How to Grow and Propagate Vanilla Orchids From Cuttings. Tips from a Commercial Orchid Grower

  • I bought some vanilla orchid plants about 7 years ago and has since turned it into hundreds of small Vanilla Orchids. Enough to sell them off and make a huge profit!!
    This is the exact method I use to propagate my vanilla plants. I have experimented with multiple methods and this is the one I found that is most efficient. You can have new growth by only 2 to 3 months.

      vanillas will live for as long as they are taken care of. they put out flowers only after they've growth at least 10 feet. the longer/older the vine, the more flowers/beans. The flowers has to be hand-pollinated to produce a seedpod. The seedpod is the bean. If you plan to grow commercially, I recommend long rectangular containers, good drainage, with a trellis and several vanillas planted in it.

    • @orchidsisters7445
      @orchidsisters7445  2 года назад +1

      You will have to hand pollinate the flowers. The insect that are the natural pollinators of vanilla can only be found in Mexico and are endangered so there is not a lot of them left. 99% of the harvested vanilla in the world are hand pollinated. Good luck in your project. I hope to visit your farm someday when I go back to the philippines.

      Hello. I really love your video and I am amazed by your love to plants and how well you grow them :)
      I had a long vanilla cutting. It did not give root and some parts turned brown so i cut off those parts, now there is 3 cuttings.. no matter what i do, they don’t give root. Before it was in a soil and tree bark mixture, i did not see improvement so I took it off. Later i tried to grow in water, some parts became brown and i cut them off. I had placed that cup into a big cup covered with stretch film so it makes humidity. The plant got moldy, i killed the mold with oxygene water and now i see no more signs of air canals growing, before i used to see small yellow air things. Two days ago, i collected some moss from trees and stones and place cuttings in them. I don’t want these poor things to die, so i wanted to ask your advice about what can be done to help them grow. I hope you can reply me. Thanks

      Easiest is you'll have to find a local grower of vanilla plants. If you can't find one Importing plants from other countries will require an import permit. There are some vanilla plant sellers from Thailand I believe.
