Do you sell vanilla plant? Thanks for sharing information about this plant.
Great vlog thank you
Such a great video!
How long do the cuttings last after being cut from the mother plant and before being wrapped with moss? Also, what is the process of replacing the stick with wood? Will the roots that have grown onto the stick remain or do they get cut off?
Thank you in advance!
Oh wow! Love it
Do you use fertilizer and if so, what kind? And when do you start giving the vanilla orchid fertilizer? Do you give any fertilizer to the propagations after they’ve grown new leaves? Thank you.
Hi Good information thank you
Hiii
Thank you for your vedio, this is great thing you're doing.
Could you please lead me where I can find vanilla peans for planting?
I want to grow this in the Philippines. Thanks. I will train my staff
informative thank u
Do you think if we let the Vanilla plant climb up the wooden stick, they can produce decent size beans?
very interesting
we will start this year
Are it's huge difference to grow them in the pot, or open lands?
Hi, my vanilla plant has gone thin and discoloured around the stem at the base. Can it still continue growing from the ariel roots?
I just got my first vanilla plant. It’s roots have completely attached to a piece of wood, and that wood was nailed to the bottom of the pot.
It’s time to pot up, because the roots have outgrown the size of stick and pot, but should I remove the epiphyte roots from the stick and start a new, longer stick?

Can I use potting soil with Coconut Coir instead of spagnum moss
This is excellent video.
How long vanilla vine live?
How much vanilla beans one vanilla plant produce per year?
Do we need to keep soil always moist?
How big pot we should select, if we think from commercial angle.
Thank you so much for your excellent video.
vanillas will live for as long as they are taken care of. they put out flowers only after they've growth at least 10 feet. the longer/older the vine, the more flowers/beans. The flowers has to be hand-pollinated to produce a seedpod. The seedpod is the bean. If you plan to grow commercially, I recommend long rectangular containers, good drainage, with a trellis and several vanillas planted in it.
@@orchidsisters7445 thank you so much for your guidance
Hi, just ordered vaniļa cutting, but I don't think I will finde any moos. Can I use coconut shredding?
Thanks for answer
I have a question. Does the plant give off a sweet smell or any sort of smell since it's a vanilla orchid in the growing stage or final stage with the beans on it?
What happens to mother plant? will the cut stems regrow?
From which nursery or country did you purchase your mother plant or do you sell them your self. Thank you
How long it takes to flowering
Aloha! I am in Hawai'i. Someone left a vanilla orchid cutting for me to grow and I know nothing about them! I wanted to know how to plant them in the soil around my fence line. Can I directly plant into the ground?
Is the moss necessary? I can't find it where I am
Succes
What about in winter time
I enjoyed your video, but have seen so many contradictory films, I am confused. Do you let the cuttings dry before using them? You say to keep the plants moist, but I have had at least ten die because I kept them moist. I have started using a detection device for water. Is this OK or not?
It's the same for hoyas?
Do you keep them in a greenhouse?
p.s. what do I do if I don't live in a humid environment? I live in a dry area. My chocolate tree died in 3 days because it was way too dry.
Does the stem of the cutting have to callus before potting? Do we wait a day for that? Or can we pot as soon as we cut it from the mother plant?
I usually cut and plant the same day or the next day. Make sure you use clean/sterilized scissors to make the cut.
@@orchidsisters7445 thank you!

Is it possible to buy couple of cuttings from you ?
good morning po mam , how much your vanilla orchids per cuttings po mam thanks
I have a 3 feet long vanilla vine in a 9” pot. I’m going to put in a moss pole so going to transplant the vine. Do I need a large pot or do Vanilla vine like being root bound in a smaller pot? Thank you and grateful if you can reply.
Vanillas like smaller pot, so I think your 9 inch pot is good. As long as they have a pole or trellis to climb on they will thrive.
I've been Soo confused about how to keep mine thriving, had in bark, they were doing good. Then I moved. I'm going to repot them into your suggestion, prayerfully this will do much better. Thank You for sharing.
Do vanilla vines only ever have one single growing tip and go straight up or do the branch from the nodes as they get older?
They branch off if they are healthy.
I'd like to buy some. I live in central fla
Where do you get your Berger? Nice video. Thanks!
they usually have them in specialty nursery supplies, but you can also use miracle grow potting soil.
How can I buy cuttings from you?

I live near Martin county. Do you sell vanilla orchids?
Thank you for providing this video! Are your mother plants Madagascar / African vanilla?
ours are the mexican variety although I have one african vine, but only one. The stem of the african vanilla is much thicker and the leaves are a lot bigger. I was also told that Vanilla pods from the african vanilla has a very distinct taste.
I had read that they originate from Mexico. There they have a wasp that knows how to pollinate. Everywhere else has to hand pollinate. Also heard they only flower 1 day each year and is best to pollinate as soon as they open. Say within 6hrs.
Do you sell your plants? I live in cal.
pls i want to buy the cuttings
Thank you for the nice video my question is do you need to have bees to help pollinate the plants or could you take the male plant and pollinate the female plants directly by hand. We plan on growing in the Philippines we have a farm there and we think that that might be a very good idea
You will have to hand pollinate the flowers. The insect that are the natural pollinators of vanilla can only be found in Mexico and are endangered so there is not a lot of them left. 99% of the harvested vanilla in the world are hand pollinated. Good luck in your project. I hope to visit your farm someday when I go back to the philippines.
@@orchidsisters7445 Thank you kindly for your reply. We have a farm in Ormoc Philippines up in the mountains. We currently are purchasing rice fields to help finance other projects but after my research about vanilla it looks like that might be a more profitable venture although it is more labor-intensive. @@orchidsisters7445 how's your vanilla plants go?
@@JoyJoy-sf7dc hello there thank you for the message. We have not yet started vanilla planting as of yet. My wife and my mother are in the Philippines and I will continue working in America for probably another year. Currently we're trying to purchase rice fields to help us Finance our other projects. I think the income we get from that will help us start the vanilla farm that we would like to start. But yes the idea is still very strong in our minds and thank you for the message I hope that you are doing well and that all your vanilla ideas are still going strong.!
Where can I get the Berger mix. I cannot find a place that sells it.
You can also use miracle grow potting mix if you cannot find berger.
Hello new Subscriber 👏🏽👏🏽I’m in Lake county.
Do you have a shop?
Yes we do. Ritter orchids is the name of your greenhouse
I'm looking for someone to show to grow from the seeds
Can this variety of orchid be propagating just in water or would you recommend always using soil?
I am not really sure as I have not tried aqua culture yet. But in theory it should. If you do try it out, please let me know the result.
@@orchidsisters7445 Will do, thank you!!!
Did you end up propagating in water? How did it turn out? And did you let it callus before propagation??
I'm from the Philippines and I like to buy some cuttings.
Hello, sorry but I cannot ship plants outside of USA. There are local vanilla growers in the Philippines, Purificacion Orchids might have them.
❤️
I forgot to mention that I have rooted vanilla plants
Would vanilla grow in an aquaponics greenhouse situation?
not really sure, you can start seedlings in aquaphonics but they can grow up to 30 ft in length really fast.
I'm from india, from were i can get best quality of vanilla orchid plant. Please
the best quality vanillas are from Madagascar, The african type Vanilla
I wanna buy wanilla tree, Okay?
I need vanilla living
Can we grow vanilla from seeds?
It is possible but quite hard. You have to have a sterile setup with agar. And it takes quite a long time to stabilize.
Hello ! can you send me a plant too? how much does it cost me?

Can you use coconut husk instead of moss ?
sure you can use coconut husk + soil. just keep in mind that they dry out faster than moss, so you might have to water more often to keep them moist.
@@orchidsisters7445 wow thanks bcz we dont get that moss here i guese, never seen it here in Goa.
Hello. I really love your video and I am amazed by your love to plants and how well you grow them :)
I had a long vanilla cutting. It did not give root and some parts turned brown so i cut off those parts, now there is 3 cuttings.. no matter what i do, they don’t give root. Before it was in a soil and tree bark mixture, i did not see improvement so I took it off. Later i tried to grow in water, some parts became brown and i cut them off. I had placed that cup into a big cup covered with stretch film so it makes humidity. The plant got moldy, i killed the mold with oxygene water and now i see no more signs of air canals growing, before i used to see small yellow air things. Two days ago, i collected some moss from trees and stones and place cuttings in them. I don’t want these poor things to die, so i wanted to ask your advice about what can be done to help them grow. I hope you can reply me. Thanks
Ok Viet Nam.

I have a 6ft vanilla albida, it's giving off branches?? Or is it flowering? Cause my other vanilla albida plant doesn't grow branches that slow. My 6ft one grows so fast, up until this unknown growth showed up. I'm afraid if this is a flower since i don't know how to hand pollinate. They get 3 hours afternoon sun. Perlite, potting soil, and epiphytic orchid mix is what i use for their soil.

How can I order some vanilla orchid plants to Singapore please?
Easiest is you'll have to find a local grower of vanilla plants. If you can't find one Importing plants from other countries will require an import permit. There are some vanilla plant sellers from Thailand I believe.
@@orchidsisters7445 appreciate your suggestions and thank you 😊
