Wow, that overhead shot of all the parts and components early in the video looked sharp! Way better than typical model parts usually look like, not at all like toy parts. I realize it's sort of a simple thing, but one of the techniques I'm picking up from your videos (beyond the prep work you did) is the use of toothpicks to do detail painting. I have been using brushes, but that often is harder to control where the paint is going and how much. With toothpick method, you pinpoint the spot you want to paint. Glad you took the time to build this for us.
Thanks for watching Ray, I really appreciate all of your support. To be honest, I use toothpicks because I hate cleaning my brushes! LOL But, you are right, you can sharpen a toothpick to get a tiny tiny spot of paint on something.
Thanks for watching Steven. Do you mean there is any other way than stock? 😂. I don’t build drag cars or crazy customs, I love original looking stock cars.
@@ScaleModelExperiment I grew up with an old local race track, that ran every Saturday night. As a kid, I would buy models, and turn them into race cars, if they weren’t already. I’m definitely considering making either a street car, so i can try wet sanding and polishing, and even Bare Metal Foil. 🤔
Thanks for watching Mike, I really appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. I totally agree, you can get a good results with good prep and techniques.
Wow!! The 'Ol Girl' turned out beautifully, (Spanking New)!! It's good to hear your doing 'your own' builds now. Can't wait to see what you build first!! 👍. 🦘
Looks amazing. So clean and the color combo is perfect. I am so glad you decided to do this series and it really showcases what goes into building a model of show quality. Thank you for your efforts!
Thanks so much Diecast, I really did enjoy this build and will do shorter versions in the future now that I’ve explained everything. I appreciate your kind words and support👍
She turned out Awesome James! I hope you get several awards... 😁🏆 I only hope I can get close with my build of this car. Thanks for the series, it has been fun following along even though I'm behind on my build. I only hope I can get the BMF down at all let along as good as you did... Lol Good luck this weekend! 👍 LLAP 🖖
Thank you for watching. Now that you’ve seen the whole series do you think that more people would watch 1 shortened version of the whole build say 30 mins long?
I just finished watching the series for the second time for inspiration to build my 50 Ford convertible. I appreciate all the attention to the detail of the steps you took. I do wish though you had said something about the dismantling of the original build with white glue. Having never attempted that step before, I am curious about how the parts come apart and the cleaning off of the glue itself. Thank you for creating this series. It's very inspiring and helpful.
Thank you so much for your kind words. You’re worrying about nothing at all with the white glue. Just for fun, put a couple of pieces together and the next day take them apart. You’ll see that they glue peels right off the pieces cleanly. Thanks again 👍
I finished my version of the Showboat yesterday. Thanks to your series, I'm very happy with how it turned out. Sadly, a camera sees every blemish under the sun! But a couple of the photos did come out pretty good. The hood came out perfect! I just couldn't get rid of the orange peal on the rest of it. But, generally, I LOVE how it came out, thanks to your series. Thank you!
Awesome, well done James. Neat work and the whole series was enjoyable to watch. Looking forward to see what the next 'yours' project is going to be 😀👍🏼
Thanks so much for your kind words. When the audience picked the oldest kit I was disappointed but now that it is done, I really am happy with the finished model.
What a sweet beauty of a car. Colors are great together and such a clean build. Wish you a lot of succes and hope you get some hardware to take home. Was a great serie to see and to learn from. Good luck James and a very nice weekend.
@@ScaleModelExperiment I’m planning on going back and watching some of your older stuff. Your masking and painting of the chassis in this one was perfect and I love the tinted primer idea too. Always good to get some new ideas!
As a newcomer to this wonderful hobby I am hugely appreciative of your channel. I learn something (usually lots) new from every one of your videos (and you have cool background music as well. @@ScaleModelExperiment
Thanks for doing this. I voted for the kit because I was curious how you would approach it, what caught your eye as far as modifications you might deem necessary. Your series did not disappoint, thank you.
The hood was a major modification that had to be made. Otherwise just a few small mods were needed to make it fit correctly. I’m so glad you enjoyed the series. I will be combining the whole series into a shortened version as I don’t think that it got the attention it deserved.
That is fabulous looking! Thanks for the time you took to video this, I really appreciated it. Was that canopy glue you used on the interior build? Thanks again
Hi Chuck, thanks for watching👍 for the interior I used Canopy 560 white glue then switched to Tamiya craft bond for the bumpers. They are great products.
Hi Robert, yes that’s my specialty is box stock. I find that once you start down the rabbit hole of plug wires you might as well start hacking up the kit for other stuff and swap the wheels and engine and…. So I just stick with box stock for my own sanity.
@@robertmann7277 years ago, I would buy a kit then look for every PE and resin I could find to go with it and then decide it was too complicated and put it away…
Loved the video series James! I just finished watching for the second time. What Tamiya glue are you using for painted parts and what is the white Tamiya tube you were using on the chrome?
Thank you for watching the series! That was a fun one to do. I use Tamiya Extra thin for painted parts and Tamiya craft bond for the bumpers. I plan to do a glue tutorial next weekend. I hope that you find it useful.
Hey James, Recent subscriber. Just really great builds. Out of the box or Box stock is a tough category. And sometimes you are the only entry. Which show is that in Pittsburgh. Out of Northeast Pa. Myself.

Looks great. What glues did you use to put the painted parts together? It wasn’t super glue.
I used all three glued in the beginning of the video. Canopy 560 white, Tamiya cement and Tamiya extra thin.
Hey James. Question: Is canopy glue, like "Elmer's glue?"
Both are white glues but Canopy is a stronger bond.
😮
