When you say "...right hand lead" does that apply to me if I play drums arranged for left handed playing? Does playing like that mean that my left hand is lead?
Hey Rafael, Familiarizing yourself with the rudiments this way will give you roots knowledge and simplify your practice. These are the Standard 26 American Drum Rudiments. They were first organized this way in the 1930's by the National Association of Rudimental Drummers. They've been taught in schools as the Standard 26 since then. In 1984 the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) reorganized the original 26, added 14 and coined them the "40 International Drum Rudiments." That's what important societies of organized officials do. ;) The 26 are enough to study from the Wilcoxon book and Alan Dawson's method since these were created before the PAS 40. More may eventually be better, but this is a good start and enough to become a great player. It will be about how you apply them and make them your own rather than how many you know or how fast you can play them. I hope that helps! Thanks for asking. -Niels
You call that a lesson? How about explaining that to go fast you need to learn to rebound the sticks with one swing? If a beginner sees this, he will think that you have to go fast while double swinging each hand and then he will get injured...
You can find that info in the video called How to Practice Drum Rudiments, on this channel. Fair call out in any case. I agree with you about taking it slow.
Good stuff. Sounds perfect. Thanks for sharing.
How do you do that? I was with you for about ten seconds...
just wondering how long have you been practcing the doubles to get so fast and clean?
Still working on it after close to 30 years... I’ll let you know when I get there ;)
Niels Myrner lol, we’re all a work in progress. 👊

Try to learn a song you like to listen to. Or play the rudiment along with the song. This will help.
Even you go faster the counting is one one and two two??
yes
Hey Niels, I was wondering why did you picked this 26 rudiments, what was your criterion? If I may ask. Thanks man!

+ritesh chouhan Hey Ritesh, I haven't tried that set. Do you have a link to what you are looking at?

pearl roadshow
And you can reach 2000bpm with double stroke roll at 500bpm.
Can you do a sextuple stroke roll like me?? Doubt it!
@@ezra2749 yep its what i do cuz im amazing
Hmmmmm, looks simple enough. Practice.
Impossible
It gets to confusing when we go fast
Take at slow. This is just a demonstration. I'd recommend not exceeding your fastest relaxed-controlled speed when practicing.
Yes but I got ahold of it now
@@nielsmyrner still replying after almost 9 years, nice! good video :)
Haha yes!

@@nielsmyrner Its to your credit that you responded to my comment calmly. Although my point remains, i do apologize for my abruptness.
If the student practices slowly they will get there ……without strain…..naturally increasing…
