I'm pretty sure the best way to kill rune dragons is going to be with max ranged bonus and a dragon hunter crossbow since their magic attacks won't hit as much due to higher magic defence bonus and probably having higher dps due to the special of the crossbow. Then again it'll be difficult to get one as an iron man.
