Good Video on TD0H3 Radio. I noticed CHIRP doesn't maintain the current "Roger Beep" setting. For example, I have set to use tone 2 (tone 1 is the default) and whenever I write back to the radio, it changes back to default mode. Also, chirp doesn't have a roger beep selection option. Next, I will download the programming software and see if it has a roger beep value selection option.
Congratulations on creating a down to earth tutorial. I will be passing it around as I introduce people to the H3 for their families. Not everyone will get a HAM ticket but with GMRS you’ll be able to engage the entire family.
Awesome video. As just getting my gmrs license and two of these h3s if you choose 3 you get open to all or is it same as just ham? But will have to program in the gmrs channels? I want to learn on gmrs but keep it open to using ham for emergencies and program in channels that I know are in use in the outskirts
I'm a ham and this thing is so versatile and I LOVE THE CONCEPT- I believe my FT-60 is going into storage when I get this one- You did a great job on this video
@@vicc6744 Kevin can you help me il pay for it service please I was waiting for ur reply help me out brother please il send you the radio and you put ur magic on it I really need you I saw ur video on RUclips yes I subscribed to your channel and put ah like you the only one who can help me please my friend il appreciate it Kevin thank you buddy 💯❤️
Intermod test? Here north of a big city in Texas one of these wideband radios pop open on the carrier squelch every ten seconds or so with TWO voices (often the NWS weather radio) or a modem tone and the NWS voice ... my Motorola MTS2000 of course does not.
Another great video from you. Very easy to follow. It does transmit on 220m. In normal mode go to menu #52 and turn on 220. Now you have a ham triband. Going to be looking forward to your next video. Thx
As of Thanksgiving day 2024, i got a package deal with 4 radios ,8 batteries, charging cradles and the 15" 771 antennas for $129 Amazon black Friday deal. Hopefully they are as good as all you RUclips reviewers keep saying.
Maybe you just have the one H3 but one of the other awesome programming things it can do is if you have two or more of them. you can clone one to the other wirelessly. I bought a two radio set with the extra batteries and it is great!
I bought a two pack of these little beauties on Amazon for sixty bucks, I think they're $69.99 for two right now with one battery for each. They can even receive air-band once unlocked...
May I ask what GMRS antenna you recommend for the H3? The one you have in the video does not look like the stock one... but maybe it is one you use for HAM frequencies ?
Nice overview. I am going to simply keep my 2 H3s in GMRS mode to use on camping trips where my kids go off dirt biking. That said, how do you program CTCSS on the GMRS channels via ODMASTER? my thinking was if I set just my family radios to a specific RX and TX tone, then each radio would only be listening to RX on our tone... thus eliminating all the channel static and other traffic on a given GMRS channel. Am I wrong on how these can be setup? I don't see anything about CTCSS on the assigned GMRS channels in ODMASTER. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
I figured it out.... the CT code tone it setup was not getting copied to one of my radios. Had to factory reset it and then the magic started. Do you know how the single channel cloning feature works on these H3s? Besides the full radio copy, there is apparently a way to send over a frequency and tone to another radio that can store it as a new channel. Eg) someone new joined the group, amd is a licensed GMRS holder.
Hopefully the FCC will catch up to the idea of the TIDRADIO. If you are a licensed operator using a radio can that can do both, what is the problem? I have a GMRS and HAM license. What is the problem with having both capabilities in one package, as long as you are licensed to talk on the right frequency?
Love the information you're sharing. But the one thing I really hate that RUclips creators do as they mention. They were going to put a link in the description. And all you find are links for items They are trying to sell you. And You don't even find the link that they mentioned that they were going to put in the description. At 10:03 in your video You said you were going to put a link in the description for chirp. And all I find are links of items that you're trying to sell.
There is a “toggle” in ODMASTER where you can choose to not scan those. You can program the side key as a direct to NOAA or simply enter that channel from the face, and you’ll be golden. You can also make that skip from the menu on the radio by moving to the channel, open menu and elect to skip it in the scan.
Only REAL downside to the TD-H3 is that is is not weather-proof rated so... you do have to be careful outdoors since it could get messed up in water/bad weather. I wish the H3 has the weather proofing that the H8 has.
Best video I have seen on the TD-H3. Excellent discussion of chirp and odmaster. I was struggling !!!
Glad you found it helpful!

These are programmed right out of the box? Do I need to do anything extra?
How do you know what to enter into CHIRP? And do you have to reprogram if you are in a different state?

Thank you for the video. Is there a way you can share that CHIRP list? I am in Florida.
Thank you, most helpful video I have found so far

Awesome sir!! Well done!!
Thank you kindly!
I bought a two pack of these little beauties on Amazon for sixty bucks, I think they're $69.99 for two right now with one battery for each.

I love these radios.
Just ordered a two pack. Thanks
Hope you enjoy them!
I had no luck with the Bluetooth programming. It just didn’t do what I wanted and was more complicated than key pad programming.
How do you lockout channel, can't find it anywhere....
May I ask what GMRS antenna you recommend for the H3? The one you have in the video does not look like the stock one... but maybe it is one you use for HAM frequencies ?
When in GMRS mode, you can still hear HAM transmissions, just not transmit on HAM?
yes if you program it to receive ham frequencies
I am in GMRS mode and my screen does not look like yours and l can't change channels at all, stuck on 1....ughhh how do l fix this

IMO either one license should be good for both. "They Provide It" and I Pay $ for it. Nuff Said.

Keeps stopping on noaa channels when scanning ,how do i skip the noaa channels?
The easiest way I have found is to select skip in Chirp. I'm sure there is a way to do it in the radio menu but I'm not sure how to do it.
@@KempOutside thanks

Which buitton is the Yes button?
I think it is the blue button to select yes when switching modes.
Blue button doesn’t work. It went into VFO and now I can’t go back.
I have a Baofeng, never could get chirp to work...

I thought the h8 wasn't ip rated ? I seen one video the guy said it was weatherproof but looking on the website doesn't mention it at all ?
2 words- Plastic Bag-lol
@@vicc6744exactly! Also at this price point, buy two keeping one in a dry bag as a backup. Two is one & one is none.
Yes. Keep in a dry bag in your bag. Get a Bluetooth waterproof mic and you are good to go.
I've never had any trouble taking care of my radios.
Enjoyed your video👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
