i use qanvee qs-200a , sponge with chamber for matrix, much cheaper and better then tidal.
I use doouble sponges aswell but this is a single tank setup with no air pumps ect
Love that the Tidal is self priming and in the tank, but the surface skimmer was the only think keeping me from switching from AquaClear. Both need a sponge pre filter though.

I had a Caridina tank set up with a Tidal 55 but it was overkill in a shrimp tank. I eventually replaced it with double sponge/media filters and had much greater success
Depends on the tank size - for me it's easy setup with no air pumps etc.
@@ShrimpTimeInt True, i had it running in a 60x35x35 tank and its just too big for that size tank. I only have 2 air pumps running 36 tanks so all i had to do was run another airline. The Tidal 55 is running great on my 120x40x35 scaped tank though

Hi I saw a video of how to make low ph water for discus using muriatic acid and aerating a few days. I tried this and have a bucket of water 4ph and 20 tds steady for days now. Have you tried using this water for the shrimp, my Ista 5.5 soil is not getting that low ph…
How low temprature can caridina thrive in? my basement tanks gets down to 17c in the winter without heaters. is it ok for temprature to be that low for 3-4 months, rest of the year its 20-22c with no heaters used
UGF box is more efective
Yes but on first shrimp tank You can have problems with UGF - You know I love ugf filters but it's for total beginers
SEACHEM Tidal wins again!!! I use 2 x 110 filters for my 400 litre Discus tank :)
