Excited to see the wing FC category still getting love. Seems like everything I use in the full size plus a camera switcher in a smaller package and lower price. Nice

Only 5v BEC for vtx. Otherwise vbat. Camera switcher only works for analog.

@@scottyh72 😆 oh you've seen a lot of other FCs with digital camera switchers? Also won't most digital VTXes take 6S voltage? Is a dedicated vtx step down even needed on a low noise fixed wing?

Nice unboxing review. It's great that SpeedyBee App already supports INAV 7.x at launch. The connectors on this mini-FC is a great idea, as it saves frustration of soldering wires to micro-pads.

    Great little board.
A real shame its missing the User1 HD VTX power switch.
Why do most of these manufacturers choose to omit this feature and add the User2 camera switcher for analogue?? Who uses that anymore now days.

I like the whole idea of the packaging and what you get out of the box, even such coloured papers. I had bought 4 of these F405 wing last year when the rumors came up that china would limit the sale of drone parts back then. But I got all of them which meant in total 20 for the holiday camp with the kids which loved them a lot.
Not sure if I would need a mini for my wings which usually offer quite a lot of space. But I guess I will get one just to play around and compare them.
But we have only used these with iNav, never got in touch with ardupilot so far.
    Nice documentation too.

The matek f405 wmn has camera switching. This looks to be a direct competitor. The biggest difference being the wireless support for configuring and plugs instead of through hole solder.

Matek is trash. I got a bad board and when I tried to submit a warranty they ran me in circles and eventually told me to switch out my receiver and servos... I tested them prior... it was ridiculous. Will never buy a matek ever again.

    Good day Mr Newton.
With respect to the speedybee f405 wing mini,
I have a VTX which can take battery voltage 7-20v
But a camera which only takes 5-12v.
I'm confused as to whether or not my camera is compatible or whether any pads need to be soldered.
Your advice and assistance would be appreciated.

I am confused about the Flight Controller information on the Ardupilot website; they say the RC input for the autopilot on RX2 will connect to a timer instead of a UART, which should mean PPM is supported... right? Also, would this support Ardurover? The previously available Wing is... so I hope so...

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  6 месяцев назад

According to the manual SBUS / PPM can be used on RX2. No reason why rover wouldn't be supported.

    Hi Andrew
You are great in explaining the specs of the products and the pinouts , connection with the App was awesome.
Requesting you to make a INAV fixed wing video using this FC . Can this be used to make a VTOL wing with quad motors for VTOL and a dedicated motor for the wing and if possible kindly make a video of schematic settings for VTOL as you have explained in later part of this video .
    Regards

INAV setup on a Penguin coming soon. But VTOL is beyond my knowledge sorry.

I’m not sure I would buy this again.
I had a ton of issues with the hardware. The standoff and screws all got stuck. I spent more time on the hardware than I did soldering the pins and batteries.
I think if I have to take this apart, I’ll give it a short try, then chuck it. Because of this , I won’t be going with a sd card.

@@AndrewNewton oK thanks. I have a Radiomaste boxer with 4in1 internal module. Fly just small 800mm foam planes , line of sight and not FPV.
So far i have used Radiolink Byme A and required a Sbus receiver, works but angles can not be adjusted. And support or information is not much , so answer any questions.
I have also used a second hand Spektrum AR631, expensive $60-70. I can be programes with the radio without the need of a PC.
I have also purchsed a Lemon stabilizer, it is also capable of flight pack voltage/current telemetry but it does not do autolevel.
I am looking forward for your next video.

Great feedback in your other comment thanks. I can see why using the solder pads instead of the sockets would be confusing. Looks like the Analog and Digital FPV pads are not in logical positions. Just know that the Digital VTx needs a UART connection for the OSD, and Tx connects to Rx etc. UART5 T5 and R5 would be the usual choice. Vv and G for power. Then you would choose MSP DisplayPort for UART5 in INAV.
