electrician here- i bought the super hawg over the hole hawg for this purpose as well as being able to drill any sized hole. ive seen people also use the super hawg to core drill. best all around choice in my opinion so its worth the money
Actually a good video telling people to think outside the box. I'm an electrician and will use tools in an unconventional way like this. I havent done this with the super hawg before though. Only advice I have is keep chin away! I saw 2 different accidents with guys using them. 1st one was plumber who split chin open and 2nd was electrician whose glove got caught in chuck. It broke arm bone out through skin.
Good work brotha, thing’s definitely a beast. Just curious you ever have a sidewalk fail going right under the relief like that? Interesting they don’t have a gravel base under there either, what area you guys in?
So they normally have gravel bases, we use #57 or #304 when we pour concrete. This bit goes through smaller gravel very well. Bigger stone not so much. And we’ve never had a problem with any cracking.
I do not. We always use our transit and trencher ahead of time to make sure the pipe fits snug under the sidewalk. Quite honestly, most sidewalks in developments should be installed much higher than the curb, they install them level with the curb, this forces us to have a “swell” in the pipe under sidewalks in those cases. Still pushes water out because the gutter’s adapters are always higher than the outlet, but can cause problems in the winter when freezing.

You can drill bore under a sidewalk in less than 2 minutes with a pressure washer? Please post a video of you doing this. I’ve had to bore under hundreds of sidewalks and have actually used a pressure washer and it takes a minimum of 15-20 minutes. And that’s moving quickly

Do you worry about pitching the auger so that the pipe ends up pitched well for drainage?
